Krios Ar Felicia O Arkkonhold
29 years old. 6ft2. Strong, athletic build. Various dark blue tribal tattoos.
Avvar, of the clan Arkkonhold.
Although he is capable
of using a bow due to hunting, Krios has always been more of a warrior and is much better at using an axe and shield. He's physically quite strong and tough, thanks mostly to training and the harsh way of life Avvar's must endure. Although he's a powerful runner, even across rough terrain and obstacles, he's not particularly agile nor amazingly quick footed in a fight.
Sigfrost's Teachings (much like soulbrand) - Krios has gained a deeper connection to the spirit world and has a moderate chance of resisting hostile spells, particularly spirit ones. This resistance only stretches so far however, with certain and more powerful spells often taking effect on him.
Fadeburst - Krios draws energies from the other side of the Veil, dealing spirit damage to all enemies nearby, particularly harming creatures from the Fade and those using a connection to the fade.
Krios wears light leather armour beneath a fur hooded cloak (he very rarely has the hood up). He uses an unusual shield made of ironbark which he found discretely laying against a log; the shield fits along the length of his forearm (think of Thorin Oakenshield's shield). He's currently using a dwarven war-axe.
Krios is quite disciplined and spiritual, a mix which results in him often having a serious but calm demeanor. He finds the cultures, beliefs and attitudes of the 'lowlanders' odd at times and thus may come across as rude or uncivilized. He harbours no ill will towards mages (save magisters). He has a great hatred of anything tainted (especially Bereskarn). His motives stem from his good nature, his spiritual beliefs and his desire to be a great warrior.
Krios was born in Arkkonhold, an Avvar Hold in the steeps of the Frostback Mountains due west of the Kocari Wilds. His mother, Felicia, was sister to the tribes shaman and died after a miscarriage when he was three. His father Burok married four times by the time Krios turned eighteen and whilst none of these ever interacted with him, he fortunately found a mother figure in his aunt, the tribes shaman; it is because of this that he's perhaps more devout than some other Avvars. Although he was raised to pray to and respect all the gods, he prayed mostly to the clans patron god Hakkon (the god of frost and steel) and to Sigfrost whom he believed he'd seen in his dreams as a child.
Burok tried to raise Krios as a hunter, often taking him out into the wilderness. However Krios was not naturally talented with a bow as his father had been and would instead become enthralled with the warrior tales that he would hear. As a result Burok began to leave Krios in the hold so that he could train to fight and eventually become a warrior. As he entered manhood he would join the tribe's warband and take on tasks such as overseeing trade journeys or tribe gatherings, chasing down bandits, and on some occasions fighting other tribes warriors in the ring or even in war.
By the the time he was in his early twenties he had earned a reputation of being a great warrior, but as times of peace endured he would become impatient and too eager to fight. Not finding much competition among his own tribe, and not so foolish that he would pick a fight with another tribe, he decided to pursue the quest of acquiring knowledge from Sigfrost. This led him to visiting many tribes and their shamans before travelling to the highest peaks of the mountains. It was on a lone peak in a cave filled with bones that he passed out from exhaustion and entered the fade where he claims he was then met with Sigfrost. The giant bear attacked Krios within the fade, its huge claws tearing away at Krios' spirit. Krios claims the fight raged on for what felt like hours until he lacked the energy and the will to continue. Upon seeing Krios fall to his knees, Sigfrost spoke in a growl and asked him if he was surrendering. At this question Krios limply swung his axe in the bears direction with a pitiful grunt, causing Sigfrost to beam with laughter and Krios to awaken from his sleep. Krios then began the arduous journey back home, angry at his failure and disappointed that he hadn't learned anything.
Over the more recent years himself and other warriors from various nearby tribes have been trying to aid remnants of the Legion of the Dead fight darkspawn in the Deep Roads after repeated sightings of small groups of Darkspawn from the southern tribes. It was on one such mission whilst their party was attempting to clear a small thaig that Krios discovered his special abilities. The group became engaged in a battle against a large force led by a few emissaries, which the party quickly realised needed to be taken out immediately; however anyone who got close to one was killed by their spells. When it was Krios' turn to charge at one, he to had spells cast at him but they did not fell him as they had the others and so he continued to charge towards them with the memory of Sigfrost tearing at his spirit. When he'd fought his way close enough to them they acted together in an attempt to trap him in a crushing prison. He was left immobile but was able to resist enough and with a mighty roar of rage he accidentally released a burst of fade energy, killing the emissaries and some other nearby darkspawn before fainting. Since this he has better learned to resist magic and to use his fadeburst, through practice and meditation.
He's currently travelling into Ferelden in hopes of finding some answers to why the darkspawn threat seems to be increasing, and to find allies in hopes of gaining aid for his tribe if a blight is indeed on the horizon.
