At 0800 Hours on June 1st 2010 the room designated as "The Gateroom" in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex came under attack. Aliens came through a device known as the Stargate, after taking an airman prisoner they returned through the device. Luckily security cameras caught what we are calling the Gate Address. The location where they went we are designating as P1-231, however this is a different location to where the original Stargate Mission was sent in 1994. Due to this purpose a mission was sent through the Stargate to the planet locally identified as Abydos.
Due to this a second mission was sent to Abydos to try and surmise if anyone there knew anything else about this other planet, as after the original mission various gate addresses were attempted however none of them locked and opened the Stargate. When we arrived we found that the planet had been ravened, burn marks lay across many of the temple walls and the bodies found appeared to off withstood the same form of burns that our personnel in Cheyenne mountain withstood. Our team found Daniel Jacksons body and a diary noting some form of library of gate addresses. We now know for a fact that the Stargate goes to other places and that it can't be closed.
Due to the nature of the Stargate program and its importance not just too the American people but to the entire people of Earth the Stargate was moved into a specially constructed Facility with higher security protocols than that of the older Cheyenne mountain complex. In order to assist off world operations there is a large door in the gateroom which leads to several different vehicle bays, with Humvees up to tanks that are all capable of going through the gate. Each squad is designated with three humvees (Two M2 and one Mk19) and heavy armor will be used in heavier assaults or in rescue operations. For extreme circumstances where the Stargate is secure we also have at our disposal two AH-64 helicopters whose rotors can be folded and then moved through the gate.
It took three months to complete this structure due to the seriousness of the project. Now the teams are being assembled from the best of the U.S Army, Marine Corp and Air Force. The facility is ready, under command of Major General Albert Williams (U.S.A.F) the first team is being prepared to be sent to P1-231 on recon. If it is found that our missing servicemen and women are there then a rescue mission will be mounted.
12th November 2010
--- Major General Williams ---
Williams sat at his desk browsing through his documents. Aliens, wormholes, planetary annihilation, spaceships.
This whole program sounded like some bad Sci-Fi show yet his orders were to go to Alaska and lead this facility and that is what he would do to the best of his ability. He had one team of people currently off-world
- a saying which would take some getting used too, on a planet that had been locally known as Abydos. At the same time they were planning a recon strike on a planet designated P1-231 with the intention of rescuing a woman who was captured several months ago. However that was the main reason they were sending a recon team rather than a full scale assault.
Though the issue wasn't the mission, it was sound. Send a probe, check it out. If it is good send the vehicles. The issue was the team. A rag tag team of marines, army and air force special forces. However if that was the team that had been put on his desk to be the leading team then that was the team that would be used against them, who was he to argue? Several vehicles were already being prepared and the science team was ready if it had to be called back to assist. The science team itself was even more of a mess, sure they were a bunch of smart asses but they all had conflicting personalities and talents, I guess when the fate of the planet was in charge standard rules went out of the window and they just threw the best of the best together.
He looked out the window that opened into the briefing room, which had a table with multiple seats around it and a large television controls screen that could show any pertinent data and could relay to any security cameras as necessary. He watched as several of the team began filing into the room and taking their seats. He would wait for them all to arrive before he walked in.
--- Sergeant Mark Samson ---
Samson paced through the corridors returning from the gym on his way to the ready room. He had just spent about an hour training. They were going on an op and he wanted to make sure he was in the best condition possible before he went to an alien planet and performed whatever they were doing. He walked into the mens locker room, stripping down and going into the shower. After showering he walked out and began putting on his new uniform. Olive green trousers and jacket with an insignia with the point of origin
on its shoulder. He had been told to leave his black combat vest behind for the briefing and would pick it up when their squad collected their weapons, grenades and any other equipment that they had been cleared for this mission. All he knew for certain was that if vehicles were cleared he was driving lead on this one.
He looked around the room, hoping that others would arrive soon getting ready for the upcoming mission. So far he had no idea on who was going to be in the team other than himself and a Major Kawolski who had taken part in the first mission to Abydos.
--- Dr.Adams ---
Adams pulled himself out of the DHD swearing under his breath. Standing up he dusted off the sand from his camouflaged uniform, of course the military would give them camouflaged outfits on a planets whose populace had been wiped out by evil aliens. The charred smell still filled the room as well as the dust and the smells from their camp
only feet away from them. He looked over to Dr.Nassaya, an small chinese women who just gave him a rough smile, she had been trying to crack how the transportation rings worked, without somewhere to ring too however she didn't seem to be having much luck with it though. Not to mention McKay was shouting about one thing or another in the corner. Probably bitching that Adams had been called in to take over the Research Team on this mission instead of him.
He turned to the DHD, it being time for them to dial back in to Earth on a check in. He pressed the first symbol, which did not light up as it usually did on either the dias or the gate. "McKay, did I or did I not tell you to not remove
anything from the DHD? What did you do this time?"
