It was an average day for Alicia Gray. She had woke up that morning, got her daily jog out of the way, she usually attempted to run at least two miles a day, had her a healthy breakfast, and went to work. She worked at a local salon on the town square. They were pretty popular, but then again there wasn't really any competition, there were only two salon's in the small town. She had taken her a shower after her jog and breakfast, after her shower was over with she spent five minutes deciding on what to wear. She finally decided, after minutes of deliberating in a small towel hugged around her body and another wrapped in her hair, on something simple; a comfortable white summer dress with red and yellow pastel colored roses scattered all over. The straps were thin, and it was v-neck style. She put on her white lace underwear and strapless bra before shimmying into her dress.
She had decided to curl her hair for the day, bringing it back into a loose bun. She let her blonde mane out of the towel and brushed through the tangles before plugging in and turning on her hair dryer. She spent the next ten minutes drying her hair, then plugged into her curlers. While they were heating up, she washed her breakfast dishes and brushed her teeth, spending another six minutes of that. After she gave the curlers enough time to heat up properly, she rolled them up in her hair, after all of her hair was in curlers, she waited ten minutes, watching the news, while they did their job. After those minutes were up, she let her hair down and grinned at the result, pinning it back. She quickly, after realizing she was running a little late, put on her white heels and grabbed the keys to her Trail Blazer. She made sure the door to her small country home was locked before hopping into her car and heading to Stylin' Cuts.
It took fifteen minutes for her to get town. She parked her car at the courthouse, where most people parked if it wasn't court day, and rushed inside. "Sorry I'm late!" She said, out of breath. "It's becoming to be a hobby of yours." One of her co-workers, Jack, joked. He was a gay 34-year old man, but you wouldn't have known about his sexuality unless he told you. He was what Alicia referred to as 'closet gay'. "Haha, very funny, Jack." She said, sticking her tongue out at him. "You should really set you an alarm up." Trisha, the nail stylist said as she was filing a customer's nails. Alicia rolled her eyes playfully and put on her apron. She only had four appointments for the day, unless there was a walk-in, but they normally didn't have them. One of her regulars, Taylor Hamby, came in with her four-year-old son. "Hey, Tay." Alicia said with a smile. "Ally!" The small four-year-old, Joshua, said with a wide grin. "Josh!" She greeted, laughing as he came up and gave her a huge hug around the legs. "Mommy's got a date tonight." He said, looking up at Alicia.
She only knew they lost the husband and father two years ago in a freak accident- he was skydiving and his parachute didn't come out, so he plummeted into the ocean and drowned. "Really? That's great, she deserves it." Alicia said, escorting Taylor to her seat. "Give me something.. different, something new, but that would suit me. I want to impress this guy." Taylor said with a sly smile, one which Alicia returned. "I think I can do that." She said. Josh went over to the small waiting section where they had magazines galore, majority for hair styles, and children toys. Alicia started on Taylor's hair, working on it over thirty minutes before deciding she was satisfied. She sprayed some hairspray so the style would hold and spun the chair around. "What do you think?" Alicia asked and Taylor just beamed. "I love it!!! Thank you!" She exclaimed. "You're truly the best." She said, giving Alicia a hug. They walked up to the front together and Alicia rang her up. After Taylor payed, Alicia wished her luck tonight and they left.
She only had one more person left, and they weren't due for another two hours, so Alicia decided to take her a small break and get something to eat. She went next door and bought some pizza and drinks for everyone, bringing it back. None of them were busy, so they were lounging, munching on pizza, having a good time. Jack was cutting up and told them a blonde joke, Alicia just rolled her eyes. "Not all blondes are stupid, you know. Look at me, graduated top of my class." She said with a proud grin. "And you're working at a hair salon in bumfuck Egypt?" Trisha said, raising her brow. "Yes, I love doing hair, I agree, I could be doing something else, but I didn't finish college. My own fault, I fell in love and it fell through, but I'm happy doing what I'm doing," she paused to drink some of her Mountain Dew, "y'all are great to work with." She said.
After her last appointment came and went, Alicia made sure her station was clean before she gathered all her stuff and headed home. She was off tomorrow, and her sister would be in town tonight, so they were going to the dance club the next town over. She went home and relaxed for a little bit, before washing her face and letting her hair down, it fell in pretty bouncy curls around her face. She took out a red dress, tight fitting and short, but not to short. She slipped into it and black satin heels, then put on some make-up, keeping it natural with red lipstick. Not many could pull red lipstick off, but she sure could. Her sister came over shortly after Alicia finished getting ready, dressed in something a lot more revealing; a very tight black dress with lace on the side and black stilettos. Her sister, Aimee, was the oldest by two years but the two looked so much alike they could pull off as twins.
They drove about forty-five minutes to the club, when they got there they waited a short time in line before showing the bouncer their ID and going inside, going straight for the bar first, ordering the, a strong drink.
