We are full up on Female and Middle Eastern characters.
This isn't meant insultingly, but please, no wall of text. Put spaces between paragraphs, try to format your character sheet for some sort of readability. I consider knowing how to space paragraphs part and parcel with Advanced RP. Most of you won't have this issue. Beyond that, I reserve the right to request edits.
I know some people feel that character sheets are unnecessary, and there's a lot of chit-chat about it in the OOC part of the Guild. I am one of those pro-character sheet guys; I think they are a useful exercise that forces you to think through your character; the process of writing the history determines a starting point for how they think, as a result of their experiences and how they approach matters. I consider it a big deal, basically.
The following squad positions are available, assuming a nine man squad, probably operating out of an infantry fighting vehicle like the Combat Vehicle 90. It is entirely possible that the IFV is remote controllable and autopiloted by a sophisticated AI -- the Grathik are very adept programmers, and this may be a holdover of their attempts to create a robotic army to do the fighting for them.
I will update this roster as necessary to reflect that the positions are closed.
Squad Position: Please post the Squad Position you wish your character to occupy, and an alternate in (parenthesis)
Name: Nationality: Age: Rank/Title: (If applicable, highest held in Terran military/PMC) Military Occupational Specialty: (A job title, a description of duties. You can easily google up a listing of MOS/Ratings/Equivalents online if you aren't familiar with it.)
Insert a physical description here; include how they dress.
Please list with most important skills first.
Schools attended (civilian and military) for example. (Ranger, SERE, Airborne/Parachute, Air Assault)
List things besides issued weaponry and equipment. Weapons are TBD; I have to figure out what the aliens will be buying...
A psychological profile, something to work off of. It should relate to the character history and give insight to their motivations and why they're here.
How they got to this point, their background. What they've done and where they've done it. I reserve the right to point out edits as necessary. No 'the history will come out in RP.' Won't cut it.
Relationships and Acquaintances:
How your character knows the other PC's, and what they think of them -- this is important as this is a squad-based RP.

In his pockets he carries a lensatic compass, a green whistle, grease pencils, black ink pens, a small notebook, protractor, binoculars (7x50mm) and three rolls of black electrical tape. In his butt pack; one MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat) broken down, cleaning rag, weapons cleaning kit, Cleaner, Lubricant & Preservative (CLP) bottle. He has nine full rifle magazines, five full pistol magazines. He wears a current state of the art communication system hardened to withstand EMP. When he is not wearing his helmet, he wears his US Army Spec Ops Beret, Green in color. Attached to his helmet is a set of Goggles (Sun, Wind and Dust). Brian has a Gerber Mark II Survival knife attached to his assault vest, a Gerber boot knife at the top of his right boot & a Leatherman tool on his belt.
Items carried in his pack: Three MREs, one extra set of combat fatigues, foot powder, sunscreen, four empty magazines, five Black T-shirts in zip lock bags, seven pairs of wool socks in zip lock bags, wet weather poncho, poncho liner, four bungee cords with hooks, three rolls of OD green duct tape, two hundred feet of 550 Lb parachute cord, one brown towel, a two-quart bladder canteen attached to pack, Intrenching tool (E-Tool) /with carrier, a climbing harness, locking D-ring, figure eight descender, various military snap links, four small spools of trip wire with four small nails inside each spool, Nomex hood. He also has four empty rifle magazines and three empty pistol magazines.
Brian Park is serious about his work. He knows that survival is dependent upon his ability to pay close attention to detail and to insure those personnel he is charged with preparing for combat take their training seriously as well as the preparation requirements for combat. When in combat, Brian Park is "Serious as a Mother Fuckin' Heart Attack" and that is what he will tell you. When he is not on an operation, not training, or not on duty, Brian Park is a fun-loving soldier with a great sense of humor. His sense of humor earned him the sobriquet of "The Riddler".
Raised in the Boston suburb of Brookline, Massachusetts. His father works as an Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor) at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Brian's grandfather served as an officer in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps in the 1950s and 1960s rising to the rank of Colonel. Brian entered the Army right out of High school.
Brian served as Squad Automatic Weapon gunner, B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry (1-27), 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; and Grenadier, C Company, 1st Battalion, 75th Rangers (1-75), Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia before attending JFK-SWC. After being promoted to Sergeant, Brian attended the US Army Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQ) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Ft. Bragg, NC (JFK - SWC) and has been assigned as Special Operations Light Weapons Sergeant, A Detachment, A Co. 1st Bn, 1st Special Forces Group (SFG), Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Tacoma, WA ever since.
Relationships and Acquaintances: Danny Maimon - Brian respects Danny for his experiences and tends to rate Israelis high for their skills and tenacity. A nation of zealots dropped in a hole surrounded by vipers. The two have established a decent friendship. Brian would take a bullet for Danny and is sure, the other would do the same for him.
Gideon Khambalo - Brian likes Gideon, not just for his size, but for his playful attitude. While some might think his jibes as intimidating, Brian sees them for what they are; playfulness. Brian is glad, Gideon is on his side.
Soraya Karam - Brian understands the value of a medic. Although trained as a Combat Lifesaver, those skills are sufficient to keep someone alive until a medic comes along, but that is as far as it goes. Brian trusts Soraya's abilities and therefore respects her. Working the Beirut hospitals must have been quite busy. He knows the Class A trauma centers in Boston, MA are. Brian finds Soraya physically attractive, but his professionalism would prevent any forays into fraternization. Her dark humor fits in well with his own sense of humor.
Sara Black - Trust is at the heart of the issue with Sara Black. In an infantry squad, it is imperative that everyone trust one another to know that the other soldier has your back and you have their's. Due to Sara's reluctance to allow her brothers and sisters inside, makes her a very large question. Brian is uncomfortable about Sara and does not like it. Her reluctance to communicate can jeopardize the team. The cohesiveness of a team is grounded on all members knowing each other like a tight knit family.
Ryan Davis - Brian likes Ryan Davis. He instinctively knows the young former Marine is capable and would follow the marine to the ends of the earth. Trust and loyalty are a two way street. Brian willing to lend someone the benefit of the doubt, if doubt should arise, it has not with Ryan Davis. He may put up this Anti-Authoritarian facade, but it appears transparent to Brian. He knows this former Marine is a team player willing to take on the same risks and rise to the challenge set forth by the leadership.
Luka Fynn Kilham - Brian respects Luka Kilham for his technical and tactical expertise. Brian believes he is the right man for the job. He does view Luka as an equal and that is fine with Brian. At only three years senior, he views the "Gunny" as the squad's daddy, looking after his men. A leader has two priorities, the Mission and the Men. An NCO needs to be able to train his troops properly to perform the mission and provide them with all the tools necessary, but should also look after their welfare to insure they are mentally in the game. A soldier distracted by some inconvenience is a liability. Everyone needs to have their head screwed on tight; albeit on a swivel, focused on the task at hand. Luka Kilham is the right man in the right job.
Lars Haraldsson - An NCO should take care of the men. In Brian Park's world that means making sure they are physically fit, technically proficient and tactically capable. Those also appear to be Lars' priorities and that sets well with (former) Sergeant First Class (SFC) Park. Regardless of Lars' previous rank, he is ranked as a Squad Leader now and somehow his skills landed him this assignment. Brian thinks the Swede is a tad on the young side, but he knew several actual NCO squad leaders back in the world who were the same age as Lars. Brian was always willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt as long as it didn't cost someone's life.
Darren Allard - Being a Legionnaire gave Darren an extra point just like Danny being Israeli. French Foreign Legion training is one of the most brutal experiences in the world. Sure, British Commando, US Army Ranger training and even Robin Sage in the US SF community are difficult training experiences, but even they pale in comparison to FFL training. The brutality of the training creates a fighting machine that can handle extreme miserable conditions and continue to perform at a hundred percent. Darren Allard is a squared away troop in Brian Park's eyes.

I am playing no game. I am an author contributing my ideas to a collaborative work of fiction.
I have no intention of winning anything in a role play, just to write a readable story that maybe a few of you will enjoy.
Name: Danny Maimon (Mispar Zehut/SSID: 5-3639213-7) Nationality: Israeli Age: 28 Blood Type: A+ Rank/Title: Samal - Sergeant, Israeli Defense Forces Military Occupational Specialty: Parachute Infantry, Sayeret Matkal ZMIST: MB2317APOS
Danny stands at about 5'9" and weighs roughly 183lbs; he is fairly light-skinned, but it is hard to determine 'what' he is as a byproduct of modern Israel; his mother is descended from Russian and German Jewish parentage and his father is Mizrahim from Lebanon, originally. He passes for 'somewhere in the Mediterranean' with dark hair that tends toward the curly -- Centurion does not require, nor does he bother, its recruits to wear their hair in an American-style high and tight or to shave, though he is clean shaven, even if his hair is left longer than American military types like it. According to the females and guy-inclined among the GFL's ranks, Danny's got soulful eyes, a somewhat large-ish nose, and a mouth that dimples. He looks a tad younger than he is. When in uniform, he usually has a pair of sunglasses handy, owing to being raised in the desert, and off duty, he tends to prefer a very casual jeans/shorts and t-shirt arrangement, though he keeps the sunglasses.
Please list with most important skills first.
- Sayeret Matkal selection (which includes several of the items below)
- Special Reconnaissance; fieldcraft and survival.
- Parachute School
- Advanced Infantry
- Close Quarters Combat
- Krav Maga
- Advanced Mountaineering
- Cross-Trained at the USMC Scout-Sniper School, Quantico, VA
- Languages: Arabic, Hebrew, English, some French
- H&K416 w/Grip Pod, EOTech 553/G33 magnifier, AN/PEQ-15 and Magpul QD Sling system. Can switch out the G33 magnifier for an AN/PVS-22 universal night sight. 8+1 Magazines, 28 rounds each, last three rounds are tracers. If he thinks he need it, he can slip three more magazines in that rig.
- If the situation dictates, he will switch out the 416 for a 417 with appropriate sight (typically a Leupold Mk4 3-9x36mm MR/T M3 Rifle Scope) as a designated marksman rifle. He is fully qualified through USMC Scout-Sniper school to serve as a sniper or spotter. Eight magazines, 20 rounds each.
- Sig GSR (1911A1 Clone) 5 magazines, 8 rounds each.
- 4 Frags 2 Smokes, 1 EMP (Grathik innovation)
- 2 M86 Pursuit Deterrent Munitions
- Strider D9 knife
- Prized possessions, his daughter Rachel's baby shoes, worn around his neck with his dogtags and his older daughter's, Sarah, craft bracelet made in school.
Crye Multicam uniform, tan combat boots, velcro-closed gloves, black, a digital dive-rated watch with a compass attached, a Blackhawk 603D08CT Ultralight 3 Day Assault Pack in multicam, AN/PVS-14 monocular night vision device (attaches to helmet), and Dragonscale Armor. Chest-rig load bearing vest four pouches, three mags each, two canteens holders (empty, for mags), Camelbak hydration system, ammo pouches (total 9 magazines), a drop holster for the 1911A1 (4+1 magazines), a first aid kit with tourniquet and field dressings, a Gerber multi-tool in a pouch, another pouch with a GPS navigation unit, and buttpack. MICH 2001 helmet with commo, sun/wind goggles attached and NVG attached, writing supplies and paper, bicoulars, electrical tape. In his butt pack; one MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat) broken down, cleaning rag, cleaning kit + boresnake, CLP and foaming bore gel. He has an olive dual-purpose watch cap/baclava that he wears rolled up or pulled down as the situation dictates, but otherwise does not bother with headgear identifying his former unit (keeping in the tradition of Sayeret Matkal anyway). Strider Knives D9 on his belt, Blackhawk Garra auto-open folding knife. Extra rations, clothing items, foot powder, hand lotion, parachute cord, poncho/liner, entrenching tool, folding, climbing equipment, poncho and baby powder and so forth in pack. Has a very nice camera that is officially reconnaissance equipment, but he uses it for artistic pursuits. He has spare magazines in his ruck, empty.
Danny is a pretty zen guy when it comes down to things, but he takes his work seriously and sometimes his humor can run to a bit of temper. He is argumentative (most Israelis seem to relish being argumentative) and hardheaded like any other sabra when he feels like it, but it's nothing he means personally -- Israelis just tend to be blunt about things. He knows where to draw the line and be serious, but he knows when to relax and not worry himself up too much -- it's almost a necessity of the business to have a degree of stoicism and Danny Maimon has that mentality down in spades.
That relaxation, however, does not apply to the standards he sets for the tools of his trade and how he does the job -- he believes in getting it done. That means that he keeps his weapon clean, equipment maintained, stuff kept neat. But what he doesn't do is spit and polish, and that's an IDF-wide affliction that turns off people of certain backgrounds. While it's an elite formation of professionals, Centurion still managed to pick up its Pattonesque martinets, and their hostility just rolls off Danny. When they aren't in hearing range, he can mimic accents and voices uncannily, but often with just enough pitch to make them seem ridiculous.
On the football pitch, he plays in a defensive midfielder position, often having to wage a bit of war for the ball, for possession, and he has grit, tenacity and the willingness to play a bit of dirty. As on the pitch applies to on the field. He also is not a guy for paperwork; during Centurion's training, he demonstrated a degree of willingness to steal essential supplies, as he saw it, something that got him in trouble once or twice -- he puts the squad first and doesn't take shit off the guys in the rear with the gear. He's average sized but deceptively light on his feet -- he's put that to good use in scrounging operations. He is a talker and a born bargainer, which might seem like a stereotype, but it's one that works to his advantage -- Danny is good at getting shit that people aren't supposd to have, from medical supplies for the doc to more batteries for their scopes to some unauthorized booze. He is perfectly willing to lie to military police and happily (sometimes too happily) steal from HQ types (particularly if they are hoarding equipment meant for combat troops) if that is what it takes. He might have a fast and loose relationship with the truth when dealing with outsiders but he keeps it real within the squad and if he barters with others outside the squad, he shares within the squad.
When he's got free time, he likes football (soccer), photography, and swimming. He doesn't admit it, but he is still a bit gunshy about relationships after a bad divorce, has nightmares about high school, and can't stand stupid screwball high school comedy movies because he relates too much with the embarrassment and awkwardness of the characters. His preference in music is actually 1950's and 60's American bebop and free jazz, being a diehard Mingus fan, though he also likes the Ethiopian jazz composer Mulatu Astarque as well.
Born in Haifa to a University of Haifa professor (of Lebanese origin who left with his family in the 1970's for Israel) in electrical engineering and a homemaker (Polish Ashkenazi descent), Danny joined the IDF when he turned 17 and tried out for Sayeret Matkal. Around that time, he met a woman from a Kibbutz near the Sea of Gallilee named Deborah and married her soon thereafter, having two children - Sarah and Rachel - in the process. Being in one of the most elite units of the Israeli Defense Forces, modeled on the SAS, Danny saw a variety of missions, though the bulk of his work besides the war in Lebanon in 2006 and the Gaza Strip in 2008-9 was in Syria in 2011-2012, when his unit did a lot of the intelligence gathering for interdiction strikes against various Syrian supplies intended Hezbollah in Lebanon and other parts. As part of a cross-training program, he was sent to Quantico, VA, to train at the Marine Scout-Sniper school but otherwise his service has generally been spent in Israel itself, where there was plenty of work to do.
In 2012, with his marriage collapsing, he got out of the IDF and hired himself on with Centurion, figuring to make a good pile of money to support his ex-wife and daughters.
Of course, he did not realize that he was going to be in space, fighting aliens, and might never actually see Earth, much less his family, again.
Relationships and Acquaintances:
Brian Park - Park is a guy with a sense of humor, and thank God for that, because Danny tends to need at least some degree of wisecracking to get things done and function optimally -- being around a bunch of guys that take themselves too seriously just wouldn't work. Special Forces are unconventional and think that way, which suits Danny and his attitude toward procurement of supplies just dandy. Professionalism in his book is knowing what rules bend and which ones do not, and Brian seems to have a fully evolved sense of that. Trust is a must, and the two have an absolute trust on that front.
Gideon Khambalo - Gideon has a good rapport with the big man -- the South African has an easy way of handling the things he can't change but likes to take a charge at anything that is in his control and that attitude sits well with Danny. If he had to be stuck in space with someone, at least it's Gideon. If Danny, often point man for his fireteam, gets in trouble, it's Gideon that's there to save his ass. So they know each other's patterns, and Danny humps ammo for the big man, because there never seems to be enough when the trouble starts.
Soraya Karam - The thing is, Danny's father is a Lebanese Jew that fled with his family when the Civil War broke out in the 1970's, and Danny grew up with a father and extended family who were culturally Arab, even if they kept the Jewish faith. Soraya and Danny don't just share a language, they share a cultural frame of reference. So they get along. And being Israeli, he doesn't pull his hair out over a girl in the squad. A good portion of any black market bartering is for med supplies, so he, by necessity, is her point man on scrounged supplies.
Ryan Davis - Davis is a brig rat by trade, but that doesn't mean much in the scheme of things to Danny, since the guy knows his job. Davis, to him, fits the stereotype of a PMC type, a guy that could do the job in combat but had issues in peacetime. Then again, the big deal was what you could do in the field. Luckily, Danny is not in a leadership role and Davis is not his headache. So he's fine with the guy, though they aren't jerking each off in the shower or anything. The fun of Davis, of course, is watching him get loaded. Danny drinks, but not like that.
Sara Black - Black has made it clear that she's not going to talk. Stuck in space, they're all they've got and Black still isn't talking. The thing is that a squad can have members that dislike each other, but they must respect and trust each other. Black doesn't seem to trust, and that makes it hard for everyone to really trust her.
Luka Kilham - Danny sees Luka as the steadiest guy in the squad, or at least in a neck and neck race with Brian for that honor. The guy has approximately twice the time in that Danny does, give or take a year, so Danny tends to perk up when the guy talks. As to anything bartered for, the Gunny asks no questions and Danny tells more lies. End of the day, the Gunny knows how things work, and Danny's loyal to the squad. That counts for something.
Darren Allard - Darren obviously had a rough time in Afghanistan, and lost people. He doesn't question that Darren knows his job, but he does think the guy needs to let Afghanistan go a bit, especially since they need his head in the game here, especially now that they're about to fight things that no human military has ever seen, anywhere. But the guy's brooding is an off-duty thing, so that's his business.
Lars Haraldsson - Danny doesn't worry about the Captain because it's Brian's job to worry about the Captain. Danny knows his place in the scheme of things, and yet, he has lingering doubts about this guy, because he thinks that the Swedes are better peacekeepers than fighters -- most of the time that they're deployed, it's with a blue helmet. But that's one he keeps to himself, because he knows that ears are listening, and that sort of spicy talk has wings as far as the rumormill is concerned.

Squad Position: Automatic Rifleman B (Automatic Rifleman A)
Name: Gideon Khambalo
Nationality: South African
Rank/Title: Corporal, South African National Defence Force; Senior Consultant, Poseidon Solutions
Military Occupational Specialty: Combat Arms: Infantry
Gideon is a huge bear of a man, around 6'5" and 280 pounds with broad shoulders and thick arms. Despite his bulk, he moves with an affected grace and is surprisingly light on his feet. People are often surprised by the speed with which he can move. He favors a buzz cut and clean shave. When off-duty, Gideon tends to dress impeccably- tailored suits are the norm for him. His latest job (see below) has left him with a taste for sunglasses as well, and he frequently sports a pair of wrap-arounds.

In rucksack: four MREs, gun cleaning kit, cleaning rag, family photos, spare clothing, paperback copy of House of Leaves, waterproof can of 500 survival matches, 20 meters gray paracord, Kershaw folding knife, extremely basic first-aid kit, sewing kit, rain poncho.
Gideon is a gregarious and playful man, friendly to those he likes and respects. He has a boisterous personality to match his booming voice and size- always the first one to suggest going out for a beer or tossing around a ball. However, he does possess something of a stubborn streak, and rarely turns down a challenge. Whether it is as simple as "swim to that rock over there" or a question of tactics, Gideon does not easily back down, a trait that has seen him butt heads with other soldiers and even a couple of officers.
The son of a widower schoolteacher, Gideon faced his childhood in the grim reality of apartheid-era South Africa. As a child, his natural size and stubbornness made him the natural leader of a band of hellions haunting the streets of his hometown of Durban, committing petty acts of vandalism and theft and engaging in fights with Indian youths. One day, dragged home and given a clip on the ear by a policeman, Gideon was sat down for a lecture from his father he would never forget. Gideon sat rapt for that afternoon as his father described the illustrious (and possibly fictitious) history of the Khambalo clan, natural warriors feared in both kraal and veldt. As evening rolled in, Gideon's father presented him with an old assegai, ostensibly owned by these fearsome ancestors, on the condition he live up to the family name.
Gideon took the admonition to heart. Upon leaving school amidst the great changes taking place in South Africa, he enlisted in the South African Army. It was a time of upheaval, cutbacks and reorganization, before he finally ended up a SAW gunner (a wizard with the Vektor, one NCO said) in the newly formed 46 SA Brigade, intended as one of the country's top-tier frontline forces. Though he aspired to join the Recces, South Africa's special forces, and certainly met the physical qualifications, he was rejected time and again. Too big, they said. Too insubordinate.
Gideon was honorably discharged in 2001 as a corporal, shortly before the face of warfare changed entirely. Dissatisfied with the job market on his return home to Durban, Gideon found that the sudden demand for PMCs gave him new and profitable opportunities. Signing on with the Australian-based firm Poseidon Solutions, which specialized in protection for maritime firms. Poseidon offered numerous classes, a veritable university on how to wage war, and Gideon took full advantage, supplementing his military skills. His success in fights against the LRA and other forces on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda led to him being transferred to Somalia, the private side of the war on piracy. There he was trained in the subtle art of retaking vessels from their captors, the vicious and quiet war of narrow corridors and tight bulkheads.
When Poseidon's cavalier bookkeeping caught up with them last year, Gideon found himself back in Durban, working as a bodyguard to rich and paranoid foreign visitors. It was demeaning work. When Gideon heard of Centurion from old contacts in the PMC industry, he leaped at the opportunity to get back in the swing of things, to keep living up to his romanticized version of the Khambalo name. Naturally, he has no idea what he's in for.
Relationships Brian Park: Gideon likes Park and considers him one of the "good ones" among all the noncoms he's known- a man who gives sensible orders and is handy in a tight corner. Coming from Gideon, this is very high praise indeed. Danny Maimon: Gideon appreciates Danny's skills and attitude, but more than anything has a deep, committed trust of the man. As sure as the sky is blue, Danny has Gideon's back, and vice-versa. Sorayah Karam: The medic occasionally worries Gideon, being fairly inexperienced in combat. While he is first to praise her bravery and medical skill, Gideon has privately decided that he needs to keep an eye on her. Ryan Davis: The two automatic riflemen are thick as thieves, always laughing over a shared joke or trading knucks (a habit picked up from the American). In fact, in Gideon's book, meeting Davis would make the contract worthwhile even without the financial opportunities. In private, though, he worries about his friend's drinking. Sara Black: The wild card. Gideon is unsure of whether or not to trust Sara. His gentle attempts to include her in his jokes have been rebuffed, and he worries her aloof behavior might cause problems down the line. Luka Kilham: The squad leader is a good man for the job in Gideon's book. A smart man who trusts his subordinates to do what they know how to do, but makes sure they have the tools for the job. Gideon is confident Kilham will make the right calls. Darren Allard: Allard's strict and uptight personality clashes with Gideon's. The Irishman has taken offense to Gideon's gentle ribbing in the past. The Zulu has made it his personal mission to get Darren to lighten up, with little success. Lars Haraldsson: Haraldsson seems a decent enough man to Gideon. He expects the best from his men, and in return treats them with respect and fairness. While Gideon knows the man will do his very best, he has a few worries he keeps to himself. Leading a company and leading a squad are two different things, and Haraldsson seems like the type to be struck with "analysis paralysis".

Personality: She has a sense of humor that could be considered dark and sometimes twisted, though she is all business when it comes to her profession. She also collects odd and gruesome trivia bits and squirrels them away to use randomly. Being female in a male dominated profession, she has learned to deal with the standard issues that rise from it and will employ anything from a cutting remark to a blade to keep someone in check. Though someone would have to be rather dense to piss off their medic. She is single and has never expressed an interest in marriage, having watched her older sisters marry young and start popping out kids. Soraya is bright and always interested in learning something new, her mind active and restless unless focused on a task. Her priority is the health of her squad, whether it be physical, mental or emotional. She tries to keep tabs on everyone and is very protective of their privacy if they speak with her.
History: Soraya was born into a merchant family in the upper class section West Beirut. She is ethnically mixed with Persian and French blood but considers herself Lebanese first and foremost. Her father runs a successful shipping company and is a Sunni Muslim as are his children and her mother was Catholic before converting so they could marry. Soraya is the youngest of three daughters and has not married despite family expectations. She speaks Lebanese Arabic, English, and French and can read/write French, English, and Standard Arabic. She is not very religious though she still maintains some of the customs out of habit. Her family was mixed with ethnicities and religions so she is pretty lax when it comes to her own beliefs. She has never served in the military and her combat training as come from some of the men she is serving with at the expense of Centurion.
She is a registered nurse who started her schooling at the American University of Beirut but transferred and graduated at the top of her class at Johns Hopkins in the US and did her internship at the ER there before returning home to work. Her native land has always had a level of violent conflict and she found the thrill of emergency room nursing in Beirut. Though this paled in comparison to when she volunteered with Doctors Without Borders and worked in third world war zones. She has served in the Sudan, Southern Sudan, Congo, Iraq and most recently in her home country dealing with the hordes of Syrians fleeing their country's violence. Soraya found great satisfaction in her service with the charity group but the pay was very minimal and she had loans to pay back. Her decision to go to school in the US and finish her degree did not sit well with her father who felt it was a slight against his alma mater and did not help her pay for it so she had to borrow the funds. Her goal is to pay the student loans back and save up to go back to school and get her MD. While in these dangerous places she met mercenaries who, more often than not, posed as aid workers to get into the country. Despite her dislike of the deception that put her and her people in danger, she ended up dating one of them, becoming more involved with their world and discovering the kind of money that could be made for her services as a medic.
In her free time, Soraya is active and while she dislikes standard workouts she does engage in various physical hobbies such as basketball, football (soccer), swimming, skiing and traditional dance. She also enjoys cooking, learning at her mother's side along with her sisters. She has a love of board and card games but detests video games.
Relationships and Acquaintances: (WIP)
Brian Park: She gets along with the older man, they share gruesome and hilarious medical stories and have a good rapport. He helped her with some training while in Guyana and she will rely on him as her aid if there is a major injury or mass casualty event. She admires his mix of professionalism and humor and she picked up an Orioles cap to wear around him just because.
Danny Maimon: He did most of her training on behalf of Centurion while in Guyana to prepare her for her combat role in the squad. They share a common language and cultural heritage, despite the fact he is Jewish and she is Muslim they get along well, probably because neither put too much stock in religion. She also relies on him for medical supplies unavailable through formal means.
Gideon Khambolo: She likes the big man’s sense of humor though his stubbornness can frustrate her if he acts against her medical advice. She hopes that if he is ever wounded, there are at least two others to help her carry him to safety.
Sara Black: The redhead has rebuffed her attempts at friendship and Soraya senses the woman’s doubts and dislike of her presence and her aloof nature concerns her. Never one to be deterred and always concerned with the health of her unit, physical, emotional and mental she plans on not letting Sara get away so easy.
Ryan Davis: He amuses her, in particular when she first sees his neck tattoo. They share similar music interests, she picked up her love of American music when she went to college for nursing at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She does worry about his wild side and keeps tabs on him.
Luka Kilham: She has not go to know Gunny too well though he seems very self assured, quiet and collected. While in Guyana, he assisted in her training to qualify for the combat aspect of her job.
Darren Allard: Quite certain she has offended this one at one point in time with her sense of humor though she hopes to connect with him and establish a trust. Perhaps over croissants and whiskey?
Lars Harraldson: The captain stands out from the rest in both his youth and his background experience. She is unsure yet how she feels about the quiet man who seems to watch everyone with a shrewd gaze as if constantly sizing them up.

Squad Position: Rifleman A (Other positions can be discussed)
Name: Sara Black Nationality: Canadian Age: 24 Rank/Title: Private (Trained), Canadian Army; Overwatch Specialist, Dragon's Breath PMC Military Occupational Specialty: Infantry Blood Type: O+ [Z-MIST - BP7878O+]
Sara is a young, fairly pale and freckled caucasion woman of Irish descent that stands at 5'4" and weighs approximately 135 pounds. When on duty she keeps her short burnt-orange hair out of her stark blue eyes by clipping her bangs back, but when off duty, she simply lets it fall normally, resting at its lowest just above the middle of her neck.
If she's embarking on a mission that requires concealment, she'll typically clip or tie it all back tightly, and camouflage it somehow. Sara has little fat with much of her weight tied up in muscle, and wraps her small breasts to compress them further for combat or training.
In terms of dress when off-duty, Sara typically wears bland clothing involving jeans and simple shirts, as she's rarely ever had time to give attention to satisfy society's pressures to look attractive.

Crye Multicam uniform; flexible-sole tan combat boots; multicam boonie hat; lightweight multicam assault pack with integrated hydration system; MOLLE vest; Dragonscale Armor; anti-glare digital wristwatch; slip-on NVGs; full-coverage, anti-glare black sunglasses; three ammo pouches with two 20-round H&K417 magazines each; one ammo pouch with twenty-seven more shotgun shells; first aid kit; compass; pencils; pens; notebook; protractor; laser rangefinder.
Typically carries seven total rifle magazines, one in the rifle, six easily accessible on her chest. Also carries four shotgun magazines total, nine total shells in the shotgun, and twenty-seven more shells easily accessible on her chest. She also uses a hardened communication system.
In her pack she has extra rations, cleaning kit and supplies, foot powder, a crap ton of sunscreen, poncho, clothing, and other necessities, although she makes a point to keep her weight load as sensibly low as she can, considering her own small stature, weight, and inability to lug the massive loads that bear-men can.
Difficult to reach and develop a genuinely trusting relationship with, Sara prefers it when her coworkers or fellow soldiers don't attempt to grow too close to her because she's lost a lot of friends over her relatively short years in the military and in Dragon's Breath. Extremely stoic, little seems to uplift or aggravate her, except when people start prodding her about her past, especially her work in Dragon's Breath. If someone starts to try to dig into the activities she did, many of which may or may not have been incredibly illegal depending on how they're viewed, Sara either changes the topic or gets aggressive if they don't stop pushing. The woman also doesn't talk about her time in the Canadian Army.
Her stoicism carries over into battle, rarely shouting unless it's necessary or complaining about anything. In combat, she has a very particular job to do, and she's damn good at doing it.
Outside battle, she spends much of her free time meditating, thinking about philosophy, religion, and the universe, as well as maintaining her gear and always honing her skills while also trying to constantly learn new disciplines and techniques. Little of her time is spent with regards to thinking about her future, something that Sara feels isn't guaranteed considering her vocation.
Sara Black was born to a small nuclear family and raised in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. Her father worked hard in the mines, overseeing operations as one of the managers, and spent little time at home. Meanwhile, his wife and Sara's mother tried to balance work and home in order to make ends meet yet still raise a good family. Even with both of Sara's parents working, the family itself still lived at the bottom of the middle class as it had to deal with the rough and rugged seasons and terrain of the Northwest Territories.
Eventually, her family splintered apart when her parents finally divorced when Sara was 10, the drama and conflict of which inspired in Sara a lifelong disdain for close relationships. She spent the next eight years mostly unhappy, living with her mother and other siblings as they barely avoided poverty, until she found her escape in the Canadian Army at 18, signing up for the Infantry.
The girl gave her three years for the Canadian Forces and then promptly left, finding military life to be unsatisfactory, as well as incredibly boring in most cases, despite enduring a deployment to Afghanistan. Sara felt as if she was nowhere near her full potential, and as such, decided to take an offer from Dragon's Breath, a Private Military Company that promised action and extensive training if she met the requirements.
It was with Dragon's Breath that Sara finally shined, coming into her own in terms of marksmanship under the tutelage of the PMC's instructors, quickly outstripping them in expertise. Having excelled in her training, the 21-year old was promptly assigned as an Overwatch Specialist, assisting with dozens of operations over the next three years, taking place on almost every continent except Antarctica.
Eventually though, her contract was up and the unusually enticing offer from Centurion was one she couldn't ignore.
Relationships and Acquaintances:
Brian Park - Sara admires Park's leadership abilities and experience, particularly the fact that he understands the reality and lethality of combat enough not to make jokes during battle, unlike her gunner does. If she didn't like her fireteam leader as much as she does, Sara would've prefered to be under Park's command, although she gets the feeling that Park doesn't like her refusal to bond with the squad. She simply can't allow herself to lose more friends. Which isn't to say she doesn't enjoy the Riddler's jokes, she simply doesn't let the squad think she does.
Danny Maimon - Known to Sara as the Mongoose, she appreciate's Maimon's similar zen about life, and wonders if the Israeli has any insightful philosophical thoughts when he's not trying to make women bend over. What Sara doesn't appreciate is his apparent tendency to argue, sometimes about pointless shit, when arguing is unnecessary. For the most part, she's just happy the man isn't in her fireteam, mainly because it gives her some distance from him. She sometimes worries that she could get caught up in his ladykilling antics and do something stupid, as much as she hates to admit the possibility to herself.
Gideon Khambalo - The Bear somewhat intimidates Sara with how massive he is, and she sometimes thinks he's might crush her in a bear hug as a 'friendly' gesture. Despite that, Sara does still enjoy his jokes when they're funny, she simply laughs internally or smirks instead of joining in the raucous laughter. She has to make sure to keep the Bear at arm's distance, simply because he's so damn likeable. Though in some ways, she feels she's already lost that battle.
Soraya Karam - Sara worries that the medic is going to be a drag on the squad considering she doesn't come from a military background, and could easily get someone killed by shutting down in the middle of a firefight, or not shooting someone that needs to die before they kill one of their squad. It's easy for Sara to stay at a distance from Karam, partially because she's never been good at developing 'girlfriends', having spent most of her life around boys and men.
Ryan Davis - If Park is the Riddler then Davis is the Joker. Dangerous, potentially insane, and never shutting up. It doesn't help that Sara is practically attached to him symbiotically, as she has to carry extra ammo for him, something she'd never been forced to do before, and not something she enjoys doing. His jokes grind her gears, and as much as she hates to admit it to herself, she sometimes finds herself slipping and falling into the cocky bad boy trap, something she's extremely wary of. Her self-hate at her attraction to the bad boy bull shit makes her work twice as hard to keep Davis at arm's length.
Luka Kilham - Sara likes Gunny quite a bit, and appreciates his generally easygoing lifestyle, particularly his no-nonsense mentality and understanding that some people simply can't be helped. She finds it hard to believe that Gunny and the Joker don't grind against each other more than they do. Despite that, she finds herself looking up to Gunny, almost to the point that the man could be a father figure to replace the one that was rarely around. But Sara definitely cannot let herself think that.
Darren Allard - Sara isn't entirely sure what to make of Allard. The guy kind of comes off like a dick. And worse than how Sara does. She wants to ensure she doesn't develop any deep connections with her squadmates, but she isn't going to intentionally isolate herself nearly as much as Allard does. In some ways she feels bad for the guy, clearly he went through some similar troubles as she did, and he's also basically Irish which is Sara's heritage. But his problems are his problems, not hers, as long as he does his job.
Lars Haraldsson - Sara doesn't like that Haraldsson is pushing into her job with his designated marksman training, and feels that the commanding officer should stick to the normal stand-in-the-back-and-shout-orders role that a lot of the officers she has met do. She also feel the man pushes far too hard, especially considering the squad is already made up essentially of the best. Consequently, it's very easy for her not to develop a relationship with the officer.
Name: Ryan Davis [Zap# - DH3577ANEG] Nationality: American Age: 24 Rank/Title: Lance Corporal, USMC Military Occupational Specialty: 0311 Infantry Rifleman Appearance:
Ryan stands 5'11", and weighs in at about 218lbs. He is solidly built, with a barrel chest and large arms, and carries just the slightest bit of weight around his midsection. He prefers to keep his dark brown hair buzzed to stubble, out of convenience, and allows his face to sport an untrimmed scruff for the same reason. A large scar runs from his left cheekbone down through his mouth, ending at the right side of his jaw, giving him a leering look when he smiles, which is often. Tattoos, starting just below his collar bone, cover his arms down to his wrists and dance across most of his torso, portraying a variety of Celtic and traditional Sailor Jerry scenes. The most eye-catching of these are the letters "DILLIGAF" running across the knuckles of his hands. The acronym is common in the biker world, and asks a question that is never far from Ryan's mind, "Do I Look Like I Give A Fuck?" Across his throat he has a dotted line, with Arabic for "Cut Here" prominently emblazoned above.
When off duty, he usually wears sleeveless shirts and his motorcycle vest, and large aviator-style sunglasses. Jeans and boots are a must, as he spends most of his free time on his bobbed out 2009 H-D Road King.

Personal Gear: 6" Chrome butterfly knife (more for fun than anything else); Black Harley Davidson bandanna (worn usually as a doo-rag in place of a cover, or a face mask, depending on the situation); Cigarettes; Zippo lighter reading "Fuck the World"; Flask, adorned with a chrome skull(generally containing some sort of whiskey); Whet stone; Sewing kit; ballistic eyewear (both clear and smoked lenses); Waterproof matches; Gerber multi-tool; Personality:
Ryan is That Guy. Irreverent, cocky, and incapable of taking anything seriously, his battered face is usually twisted into a sardonic grin, his blue eyes twinkling at some private (and probably offensive) joke that he will inevitably reveal to his comrades at the most inappropriate time possible. He has little respect for authority, and has a tendency to purposely find the buttons that irritate his superiors and press them with wild abandon.
Amongst his peers, however, he is a genuinely caring man. Though he will undoubtedly rib them from time to time, he is an ultimately good-natured individual who looks out for the welfare of those around him. He likes to refer to himself as the "Morale Officer" of whatever unit he is attached to, and after a firefight can be seen making the rounds, spending a little time shooting the shit with his fellow mercenaries and just making sure their headspace stays straight.
In combat, Ryan acts and reacts with the skill that one would expect from a Marine infantryman. His smart-alek comments tend to slow down (though they rarely go away entirely) and he carries out his orders quickly and efficiently. When off duty, he spends his spare time at the gym, boxing, or riding his motorcycle. His musical interests tend towards classic rock and Punk, and he never turns down an opportunity to get hammered. History:
Ryan Davis was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. His parents were bikers, and he learned to love the wind in his face and the roar of a V-Twin more than anything else on earth. An avid hunter and hiker from a young age, he spent most of his youth traipsing through the mountains with a rifle in his hands and a pack on his back. When he turned 18, he figured that this life would transfer perfectly to a career in the infantry and he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduation.
Due to his size and stamina, Ryan was slotted as a SAW gunner for his squad, where he excelled. A childhood spent hiking the Rockies made him capable of humping for miles with his machinegun, and the "accuracy by volume" mentality of the gunner position meshed perfectly with his rebellious nature. Unfortunately, Ryan's Marine Corps career was a rocky one. His biker upbringing had imbued him with a dislike of authority that he often couldn't quell, and he lost rank twice in his first enlistment. Despite this, his superiors noted that he was an excellent "Field Marine", well suited to combat and training, but incapable of handling life in garrison. He did three deployments in his first enlistment, all of them to Afghanistan, and on the second received a Purple Heart due to shrapnel and a TBI from an IED blast. His ballistic goggles saved his vision, but not his face, resulting in both his disfiguring scar, and later a troubling alcohol dependence.
Despite these setbacks, Ryan loved the Marine lifestyle, and reenlisted after his first term was up. Unfortunately, his love of motorcycles and constant drinking came back to haunt him, and after two years, a fourth deployment, and his third DUI, he was administratively separated from the USMC with a General - Other Than Honorable discharge. His GI Bill and other benefits gone, he spent a few months riding the highways, living off of his savings, until he saw the add for the CSS. Deciding that life as a Mercenary certainly beat life as a bum, he signed up with a smile and never looked back. Relationships and Acquaintances:
Brian Park: Brian is a leader, and a serious one at that. This means that though Ryan appreciates his off-duty sense of humor, his authoritarian personality on-duty tends to drive him up the wall. As a result, he tends to be a prime target for quips, jibes, and just-barely-acceptable backtalk from Ryan.
Danny Maimon: Ryan likes Danny, for both his laid-back approach to life, and his argumentative nature. These things jive well with Ryan's own personality, and since he's a fellow troop and not in a leadership position, Ryan views him as an equal and not one of "them".
Gideon Khambalo: Gideon is by far Ryan's favorite comrade. He's not only a fellow gunner, but his boisterous nature meshes perfectly with Ryan's own, and they can trade insults and trash-talk without any danger of anyone getting offended.
Soraya Karam: Soraya is a doc, and Ryan learned first hand to stay on doc's good side. His experiences in Afghanistan gave him a high respect for combat medics, and so he tends to spare her his more rambunctious behavior. Being a fellow troop also means that she is often on the receiving end of his "Morale Officer" treatment, and like the rest of the troops can expect to have him periodically pop in, just to throw around some banter and check up on them.
Sara Black: Because Sara is a member of his fire team, and his tactical counter-part at that, Ryan sees Sara's standoffish behavior as worrisome. He doesn't like the fact that he has to rely on her to watch his ass, and is more than willing to make this known. At the same time, however, because of how closely they have to work together, he's more than willing to throw himself in harm's way to back her up. She just has to deal with his bullshit while it's happening.
Luka Kilham: Ryan views Luka the same way he does all brass. As one of "them". Six years of indoctrination means that when The Gunny speaks, Ryan moves out, but he still tends to do so with a smirk and snide remark. All that aside, at least he's a Marine...
Darren Allard: Darren is a tight-ass, and that drives Ryan nuts. While he understands that combat sucks (after four tours, he ought to) what he doesn't get is the guy's inability to relax. This tends to result in Ryan pushing a lot of buttons.
Lars Haraldsson: Lars is an officer, and to Ryan, officers stop just shy of being the enemy. He doesn't trust him, and thinks he's too young for his position. He also thinks that having an officer running a squad that was less than half a platoon in strength was unnecessary. This results in Ryan either talking back or giving the cold shoulder to Lars most of the time. He prefers to have the orders filtered through Gunny Kilham, whose experience he trusts.

"I will accept any laws that you believe are necessary for your freedom. I am free, no matter what laws surround me. If I find your laws tolerable, I obey them. If I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I do this because I know that I alone am morally responsible for my behavior." - Heinlein

Stands at around 6'2", weighing in at 225 pounds. He usually wears a flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up, blue denim, and either classic black and white vans or working boots. His chest, arms, and abdomen are painted with scars, and he has his dogtags tattooed to his chest. His other tattoo is the Gunnery Sergeant badge, which he has tattooed in the center of his right pectoral. When in combat, he wears the Crye Multicam uniform, specifically the 5.11 MultiCam TDU long sleeve shirt, TDU pants, Taclite 8" coyote boots, USMC IMT Vest, and of course, elbow and knee pads. On his hands he usually wears black, fingerless gloves, and finally, for head gear, he wears Oakley flak jacket XLJ semi-rimless sunglasses, a black fleece neck warmer that covers everything from just below his nose to the end of his neck, and an MIC Helmet.

Luka was born in Apple Creek, Ohio to a trucker dad, a stay at home mom, and a shining star older sister. He is the kind of man who knows what he likes and knows what he wants. His pride and joy is his black Ford GT in US trim and it was a nonpareil example of what he focused his free time on. He is seen as caring by his men, the kind of Leader who took the time out to get to know everyone he would ever work closely with. He's the kind of guy who loves a night out with the guys, and doesn't mind paying for it as long as everyone is having a good time. He believes that over working your team without giving them some kind of reward is bad for morale, and keeping that up is one of his top goals. However, he is not a pushover, and will not allow people to take his kindness and walk over him.
A good word to describe Luka when he is not having a good time is no-nonsense. He isn't overly serious about things as long as they don't interfere with the well-being of the team. He believes that at some point him harping on others about staying on top of their shit is pointless. If you're the kind of person that still needed to be reminded to clean and maintain your weapon, uniform, and gear, then he couldn't help you. Self-service. If you need someone to keep you on track, you were a liability. He is definitely the most easy-going guy in his line of work, but you only got to see that if you were competent enough to stay ahead of the ball. He is quiet, not as in a distant, cold quiet, but just in a way where he won't speak if he doesn't need or want to. His temper is equally quiet. He reserves himself well and when he does get angry it is more a dark, cold anger than anything else.
Basically, he is constantly pushing through whatever hardships are thrown at him, and can be hard headed at times. He is a kind, empathetic kid that grew into a hard, dangerous man. His two personalities have trouble blending at times, and the polarizing nature of how he is on the clock and in his down time can cause people to distance themselves from him, but all of his friends can tell you that when you need him, Luka does whatever he can to get to you.
A dad who was constantly gone, trucking all over the country, and a mom who was pulled right out of a page of Country Living, all wrapped up in an older sister who was hands down the star child. Luka as a kid would surprise you. Awkward, uncoordinated, reclusive, intensely introverted. He struggled in school, his only real talents lying in P.E (he may have been thin and wiry, but the kid could run one Hell of a mile) and cars, a trait he inherited from his dad. They would spend what few hours his father was home together ripping through auto books and magazines, relishing in this thing they shared. Luka was gifted and within a month or two of reading up on cars, he was showing the signs of a future mechanic, and a damn good one. His parents could see it now. High School, Trade School, mechanic in a few years. Their son with the good job, making his way in the world.
Imagine their surprise when they found out he had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
The USMC was his cocoon. Luka went under a metamorphosis, and every time he was able to see his folks, he had a bit more muscle and another scar to show off. Enlisted at eighteen, and on active duty since. His old self, the introverted awkwardness, the clumsy episodes where he would fall on his face, tumble down the stairs, drop his whole plate of food on the floor, it was all gone. He was still their son by he had been hardened in way neither of his parents could imagine. He saw less and less of his sister, and she ended up in and out of jail and rehabilitation centers. His father lost the battle with cancer. His sister, shot down during what was believed to have been a drug deal. His mother, under careful watch in a retirement home. His family had fallen apart, and none of his relationships had panned out.
Things that made him harder. He rose every time life tried to knock him down, and his drive carried over into his job as well. Now he stands as a Gunnery Sergeant and Squad Leader, now by those who have worked with him in the past as a guy with skill, dedication, and luck in spades.
Relationships and Acquaintances:
Sara Black: Sara is difficult. She is difficult to approach and distances herself from the rest of the squad. It is without a doubt that she is damn good at her job, but the fact remains that it is difficult enough to put your life in the hands of someone you trust, and trust is questionable with Sara. At the risk of sounding like some kind of relationship counselor, communication with her was poor.
Soraya Karam: Miss Karam is definitely a gray area. She is easy enough to get along with, and she will occasionally drop a joke or two, and she responded in kind when she was fucked with, but she wasn't super social, either. Above all, however, Soraya has his utmost respect as a medic. She was the team's lifeline, and he iss constantly aware of that.
Brian Park: Ah, Serious as a Mother-Fuckin' Heart Attack Brian. He had definitely earned the moniker, and was, assuredly, serious as a heart attack. You could damn near smell it on him. The way he walked, spoke, he kept everything tight, concise, and you better believe when he said something, he meant it. Outside of combat, however, he was humorous and fun to be around, almost a perfect contrast to his work self. Park is definitely the man to lead Fireteam B.
Ryan Davis: Ryan is... Well, he keeps Luka young. He was an over-confident, cocky kid and anyone could tell that he gotten in trouble for his mouth plenty of times prior. He can come off as childish more than anything, but if there's one thing a Gunnery Sergeant was capable of it was seeing the skill that another Marine held. He tries hard to keep up his irreverent attitude, but as long as Luka sees that drive and skill come out in combat he can be as cocky as he wants. Ryan reminds him of his brother, and tends to watch him. Given his own personality, he and Ryan get along easily. If he had to call out a name at the top of his head to have his back, it would be Ryan.
Gideon Khambalo: This guy. Luka wasn't sure if he was a man or an ogre. He was quite the large guy, with arms made of barrels and a voice that could wake the dead. This guy feels like the older brother or cousin who sticks by his people, and Luka is grateful to even be near the guy. He has incredible respect for the man, and definitely approves of his challenging nature. It was good that he didn't back down easy.
Daniel Maimon: Next was Daniel. He's calm, down to Earth guy who can be serious when he needs to be. He's a lot like Brian, and is a great man, the kind of person you would be damn grateful to have on your side when the bullets started flying. He's, for lack of a better word, pretty. Luka wouldn't be surprised if the man was a ladykiller.
Darren Allard: Allard definitely needed to get it together. He was solid in combat, which was wonderful, but he isolated himself even more than Sara. He seems to be unable to adapt to relaxed, social situations, which made relying on the man difficult. He seemed like the lone wolf type, the one to selflessly sacrifice himself at the drop of a hat, almost as if he wanted to. Being the man brave enough to do that was all well and good, but that's not what Luka wants on this mission. He was a Marine, not a merc. He wanted all of them to make it back, and would strive for that goal.
Lars Haraldsson: Captain Haraldsson seemed like he needed to have his screws loosened a bit. He was deadly efficient, cold, and quite frankly, was easily able to grate on Gunny's nerves. He was the kind of soldier who could only see the serious, life-or-death nature of the business, and Luka doubted he understood that R and R and forming a camaraderie was beneficial to everyone. However the proof is in the pudding, and the fact that he was made Captain at 25 was something Luka had never seen before.

Darren stands at about five foot seven inches and holds a rather small frame that doesn't show off his muscle very well; only weighting in at 163lbs. He only has a few identifying marks on his body like a French Foreign Legion tattoo going along his back and a 2eme REP (2nd Foreign Paracute Regiment) tattoo on his right arm, along with his green eyes and a scar along his cheek going down across his lip and ending at his chin that he received while in Afghanistan, during a bar fight with a local resident who pulled a knife on him.
He dresses very plainly for the most part he will wear a set of jeans, track-pants, sweat-pants, shorts along with a t-shirt, sweater, hoodie, jacket, coat and a baseball cap or his green beret.
- Trained at Quatier Capitaine Danjou with the 4th Foreign Regiment.
- Trained with the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment at Calvi.
- Advanced Infantry Training.
- Parachute Training.
- Mountain Training.
- Krav Maga.
- Wilderness Survival Experienced (Never received official training.)
- Extremely Well Disciplined and follows the Foreign Legion's code of honor strictly.
- Languages: English, French and Arabic.
- HK-416C with a EOTech 512 and a AN/PEQ-15 attached to the weapon.
- Milkor M32 MGL.
- Ontario SP24 USN-1.
- 4 Fragmentation , 1 EMP, and 1 Smoke grenade(s).
Cyre Multicam uniform (plus a spare in his rucksack), a pair of black combat boots, Eberlestock G1 Litte Brother Pack, Oakley Tactical SI Assault Gloves, Ontario SP24 USN-1, M50 JSGPM, light raincoat, Green FFL Beret, 4 pairs of socks (2 green and 2 black), a green blanket, some pots and pans, a few MREs, standard issue tactical webbing, 4 extra magazines (6 in total), a surplus amount of ammunition for his M32.
Darren is very aggressive and can take offense quite easily, he will tend to seclude himself and remain detached at least from the start he would do so. It was more of a coping mechanism then anything, Darren had struggled with loss during the war in Afghanistan and unfortunately closed himself off a tad bit, though he is loyal to his brothers in arms, even if it isn't known to them. He also excels under stress and seems to lack in more relaxed environments.
He also stands by the French Foreign Legion code of honor, sometimes it may seem like he follows this more strictly than orders. He joined with the band of Mercenaries for a few reasons, his family outside was one of the major reasons he did not try to enlist elsewhere immediately. Though, he couldn't handle civilian life, after so many years in the Legion, he was struggling economically, socially and even physically outside. So when the call came to go out and fight, he was more than willing; he was hoping.
He was born in Dublin, Ireland, to a Catholic family. He had an Irish mother and a French father, thus mixing an Irish and French name. His childhood was less than satisfactory as he was expelled from several catholic schools due to fighting with other students, despite the reality that he was just sticking up for himself. By the age of 18 he had been expelled from several different Catholic schools and was forced to go to public school for the last two years of school, as soon as he graduated his parents kicked him to the curb and he decided to go to France and join the Legion.
He spent his first few weeks there learning French and adjusting to military life, he excelled at both. French came naturally to him as his father was French, while Darren wasn't fluent he knew basic words and generally grasped the gist of it. Though afterward he and the rest of the legionnaires marched up to BTC. After some long months of training he was sent to Calvi and trained for the 2eme REP (2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment) and afterward he was sent to Afghanistan where he served two tours and was stationed back in Nimes, where he sustained injury during a training exercise and was unfortunately discharged (with full military honors).

Cold, calculating and efficient, both in command and when it comes to missions or targets. He have little respect for officers whom in his mind are giving bad orders and have often disobeyed bad orders for the sake of the mission and the lives of his troops. This has earned him the respect of the soldiers but some officers resent him since high command always seemed to favour Lars instead of them due to his creative and efficient way of thinking. The Swedish army valued Lars quick and reactive thinking and suggested that he should enrol in higher officer courses.
In his time off Lars mostly keeps to himself unless the need arise to motivate soldiers or someone has requested his presence. However, Lars got very little time off in his military career due to his rank when he had to keep an entire company up to par with what he wanted and expected out of them.
They call him a nightmare that frighten sub-par soldiers into requesting a transfer or quitting due to Lars harsh training.
He sees the squad, platoon or company only as strong as the weakest one and works frantically to make sure that everyone is up to his expectations.
Born in a small town in southern Sweden, Lars grew up with a fascination for the military. He watched military documentaries on TV. Read books about military battles and actions through the centuries. He was especially interested in the leaders in the battles. How they commanded. If they fought themselves or let others do that for them.
It came as no big surprise to his family when Lars told them that he was signing up for the basic course right out from high school. While he held a great sense of patriotism, it was not that which called on him to become a soldier. It was the challenge. To put your own life on the line as you tried to outwit the enemy.
He impressed his instructors with deep tactical and strategical knowledge early on and was always thinking up new tactics to use in their skirmishes with other companies. He enjoyed the military life. The workouts, the healthy diets and shape he was in, so he continued in his training and signed up for the next step with recommendation from superiors which is almost a demand in the Swedish army.
While there, it became clear that Lars was made to lead. He followed the Swedish principle of letting everyone's voice be heard and based his decisions on the information and input that his squad gave him, never turning a deaf ear towards a good plan or a different view on things.
While his military career took off, Lars personal life plummeted down the drain. His parents got divorced. His love-life was either non-existent or he was deeply hurt in those he was in. By the time Lars enrolled for the Kapten course, he only had the military life left to him. However, after he became one, his mood turned grimmer.
The mission's he had abroad mostly turned sour. Command knew that he would get things done and thus was placed in the thick of the fighting and quite often his soldiers were ambushed by local insurrectionists. His demeanour changed from very cheerful and outward a to becoming quite inwards and quiet. He has always been cool and calculating, but now it was taken further and he started thinking a lot more ways to minimize casualties.
Being in charge of the company that saw most action of all Swedish units in Afghanistan took its toll on him. He got more or less rookies that were sent into battle while he tried to shape them into proper soldiers. Lars did not see it fit to send soldiers that had never been in battle to a hotly contested zone instead of having the veterans there and keep the rookies in the quieter zones until they had more experience.
Once his tour of duty was over, he returned to Sweden and began to mould the company that he was put in charge of into the fighting force that he thought necessary and it was there that he gained quite a few nicknames, "Kpt. Devil" one of them. In the end though, he grew tired of the half-year rotation of the soldiers and not many stayed as career soldiers either and had to train raw recruits each time.
He wanted to train the best. He wanted to be with he best. And so, he signed up with the mercenary company. Since there, you had to be very good, or close to the best, or you would die.
Squad notes: Brian Park- The Sgt. FC that looks seriously upon his work. Good attention to details and is experienced in the field. Makes sure that the personal under him is in good shape and well trained and pays extra care to pre-battle preparations. Super serious in battle and keeps a cool head when bullets fly. Is one of my sure cards and an example of the kind of solder that I want and expect.
Note; Reminds me of what I was before I was promoted up the ranks.
Danny Maimon - Place on recon duty due to extensive survival training and close quarter training. Possible infiltration missions available together with Gideon. Note; Place requisition order on suppressors.
Temperamental yet calm, serious and methodical. Note; Keep an eye on temper.
Footballer, boring sport to watch, fun to play. Note; Have an A vs B football match with a reward and punishment for winner and loser.
Likes to talk and bends the rules if needed and to find things.
Gideon Khambalo - Possible match-up with Danny in stealth ops. Size is a worry, too big a target, probably will die early even if he is quick in his stride.
A little too friendly and playful for my tastes, but that kind of person is needed on the time off for the normal soldiers. Note; Need to know if this attitude transfers to combat. Might need disciplinary action.
Soraya Karam - Medic, woman. A wonderful or really dangerous mixture. Good looking, keep an eye on the men less used to serving women. Note; separate shower and toilet? No, needs to get used to her.
Dark sense of humour, a bit twisted, just like mine. Seems to be able to take care of herself, professional. Note; Keep med supplies stacked up.
Sara Black - Canadian, second woman, keep an eye on her as well. Note; Check up on lodgings in case men gets restless.
Perhaps a better stealth agent than Gideon due to size. Have them compete. Note; Seems to have something against me.
Her lack of interaction with her fellow squad mates is a worry, seems to have issues with men, understandable. Note; Try to make her share history and find a reason even if it points towards parents divorce.
Ryan Davis - A big worry. Attitude issues. Biker. Reminds me of a Hells Angels wannabe. Might need to replace quickly either legally or "accidentally" if he turns out to be a liability. Note; Seems to be a better person amongst lower ranks. How the heck did he become Lance Corp in the USMC is the big question. I guess years of service, because it can't be because of personality.
Luka Fynn Kilham - A little too big. Might die, however due to age that is a low possibility, at least the next few years. Experienced. Seems to be good in command, and liked by the soldiers, somewhat at least. Is a little too soft though but makes a good counter to myself and creates stability. Note; Worth getting to know better.
Darren Allard - Another survivalist and parachutist. Good discipline but borderline stupidity in the strictness. Mood issues, psyc issues, a worry. Might need to replace as well if shown to be a liability. Note; Might need to spend a lot of time with this one.
Overall note - A third of the squad worries me greatly while the rest seems solid. Will need a lot of time moulding them into an efficient fighting force. Reminds me why I never joined a Merc group before. Hopes that it'll be better than before since they are SUPPOSED to be good, the best.
