10th September 1939
5:00 GTM time
Kiev, Ukraine, USSR (7:00 local time)
A large army has assembled near the city, with armor, infantry and calvary all getting ready for an assault on Poland which is now only a week away.
Poland (7:00 local time)
As a new dawn shines upon the world the Polish army, beaten and routed, now trying to get to the south-east part of the country, unaware of the deal between the Germans and Soviets.
France, Near the border with Belgium, BEF HQ camp (5:00 local time)
A peaceful and lazy dawn came to the world as the Sun slowly lightened up the eastern sky from black to blue.
Kiev, Army Staging Area, DFAC (Dining) building
It was breakfast time at the whole camp as the morning workout from 6:00 to 7:00 finished. Marko and his fellow crew men were having a deserved meal, though a simple, standard military issue, one. Lav and Kamarov were having a discussion about an article in "Pravda" which didn't interest Marko at all so he kept eating running, a checklist of things to do today in his head. He though: "... also it is Varonov's birthday so I will need to ask the chiefs for a cake, Rami from "P" said that there is some ...".
Poland, German Frontline, "Valkyrie" camp
After ten day of constant fighting "Valkyrie" finally got a moment of rest as the Polish army retreated towards the south-east. But soon they will be needed to break Warsaw and who knew who was going to die next. So the camp, although happy on the outside held a hidden dark aura of doom. Breakfast was being served as the Sun risen higher and higher on it's daily path across the sky.
Rakel was having a breakfast in her own tent, a privilege of a higher ranked officer. Still she was only second-in-charge of the division and could be taken away from her delicious meal anytime by a summons to the division commander. But for now she enjoyed eating food and reading reports at the same time, not itching to fight after doing so past ten days.
BEF HQ camp, "Knight" part
Divided from normal soldiers the members of the "Knight" division, a mixture of proven veterans and promising new supernaturals, were still mostly asleep as there was still a hour from the wake up call. But Isidora, hunted by the ghosts of past from the Spanish civil war, was wide awake as images of her city and many other cities of Spain after being bombed, thousands being killed out of ideological reasons and many other memories came into her mind. She still couldn't help but feel that, when this war is over, her eyes are going to see even more monstrous display of human cruelty.
