Currently working on a Tabletop RPG and I want to test out the concept of it so I want to run a Campaign using the setting.
Humanity had a crisis point during the 22nd century where a combination of horrible environmental and climate disturbances and absolute lack of resources brought Humanity to its knees. A scientific progressive group calling themselves the Harbingers of Exaltation supplied a plan for survival involving essentially of planetary colonization and interstellar resource collection. A century has past since the group arrival and thirty years since their last public involvement. Humanity has formed a single government known as the Collective Senate of Humanity (C.S.H.) that hasn't been rival in any threatening form since its creation. But the recent discovery of intelligent alien Life and their respective government and coalition has brought uncertainty as possibility of war rises and far as talks proceed. Then came a separatist force breaking a large frontier territory from the senate's grasp and renaming it Solengrad. A combination of distance and rampant industrial production kept the revolution alive till independence. The C.S.H. claims that Solengrad is still within their jurisdiction and even allows them seats in the senate that remain empty.
This game focuses on the interaction of humanity within a colonizing sphere (Think Death Star in shape, size, scale, etc but is meant to bring mass population to several planets deemed for colonization) and the factions fighting for influence. The factions are Church of the Void, Solengrad Supporters, Arcani, The Riot, and The Aristocracy.
-Church of the Void: In the recent twenty years a mysterious phenomenon has brought a form of telepathy. It originates from a quarantine colony where the populace have lost all sense of individualism and personalty and have form a collective mind. The telepathy has been dubbed the Echo and a cult has formed around it. Unlike the quarantine citizen those who have the Echo can't bring out its potential and form a collective. It has been diluted and has almost affected every person alive but due to its lack of concentration has little to no affect. Only those who truly focus on developing it has brought it to telepathic suggestions and basic telepathy. Forced telepathy(forcing a telepathic connection) has been found to produce mild to major hallucinated. The church was form to study and to worship as this legend hive mind supposedly had brought inner peace to its members. Spheres have provided a large population that could be farmed for converts and have been the acting areas for conversions for the cult.
-Solengrad: Is currently arming for war ether with the C.S.H. or the little known alien forces outside their borders. Spheres are funded by the C.S.H. and has brought up a potential issue for the future of Solengrad as the C.S.H.'s influence would spread closer and the distant advantage is dwindling. Spies and loyalist belonging to the new nation have been infiltrating the spheres and splintering off on each colony to try to convince the people to join Solengrad. But the methods used to stop C.S.H. agencies and agendas have been violent and terror inspiring. While the majority see the group as Terrorists the minority sees them as a plausible option to a new life.
-Arcani: The C.S.H.'s response to the active activism and terror plots was a secret group of their own. A secret police to fight a shadow war within the spheres, a protest explodes but behind the scenes evidence of an intense gunfight. A politician is assassination during a speech but the Solengrad Supporters are blamed. Many a police official or public office holder are usually flashed by a badge by a mysterious man wanting some crucial information. These agents are rumored to be sleeper agents in any industry that has a economic standing or any office of power.
-The Riot: The Riot isn't an organized group but rather a social network that hides deep in the bowels of the internet. A community built by petty criminals to help petty criminals. The community doesn't just consist of law breakers but those who wish to change the laws themselves. Activists, college student, punks, etc. The Riot demands a state of change that constantly refreshes and fixes the issue. The bright eyed youth trying to keep the system from working so the system can be fixed. The Riot isn't just a pushover ether, incredible feats have been successful because of it. From a group in the hundreds avoiding arrest after a mass protest to major lawsuits being won. This is an operation for the people by the people.
-The Aristocracy: While the Riot is for the lower rungs of society the Aristocracy is for those above the ladder entirely. Solengrad's birth was from a direct action by the group. A former member was exiled and he in turn funded and help lead the revolution. The Aristocracy wants control but even though they believe to direct the C.S.H. they still think that the Harbingers of Exaltation has influence over the Senate and even possibly the Aristocracy itself. Making its members that range from privateers, C.E.O.s, Corporate Raiders, Senators, and even military personnel paranoid and conflict with other members. The Aristocracy hires all and all are pawns. Even if they don't know it.
Now in this game the faction stays a secret and the party work together in another group. For example the party is a mix of Arcani, Solengrad, and Riot but they all work as police officers or private investigators, mercs, gang members. A larger group is usually invovled to swallow the party and bring them together.
Mechanics wise: Do you want me to actually do the rolls and such and use the mechanics OR A more narrative based style where free posting to get somewhere then for a challenge you P.M. me you actions and then I post the results of your actions.
Note: I am still working on this setting and mechanics for the legit game. If I ever see a publish book involving a nearly identical setting/mechanics I will be very upset in the violent nature.
