Trapped within the Judgement game, nine strangers are forced to personally choose which of them should die. Every 12 hours, every player must vote, and after each vote the person with the majority of votes is killed. There will be five judgements, leading to a possibility of four characters surviving. This is a game of trust and betrayal, in trying to convince the other players to guarantee your safety and the judgement of others. It is mentally harrowing and exhausting. It is not easy.
Especially as none of the characters are saints. Whilst none of them are aware of it, they have all been chosen for a reason. For sins they have committed in the past. Each of the characters personify one of the seven deadly sins, and have committed these before in their past.
It is for that reason they have been chosen. These sins range from the great to the small, to the aggressive and passive. Stealing. Embezzlement. Forgery. Adultery. Bullying. Harrassment. Negligence. Lying. Cheating. Manslaughter. They might have intentionally done something that hurt someone. Or it might have been something they didn't do as a result of their sin which led to a tragedy. The nine abducted will be forced to ultimately confront their mistakes and guilt throughout the game as they battle to survive, and ultimately ask themselves...
...do they even deserve to live?
Welcome to JUDGE.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Interest Check for JUDGE! JUDGE is what's defined as a 'Locked Murder Thriller' inspired by the manga of the same name by Yoshiki Tonogai. It is also influenced by his other manga DOUBT, and visual novel games such as "9 Persons, 9 Hours, 9 Doors" and "Virtue's Last Reward", as well as psychological horror thrillers in general. No one needs to have read Judge or played those games in order to participate in this rp, however (although if anyone who wishes to join has experienced them, first yay! Secondly, keep spoilers out of the rp for those who haven't).
The aim of the rp is to explore through writing the terror of a character who is kidnapped and forced into the Judgement survival game, where they must use their wits to survive, debate and ultimately choose who should die. This will be a very experimental rp. I can't guarantee its success, but I've figured out a lot of the facets needed to run this rp, but it also ultimately depends on all of the involved players whether or not this will be successful.
I'm looking for eight players for this game. The type of players I'm looking for need to be active, committed, communicative and courteous. If even one players drops out of the rp whilst their character is still alive, it'll cause problems for everyone and upset the balance of the entire game. I'm looking for players with good writing; good spelling, grammar and punctuation. I don't expect perfection but the better your writing, ultimately the better off the rp will be. I'd like EVERYONE to say their preferred posting frequency within this interest check so we can get a consensus on what that should be, although atm I would personally like to see a post every 2 or 3 days. Breaks due to events in real life etc are fine so long as notice/explanation is given. It's always disheartening when a person drops out or doesn't post for a lengthy period of time with no explanation.
This should be a fairly short rp, I'd imagine, so if there's anyone eager and interested in that then this could be a good rp for you. Characters will die over the course of the rp, so players must be willing and accepting for that possibility. Character deaths are the main focus of this rp, and it will be done as fairly as it can be: Decided by your peers. In each of the rounds, every character will be forced to vote which character should die. In those instances, players will pm me their choice, along with a two sentence reasoning behind why their character's made that choice (in an effort to avoid players metagaming or have a desire to see another player forced out for reasons outside of the IC. It'll need to make sense to me from that character's POV) in order to keep these decisions a secret from every other player until the inevitable results. The object of the rp isn't neccessarily to survive the game, but to explore your character's reactions and mental state to the situation they're forced in. To explore their personality, backstory and interactions with the other characters. To see if they can uncover who it is who kidnapped them, and why they're being forced to compete in this game.
Characters will each be assigned a number from 1 to 9. I'll give these out to players after their characters have been accepted. This is so that players can give their character a 'Code Name' (such as how 999 used 'Ace' for 1, or 'Clover' for 4, or 'June' for 6 etc) to be used within the rp, and keep their character's real name a secret. I'll be creating castshots for peoples' characters so they can be used at the top of everybody's posts because they look super spiffing~ plus they help familiarise people with each character a lot better.
This interest check will be open for character applications (all of which must be sent to me in pm only) as well as the general showing of interest and questions. Some questions may not be answered yet if they're best left explained within the IC, but I still strongly encourage any and all questions regardless because there could be an offchance that I've forgotten or overlooked something. Questions are also always good because it shows people are thinking about the rp and its mechanics. c;
The character sheet template will be as such (PM me this):
Appearance: (Please use a semi-realistic piece of art for your character so I can create a castshot for them. Something painted or digital art or such. No real life photos and nothing overtly anime/manga images such as Naruto/Bleach etc please. I'm aware that this can sometimes be difficult, especially for male japanese characters. I have a few stocked pictures and if anyone else does for those who are struggling, they're more then encouraged to share them here. c Name: (Real Name) Gender: (Male or Female?) Age: (Between 18 and 24) Occupation: (Whatever their occupation may be. Student, or...?) Personality/Sin: (There's 9 characters. I want to try and get at least one character of each of the seven sins represented with the possibility of two characters sharing a sin, such as two gluttony's or two envy's etc, (although ideally they'll be of different sexes too :P) although I'm also aware how difficult it can be to make sure of that considering all CSs will be sent via PM, so no one else knows what sins have been currently chosen. I'll be updating the Interest Check over the course of time by stating which Sins are no longer applicable due to accepted CSes, but I also want to keep the sin of each player's character a mystery and as something that will be revealed throughout the course of the rp. It's more interesting as well if all the players are guessing which character belongs to which sin :P A couple of sentences of their personality would be nice too. Which leads me to...) Incident: (What it is that your character did as a result of their particular sin. I don't want tdlr's worth of detail regarding this but the more you can give, the better. The reason I ask for this is because that information will be presented in a particular way within the IC, and the mystery of how that information relates to which character will be a big facet of the rp, too. I shall also likely be forming loose connections between characters based on this, such as... a consequence of one character's sin on someone might have affected anothers. Something like that. Bear in mind that the rp's world is grounded and realistic. No supernatural or superhuman abilities are to be a factor of this rp and with regards to how that extends to the rp, the incident their sin has caused needs to be believable too, and something which they have not been prosecuted for. I don't mind one character having possibly committed murder but I want to stray away from something like that in general, since it's done far too often and there's other, more interesting ways of describing someone as having committed a sin then needing to result in them having killed someone.)
This information is to be kept secret from every other player, for reasons that will be expanded upon within the IC... c:
If anyone would like me to provide an example of a CS, then don't be afraid to ask! (Although I want to keep this a secret for now because the idea I have would be for the character I'll use so~ I'd need to think of another. c
This is the OOC for JUDGE. The first three posts are currently under construction, and will be update regularly throughout the rp with castshot pictures, as well as a map, timeline summary of the rp's rounds, RP soundtrack and other such goodies and highlights of the rp! Please keep checking back!
The OOC is for discussion and speculation of the rp as well as discussion of absolutely anything you like! A communicative ooc leads to a healthy rp, as well as build friendship. Whether it be music, television, films, book, games, funny gifs and videos or how your day's been, feel free to talk about. I know that I and several others will always be willing and happy to talk about anything and everything you like! c:
9 Strangers awaken within a diminutive, dark, dirty, damp, decripit room, furnished only with a small cot against one wall, and a toilet, sink and mirror opposite. There is a door lined against one wall, painting in red crimson a number. As the 9 strangers come to their senses, they become aware of strange new facts. First that their hands are restrained by handcuffs, and there is a prescence on their left wrist of something clamped around it. A watch? More disturbingly then that, upon seeing their reflection in the mirror, they discover a twisted, perverse monstrosity of an animal mask atop. How and why they've been taken and forced into this situation, they do not know.
They are trapped for a short time, a device besides the door reading LOCKED. Eventually, the display changes to OPEN, and the door unlocks. Stepping out of their room and into the darkness, they are assailed by the lights activating. There, they then discover they are not alone as they discover one another, and the peculiar surroundings for which they are trapped. It's a courtroom with three desks, a tv and cabinet positioned in one corner of the room, and a demented dog doll resting atop the witness stand in the center of the room. Against one wall is a pair of locked doors, with no grip, handle or lock to open. Above it is a screen displaying a series of slowly descending numbers. A timer.
Everyone exits their cell and there is mass confusion, and an exorbitant amount of swearing. Like fucking hell, man.
