It is February First, the traditional day for the new semester of DHA to begin. For the past weekparents have boarded in the school for the rare chance to see where their children will be going. Those left, still managing in the hundreds of thousands, have been rather impressed and have said their goodbyes only a few hours ago. Students have their class lists and all of their supplies. Everyone is gathered outside the schools row of gates where the parents are getting on large, heavy busses, each will take them through the country, to airports and cities alike. Almost every parent has left their child in the care of the instructors for what will be most of their lives to adulthood. With them disappearing down a huge road into the country side, 70-foot walls of metal are rising, sealing off the school. This is actually normal.
"Hello, students new and old, to another semester at Dragon Helix Academy." A female voicecalls from behind the huge group of students. A woman in her early thirties is speaking from a podium. Tall, proud, wise, blonde, beautiful, she is the new head Guidance Counselor, assistant to the Headmaster of the Academy. "I hope that in the last week you have all come to know the locations of your new classes and are prepared for the tasks ahead of you. I know it might be troubling, some of you on your first time away from home, some of you dealing with the hardships of growing up, so know that you can always count on your groups Guidance Counselor for help. I am new as well, so I trust that if either of us need help with something we can always count on each other. Now, for the new year's announcements, with our gracious Headmaster, Cilio!"
A silver haired man would step into her place, giving her a nod. To those of the closestobservation, he would seem oddly pale, and a little too thin. He would smile warmly at the students before beginning the actual speech. "Thank you, Miss Talluah. Everyone, Miss Naida Talluah, our new Head Guidance Counselor, is now joining the faculty of our great academy. With a new teacher, the comings of a new season, and a new year, it is time we introduce our newest policy here at Dragon Helix... The Internal Attention Policy. We have been informed that the recent fluxes of the Dragon Force have brought about some catastrophe in the local area, as D.H.A. is at a 'capillary' in the local veins, it's imperative that students stay close. Also, these fluctuations have brought about mutations in the nearby monster populace, making the outside grounds more dangerous than ever. For these reasons students are no longer allowed to leave D.H.A. unless on specific directives."
The counsel, a group of faculty members who are Heads of their individual departments, and arestanding behind the Headmaster, would seem to be divided with this announcement. While others seem to have never heard of the Internal Attention Policy, others are nodding along, as if caging the entire study body would be completely acceptable and that they've been waiting for just such a thing. Naida would be among those with an expression that would at least seem to mean that such a policy had never been mentioned and was highly preposterous.
"There will be a step up in security to enforce these measures. The new curfew at DHA has beenraised to 9:30 P.M., the Training House remains open as it always has, but otherwise students will now be restricted to their dorms. Permission from your Instructors is needed to access the Training House. There will also be two new groups of students: The Select Group, and the Administration Group. The Select Group of students will be those who excel enough to be chosen by their Instructors. You may not ask who is in the Select Group or to be in the Select Group. The Administration Group will be composed of those who seek True Order, and request to be juniors to the dedicated patrolling guards of our fine establishment. They will be our 'hall monitors' our 'eyes on the inside' and will be given specific directives and permissions, as will the Select Group. You may not question the directives, decisions, or members of either group, as they have taken responsibility and will be treated with the same respect as our junior faculty members. With that, the new year's speech has ended. All of you may now swipe your new Student I.D. cards and enter. Welcome to your new home."
