We are full on players right now. Shoot me a pm or something if you want to reserve a spot for later. We may be able to find a way to work you in in the future.
Welcome all to the Bystanders OOC. I'm sorry, that's the The Bystanders OOC. Hopefully we'll get characters ready in a short span of time so we can get playing quickly.
First off, let me reiterate some points from before. This is going to take place in the digital world as seen in seasons 1 and 2. It takes place years after the last digidestined were around, so things are once more swinging toward "chaotic", with various evil digimon vying for power in an un-unified land. I have no plans to make canon characters from the show make appearances. The characters are not digidestined initially, but I am not going to rule out the possibility that the characters that remain human might, eventually, find a way to obtain a digivice. We'll just have to see.
Anywho, I've fleshed out the plot significantly. Get ready for a long read. *sigh*
Our characters are just average work-a-day schmos from a town called Cabindale (subject to change if people have a problem with it). Somehow, each of our characters finds themselves at a bus stop outside of an old folks' home (Retirement Community if you will) at night. Therefor there are no witnesses when a strange, flickering field distorts the world around them and a 2 dimensional vortex appears and sucks them all in.
Upon being sucked in, our heroes begin to phase in slowly, passing through a number of layers and into the digital world itself. However, along the way, some of them are touched by a malevolent entity, a Virus type digimon who exists in the penumbra just outside of the digital world. He/she/it lashes out through the humans' personal electronics, sending a burst of malevolent code that soon leeches away an indeterminable part of their being.
The effects aren't instantaneous, but when the heroes finally appear in the digital world, it becomes apparent that, aside from their bizarre surroundings, something else is wrong. First off, they are in a lab on a raised platform that is shielded by a force field (the kinds they've all seen in movies). Secondly, there appears to be no one else here, though the myriad machines and consoles in the spacious room seem to know their work and are buzzing with activity. Thirdly, the humans who were touched by the malignant entity begin to phase in and out of existence and feel an immense loss of strength and feeling; they can only move slowly and feel as though their condition is getting worse.
A distant explosion is heard; the room vibrates and dust falls from the ceiling. An electronic voice blares out "Warning! Barrier Compromised! Specimen contamination eminent!" and the shield surrounding the platform fractures and disappears. The heroes stumble off the platform, the infected feeling worse by the minute. Finally a tinny voice squeak in from an unseen intercom.
"Attention Humans." His voice seems to capitalize the H as though he were speaking the name of a deity or mythical beast. "According to my scans it would appear that some of you have been infected in-transit to my laboratory. I am implementing emergency measures to preserve your existence. Follow my instructions closely and to the letter. I assure you that your life, and possibly my own, depend upon it."
Hasty but exact directions are given to move expeditiously to a rack of strange glowing orbs. The heroes are instructed to take an orb and squeeze it to their chest tightly. The orb will be absorbed into their body and they will soon collapse as they feel a strange pull inside of them. Moments later they will begin transforming into a digimon (based on whatever data cluster they grabbed. They aren't labeled.).
And from there I will reveal the plot in the actual roleplay, but I don't plan on structuring this terribly too much.
Just a paragraph or two introducing your character. I always prefer text to pictures as far as physical description is concerned, but if you must use a picture I hope they look sensible. Keep in mind our characters are rather un-epic, so unless your character was on their way to a rave, they probably don't have a gas-mask and light up tron-suits. Well, maybe they have just ONE light up tron suit.
A picture for whatever digimon you plan on turning them into is required. Please check out the digimon wiki. Rookie forms please.
Post requirement: I won't complain if you don't write two paragraphs. Brevity is the soul of wit. I would prefer, especially when other player-characters are involved, that you not do ten backflips, annihilate a room full of people, sleep and start preparing breakfast the next day, if you know what I mean. I trust you guys.
I can't think of anything else to say. Let's start throwing characters up, eh?

Name: Rupert Hershe
A victim of his own indecisiveness, Rupert has found much difficulty in selecting a career path. Even at the age of 26, he has held several different jobs and qualified in a number of different skill fields: he passed a basic electrician course, is a certified Scuba Diver and Lifeguard, he has a license to weld, to operate vehicles up to 5 tons, and a useless degree in Fine Arts (Theater). He currently works at a job in construction, and is helping to build a new subdivision on the edge of town. He loves Shakespeare, and is generally seen by his crew as "The Smart Guy" for his habit of reading books during breaks. Due to this label as being "smart", he is often placed in charge of logistics in transporting construction material. He isn't paid any more, but is expected to handle issues that normally a foreman would be in charge of.
Physically Rupert (or Hershey as his co workers call him) is unimposing. He is tall, but doesn't appear terribly strong, and he typically wears carpenter jeans, a thick Dickies workshirt, and a black pea-coat. He has short dirty blonde hair which is typically combed un-imaginatively to the side. He isn't attractive or unattractive, and sports black-framed glasses at almost all times. His boots are almost always dirty, and he typically has three or four days worth of stubble dotting his chin. Due to his burden of being placed in charge of a lot of things at work, he typically has a bluetooth-style earpiece on, although he hates it.
This device will be his undoing later, as it will allow him to easily be infected by the virus.
Digimon form: Lopmon
