I think it's just the funniest thing ever, here's a few second clip of it from YouTube.
No, the album cover isn't Prince, it's some SNL guy who played Prince in a skit where Prince played a game of basketball and lost to Eddie Murphy's brother, Charlie (who is playing himself in the skit). Then the Prince character invites them over to his house for pancakes hence the image in the album.
When the real Prince saw this skit, he HATED it. That's another story though.
Now without further ado, here's a snippet of "Breakfast Can Wait" by Prince:
haha, he's dropped like 3 albums or something since 'What the Fuss'. He even did a few residencies in LA and Chicago [and his Los Angeles shows were marketed well and were inexpensive and amazing, with Chaka Khan and Mint Condition and Larry Graham and Sheila E. and all the main playas]. Prince is far from a has-been in the Afropunk and Neo-soul circles. The mention of the Purple One turns heads.
If only he'd let more folk at least post their youtube videos of others doing his material though. Meshell Ndegeocello does it some godly justice. Most of the 3rd Eye Girl material has been coming up on that website of his--will be interesting to see if he really does release a CD for that project or not. But he's been doing his grooves righteously lately. A lot of it feels like some Dirty Mind B-sides though.
