Friday 6th September 2013 - Afternoon classes and then arrangements for the weekend.
Premise - Modern Day
A boarding school set up by four heroes of the Civil War takes in children with powers that would normally be considered supernatural. That is, if it were not that now these children are the majority. Sent to the school to be educated on how to manage their powers safely and responsibly while pursuing a normal curriculum, these children will shape the future of the country.
The Story So Far
"We've got to make it work for those who didn't make it this far and for ourselves too; we can't let what happened to us ever happen again. This may sound pretentious but... we're the future of this country."- Julius Ragnarson, Headmaster of Washington's Boarding School for the Gifted, after the Civil War speaking to his three comrades in arms.
Four years have passed since the military attempted to seize the States by force. In that battle six adolescents previously experimented upon led the defence and, with the help of the British Guardian corps, forced the military to retreat and fall back. Four of the six founded a boarding school for children with powers to ensure that they are well trained in how and when to use them.
Despite their best efforts, however, the world is still not ready for the sudden appearance of a young population with random powers. Anti-'super' and pro-'super' groups struggle in government while much of the public fear the young and their powers especially with some running wild and committing crimes. Against the backdrop of a volatile melting pot of fear and violence waiting to explode the school and its founders become central to the unspoken debate of what shape the future should form.
All characters should be children between the ages of 13 and 18. Their power can be as weak or as strong as you want (within normal bounds). I'll allow almost any power, within reason, but my word will be final if i think any character needs balancing. God modding, as always, is not allowed.
Bear in mind that the power these children have will be relatively undeveloped and possible unstable; that is why they're at the school after all (although nothing excessive). Also the stamina in terms of power should be thought of in a similar vein to physical stamina: frequent training increases the scale of power use.
Wolverbells, Gonzo, Soundbyte and myself will be RPing as the teachers in the school as our characters are the aforementioned 'heroes.' Most posts made containing Julius (my character) will be important to the plot so make sure to pay attention to their content.
Other Background Details
- There is a 'cure' for powers to give someone a way to rid themselves of their power but it is very rarely used and only Julius has access to it (the other 'heroes' also have access to its production but only they know how to make the drug).
- There are other medicines which can either reduce the potency of one's power or at least make it more manageable which are usually prescribed when someone is still new to their power or if their power is a particularly volatile one.
- There are police corps made up of 'supers' to try and regulate any criminal 'supers' but they are few in number and thinly stretched as very few can control their power properly to act as officers.
- Various charities around the country, set up and managed by a string of trusts Julius and his friends manage, give advice and treatment to 'supers' and refer them to the Boarding School if necessary.
- Other countries are in various states of chaos or change (Britain sailed through virtually untouched and many consultants advise the US on new developments) and wars/riots/civil war are present in several countries; characters should be aware of this in the background.
Appearance/Description: (Pictures/photos are acceptable with a small bit of text).
Power: (again, please no god modding).
Name: Julius Ragnarson
Nickname: Allister calls Julius 'Jules'. 'Storm God' is a title many call him by due to his seat on the Council of Elements and his reputation as a powerful 'super'.
Job: Headmaster of the Boarding House, chairman of several charities and trusts, holder of the Wind Chair on the Council of Elements and representative to the UN Guardian Council (amongst many other things).
Appearance: Pale skinned as a northern European might be expected to be with a healthy pink tinge, Julius is the type who might burn easily but consequently finds it easy to develop a light tan in a short space of time. His hair is wavy blond edging more towards the white, always neatly brushed towards the right and slightly back, creating a side parting, and kept at a length which never reaches below collar length at the back or to his eyebrows at the front. Julius' storm-grey eyes were taken from him in the House of Powers however his twin brother's were implanted into him. Although their eyes are essentially identical there are faint scars around his eye sockets remaining from the surgery. He wears reading glasses when he has to work for a prolonged amount of time.
Power: Air. The control and compression of any form of atmosphere reminiscent of Earth's breathable air (i.e. getting into the nitty-gritty specifics, Julius has control over compounds comprised majorly either of Nitrogen or Oxygen (this includes Carbon Dioxide/Monoxide)). Forms of use might include creating a consistent (very local) updraft underneath an object and it would appear as if it were levitating, compressing air to point it becomes infinitely sharp (like an invisible and very, very sharp sword) or the obvious of just blasting gusts of air left right and centre! (but obviously without going god mode). After several years of developing his powers, and being involved in several wars, his stamina has increased dramatically and has earned him the nickname 'Julius of the Storm.'
Personality: Kind, calm and thoughtful. Julius is a young man who keeps a level head at almost all times and is carefully planner and strategist. Despite having fought in several wars he maintains his balanced and kind nature, always seeking the path safest for all even if it risks his own life.
Bio: Julius' family is a bit of a haphazard affair. The second born but the only surviving child, Julius has suffered both the 'only child' and the resented, not quite good enough, treatments. His mother has a strong attachment, but having lost her first child in a premature birth her mental state is not exactly perfect and this has led to both an oppresive clinginess and a mistaking of Julius for her first child. As time passed her condition grew worse and Julius' mother would sometimes believe that he was a ghost. His father, seeing the slow degrading of Julius' mother's sanity, grew to hate Julius for causing the family such suffering and ruining his perfect domestic ideal. After Julius' powers first manifested after he fell from a fourth floor window but suffered no injuries and left no sign of impact on the ground Julius' father began to reject his very existence, both hating and fearing his own son. In recent weeks his father had appeared guilty at the sight of Julius and excused himself awkwardly from the room, as if his conscience could not bare to see his own son anymore.
Then, one day, as Julius sat poring over an in-depth text upon the social history of sixteenth century England to supplement his A level history coursework, Julius' father entered the room with two men; one clearly an academic of frail build and wearing a white coat and the other a plain grey business suit with an earpiece clearly showing itself over the back of his ear. Shutting his book, with a bookmark from a local history heritage site at his current page, Julius stood up, book in hand, to greet the visitors. The plain suit quickly stepped forward and the last thing Julius saw was a right hook heading straight for his left temple. The next thing he knew he was a wake in a modern, spartan, white room on a relatively comfy bed; still holding his book.
Julius was one of the architects behind the escape from the House of Powers, working alongside friends he had made during their brief stay in the facility. Both his eyes were taken to be experiment upon so he is now forced to wear a cloth strip around his eyes to hide the empty sockets from others. Able to see through reading air currents, Julius was by no means blind in the usual meaning.
After being fugitives for some with Allister who looked after him Julius and the others were tracked down. After fighting with his drug-crazed twin and having his twin's eyes implanted into him Julius and the others saved Bryan, Julius' twin, and counter-attacked the scientists who had been chasing them. After finding the incriminating evidence needed to bring public sympathy to their side the group sent the papers to the government. However the military launched their coup d'état and they were embroiled in the Civil War. A week later the government had won and the the group were pronounced heroes.
Four years on Julius and the others had founded the Boarding House and the various charities needed to try and maintain order with the rise of 'supers.' He's also been married to Allister for two years.
Name: Alexis Ragnarson (maiden name Chandle)
Nicknames: 'The Flash'
Job: Part-time teacher at the school. An unknown other occupation.
Appearance: Wavy blonde hair reaches to her slight waist, tied into a single ponytail. Her piercing blue eyes are calm and determined but also exude an innate warmness, welcoming those who approach her with goodwill. Alexis is a short girl at four foot nine inches tall. Despite her slight height Alexis has the body of an athlete or more accurately that of a gymnast. She tends to wear plain clothing: polo shirts of varying shades of blue and plain jeans.
Power: Lightning. Alexis can control all electric energy in and outside of her body allowing her to almost teleport herself anywhere in a medium-long distance radius, control electronics and hack computers or simply fry a person's nervous system. She can also manipulate electronic signals on an atomic level including changing magnetic signals and the like.
Personality: Calm and measured, Alexis is most similar to Julius in her ability to analyse a situation objectively and she has his talent for strategy but she has a less kind outlook on life and is more willing to be safer rather than sorry and kill any potential threat.
Bio: Alexis's elder sister was of the First Generation taken into the Institutes responsible for experimenting on the 'supers.' Alexis only found out that her sister had been drugged to death when she had been taken to the facility as well, her parents murdered for having resisted her abduction. She met Bryan, Julius' twin, in the Institute and together they came up with a plot to protect all those 'supers' coming after them. Alexis' escape set in motion the events leading up to the Civil War during which she quietly steered the group to victory and safety.
Four years later she is married to Bryan and the two of them travel around the world while occasionally returning back to the Boarding School. Why they are gone for so long and what they are doing appears to be a secret between the two of them.
Name: Bryan Ragnarson
Appearance/Description: Bryan looks identical to Julius but has a heavier air around him with sadder, angrier eyes. His time in the Institute is still very much with him and he has less forgiveness in him than Julius.
Power: Flames, or rather explosions. Bryan can cause explosions by forcing chemicals in the air together to force an explosion. He also has a hyper regeneration ability due to possessing Julius' eyes.
Bio: Bryan was of the Second Generation taken to the Institute and for his part in Alexis' escape was drugged heavily until his mind was corrupted. He hunted Julius and his friends until eventually Alexis was able to restore his sanity through electro therapy as per their plan. After that he joined the group and used his inside knowledge to get them the information they needed to ensure their freedom. He was also instrumental in the Civil War and since then has spent his time travelling with his wife, Alexis.
Personality: Bryan is usually calm and collected, just like his twin brother, but is more impulsive and can be more ruthless in his pursuits.
Name: Maribeth Wilson
Maribeth is a small girl, to say the least. She stands at roughly 5'2" or 5'3". She's got dark long hair, down to the small of her back, and blue eyes, along with fair skin. Due to her petite size, she looks dainty, almost fragile; but don't let that fool you. Being from up north, in Seattle, she played girls lacrosse for her high school and even roller derby outside of school. She's athletic and can take a hit even if she looks like she can't lift a chair.
Power: Telekinesis. If too much pressure is put on and not enough energy is available, chances are that she could pass out, cause bleeding, or worse; death. With the years going on and her power getting stronger, she found that she had developed telepathy. It's minor, nothing great like em planting memories and such. She uses this to speak to others in their minds, and she can hear what they have to say. When doing this, her mind isn't cluttered with what everyone is thinking. She can chose who to hear and block everyone else out. She can also block others from reading or going into her mind and knows when someone is trying to do so.
Personality: Maribeth is a nice girl once you get to know her. At first, she may seem sarcastic and cocky, but it's how she is. She isn't afraid about talking to others first either. She has a kind heart and she's loyal to her friends, but she has a temper that gets her into trouble. Aside from that, she's a sweet girl to talk to. Rather funny at times.
Skills: Growing up as an army brat, and a daddy's girl, her dad spent as much time with her as possible. He would take her out hunting or to the shooting range, making her skilled with guns. She knows how to survive if lost in the wilderness, and she can cook pretty damn good.
Talents: Playing the guitar and dancing. She might have grown up with a bit of a tomboy life, but she's always had a thing for dancing.
Bio: Before everyone started acting weird, before her friends began to give her the cold shoulder, and before her own father began to push her away, Maribeth lived a pretty normal life in Seattle. She had decent grades, enough to keep her on the lacrosse team, and she was the co captain of it. Everyone started acting different towards her in her last year of high school. She didn't know what exactly was going on. It wasn't until graduation, when they had all finished walking across the stage and were receiving the last speech that she knew what she could do. Maybe it was because if all the excitement? Or maybe because she was accidentally hit on the side and surprised, but when everyone threw their caps up in the air, they didn't come down. The whole auditorium gasped as they saw the caps floating. Although no one found out that day that it was her, she could feel that she had done it. Her first semester of college was the worst. No one dared speak to her, and her dad wouldn't even look her in the eyes anymore. It was finals week and she began stressing out. During one of the last classes, a girl sitting next to her had made a rude comment and she snapped. The chair underneath the girl flew from the wall as Maribeth stood up, and she had to be escorted off campus. That same evening the men in the van came and took her away. Her father didn't even take a second look before shutting the door.
House of Powers Experience: Maribeth, at the time of the escape, was still developing her abilities. She wasn't left wounded as badly like the others, but she was tested on in more gruesome ways. She still bares the scars on her thighs, forearms and around her head. They are barely visible but if one pays attention, they can see them. She did manage to kill a scientist and harm a few others before escaping with the others. Although she still has issues controlling her powers when she becomes stressed or upset, she's realized that ever since her first surgery under the scientists' hands, her power has developed immensely and continues so. Since the escape, she hasn't returned home and has just kept moving from city to city, trying to find out who was behind the project.
Four years later: After the civil war took place, Maribeth spent her time with many politicians, gathering funds to make the school possible. She now teaches a couple of classes at the Academy alongside her old friends.
Name: Diego Gomez Jr.
Nickname: "Pedro" (School nickname) "Jr." "Superman" (Given to him by Maribeth (Mari))
Diego stands at 6'0, and is muscular/athletic due to sports. He now has long scars up his arms, legs, and torso from one of the scientists "examinations", and bad scarring form his hands due to blistering in another of their experiments. After being shot through the abdomen by the Commander of the Coup, he has two circular scars, one on his front, and one on his back.
Power: Ability to fly, the ability to mimic powers/power absorption. Through "extensive research" at the facility, it is noted that Diego can also absorb raw elements (i.e. fire, electricity, etc.), and use them like a normal power. Through the years, he has been able to increase his abilities so that he can now use both powers simultaneously, and so that he does not need to actually touch the person/thing he is absorbing the power from.
Personality: Diego is now a much more open person than he used to be. He doesn't keep to himself, and he is more susceptible to making friends and trusting people now that he has realized most of the errors of his past. He likes kids, and likes working with kids. Although he is stern, and can sometimes come off as an ass, he means well. Although he doesn't show it, not in the school, anyway, he is big into partying. Diego is a good person to confide in, meaning he is a good listener. He also believes he gives good advice.
Athletics: Diego was a star lineman in football, an excellent soccer player, and a great runner/climber. Now, he dabbles in a few sports when he wants to.
Music: Diego spent a lot of free time being a DJ for many parties, and social events. He has DJ'd for the president's daughter for her 17th birthday, and DJ's many other events/parties/etc. In his free time, he DJ's for a local club.
Academics: He is a hard worker and a very intelligent man. He planned to become a neurosurgeon, but now that the school has opened, he has devoted his time to help the kids learn and grow, and hopefully accept who they are.
Bio: Born into a wealthy family, Diego had a pretty good life. He was a major figure in high school, always going to parties, or being a DJ for some. He was also friends with almost everyone. Life was good for him until he started having weird things happen to him. He would walk down the street, or be in a track meet, and he would seem to jump a lot farther than the rest of the kids, eventually he learned that he could go long distances in the air, and eventually fly. That is when he was taken away, upon being taken to the lab, he was also informed that he could mimic others' powers by touching them. Other details of his life are only revealed to those he truly trusts, and those who he feels he can confide in.
House of Powers experience: Diego was just like the others, taken from his family, thrown into the "House of Powers" Program, and tested on like a lab rat. Although he wasn't injured as bad as a few of his companions (Julius having his eyes essentially gouged out, Allister having her sister killed in front of her), only being cut open and badly blistered, he harbors more hate toward the scientists than the others. This is mostly due to the fact that he considers the others he close friends, and the more they hurt them, the more filled with hate he became. He was able to escape with the others, but not before killing one of the scientists (secretly, so that the others would find out) slowly and very painfully.
World of Powers experience: After escaping from the House of Powers, Diego was filled with hate and rage for anyone associated with the House program. His anger and hatred got the better of them, and he eventually became evil, doing whatever he could to find more about the House of Powers, even torturing/killing humans to get information. He began to hate the humans, believing that they would never accept them for who they really were. It wasn't until after he had helped stop the Coup, more for personal reasons and just wanting to kill, and was shot, did he realize the mistakes he had made, and the relationships he had almost destroyed with his friends.
In the years following the World of powers experience, he helped with the opening of the school, and further developed a relationship with Mari, one of his friends from the House.
Other: He teaches power development (sort of a sparring class that helps students better realize their powers, and helps develop them).
Name: Allister Ragnarson (Maiden name: Morgan)
Nickname: Al or Alli
Appearance: Her hair is a light brown and falls to her elbows. Usually she keeps it pulled back, and out of her face. Her eyes are a light green, and she is 5'9" and has a slightly athletic build. https://p.gr-assets.com/540x540/fit/...810/500459.jpg
Power: Emotion Manipulation, can make herself or a target feel certain emotion(s).
Personality: Quiet, blunt, and intelligent.
Skills/Talents: She can sing fairly well, and is great with electronics and woodcraft.
Bio: She was always a quiet girl, hardly talking and when she did it was never complete sentences. Her expression seemed to be....well, she lacked expression. One day, she noticed her mother was crying, and she couldn't really figure out why. Al did her best to comfort, but eventually just whispered, "Be...happy...please..." It was so unnatural, how her mother suddenly smiled and wiped away the tears. At first, Allister didn't understand it, but after awhile of toying- unknowingly- with people's emotions, she noticed what effect she could actually make, and how many emotions one person could feel. She had, accidentally, caused someone she held dear to her...to feel deep sorrow, which eventually led to his suicide. Her family decided that after this event...Ally was...dangerous. They made the call and her mother couldn't even look at her as she was dragged away, slowly falling unconscious.
House Of Powers Experience: Allister had neglected to get close nor speak to anyone at the start of her stay. Of course, she couldn't avoid things completely and soon came to know and trust Julius, even gaining some emotions towards him that she was far too embarrassed to ever admit. She did her part in escaping, refusing thoroughly to end any lives. She has a few large scars; one down each of her limbs, and one across her forehead which she often uses her hair to cover up. She bore emotional scarring as well, which is often why now, having escaped, she mostly pretends as if the stay at the facility never happened. Although, she is quite paranoid and will not go remotely close to her hometown, having a deep fear of her family despising her.
After escaping and encountering numerous battles, she disdains war, and with good reason, too. She has matured quite with time, but still retains a childish side of her. Of course, over the last four years, her relationship with Julius grew. She spent most of her time with him, and she genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. When Julius proposed, Allister was beyond elated, and teared up as she said yes. It wasn't long, though, before she was saying her vows at their wedding, which was amazing by her standards, but simple still.
hey guys, guess what? MYSTERY CHARACTER OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~
Name: Lucy Wright AKA "Warp"
Singularity- Lucy can travel from point A to point B by collapsing the space in between, then expanding it again with her on the other side. the outward effect looks like teleportation, but it's far more complicated from inside.
Spacial Disturbance- Lucy can "warp" an area of space, causing it to bend similar to the area around a black hole. she can use this to deflect attacks or even turn them back. the more she warps space, the more energy she uses and the larger the angle an object will be deflected.
Spontaneous Expansion/Compression: Lucy can cause a small area of space to suddenly and violently expand or contract, creating a large shock wave or implosion.
Bio: Lucy was one of the few to escape the first waves of capture and experimentation. she managed to keep a low profile, living on the run and practicing her power in secret until she was sure it was safe.
Personality: Lucy is somewhat impulsive, as shown by her near constant change of hair color.
Name: Pierce Hemingway
Time Limit Manipulation- Pierce has the most peculiar power over time. It is complex but also very limited, and its very nature itself is completely paradoxical. The way Pierce's power affects time is that it manipulates time limits. These limits are themselves limited to what Pierce can conceive and Pierce can manipulate all limits except the limits of his own power. These powers can therefore be used to change various minor things as long as they are within Pierce's perceivable space, that is what he can see, feel, touch, hear or taste. In these ways, Pierce can change the time it takes for the arrow to reach him, however, he must first be able to see the arrow. If he were firing a gun, he could also change the limit of its reload time. He can also change the maximum volume of a sound, but only given that he can hear it. He can also do various things such as learning a language by decreasing the time limit in which he can learn the language, and also hold his breath longer by increasing the time in which he can hold his breath.
Bio: Pierce was a person who had a truly fascinating childhood. He was born to a typical middle class family with parents who loved him, and brothers and sisters to share toys with him. His father being the family's bread winner, was often not at home. He was busy making money for the family, though every so often he would have a vacation allowing him much needed time to spend with his family. Pierce at school was a normal kid. He had a decent amount of friends and spent his days playing and fighting bullies. By the age of ten, nobody bullied him; not because he had his powers back then but simply because there was no need for a power struggle. He was allowed to live his life, things getting better as his father got more free time at home. However, one day, his father picked up an unusual hobby; he became a murderer. Eventually, Pierce's father's hobby got out of hand. His mother and siblings were all killed, Pierce being the last. That's when he discovered his powers. He reduced the time it took for the knife his father used to rust, breaking the knife and keeping him alive just long enough for the police to come. He attended a boarding school from then on before finally entering the School of Powers.
Personality: Pierce is a man who believes to preserve his masculine traits. He therefore acts tough at all times, keeping a stoic face for the public to see. When met with a challenge, he refuses to back down, and when he notices something unjust, he finds a way to fix it. Pierce is also a man who likes getting things done. When a problem is at hand, he tries to fix it immediately, his brain always trying to find the best way to solve a problem.
Name: Nadia Forton (Nia)
Power: Illusion- Nia can project images directly into a person's mind, or multiple people, to make them think it's real. Having only just discovered her ability, the images are choppy and flicker, as if they were something from Star Wars. The time she can project is limited, as is how many people she can make see it.
Personality: Nadia is a metal head. She adores music, metal in particular of course, and will always carry headphones and an ipod or something of that sort with her. She can be both the loudest and quietest person you know. She's easy to get along with, and will occasionally make a sarcastic or humorous remark.
Bio: Nadia is a fairly open person, and she grew up with little to no abnormality. When she was ten, she would watch the news with her father and older siblings, and soon enough, Julius became her idol. With time, her adoration of his work waned, as did her excitement and wonderment of if she would have a power.
When she hit thirteen, she thought that the possibility of her having a power was incredibly low, and she gave up hope. Well, until she was messing with her avid imagination and projected a vivid image of one of her 'creations'. Of course, it was something somewhat demented, but that was a side of her that she enjoyed because they were products of her mind naturally. She was frightened at first, and when she reached out to touch it, it felt so real. It felt solid. After a few days, she realized that it was her, that she actually had an ability!
In due time, she showed her parents, who immediately enrolled her into the School of Powers. After a little while, her former idolization returned, and she was actually excited to meet Julius Ragnarson.
-Weight: 105 lbs
-Eye Colour: Ice blue
-Hair Colour: Platinum Blonde
-General Attire: Vera prefers her clothes in darker shades, which are usually easy to move around in. As she enjoys a certain level of luxury her clothes are well made and of good quality while not being loud or exaggerated. She wears high heeled shoes to make up for her being vertically challenged.
Vera inherited the ability to control her own memory as well as others.
Knowledge Replication: Copying the memories of others to learn their knowledge. This includes muscle memory to a certain extent. She can replicate and store the subject’s mental knowledge such as blueprints, passkeys or other such information. Languages or other complicated knowledge require repeated replications in segments.
Memory Erasure: Vera is able to completely erase memories of others as well as herself. She can erase specific memories, the smaller and less significant ones with ease but the more important ones require concentration and extreme care. She needs to be completely thorough as even a single leftover fragment can raise suspicions. It would require an immense amount of concentration and practice.
Memory Modification and Implantation: The ability to modify or forcibly implant memories into the minds of others. Vera can modify an already existing memory ; this requires less energy and concentration than implanting a completely foreign memory. She can ‘spam’ someone’s mind with junk memories, this doesn’t require much concentration. While it isn’t exactly harmful as the target can easily recognize and dispel the foreign memories or fragments afterwards, it causes confusion and major headaches.
Memory Reading: She can view a person’s existing memories therefore learning their past. She can also replay and search through her memories, acquired or otherwise with ease.
- All her abilities require physical contact.
- For her more powerful abilities (Memory Erasure, Implantation) the target needs to be asleep or unconscious. Her other powers require less effort if the target is asleep/unconscious
- When reading the memories of another person’s, she can get caught in a memory and experience the same trauma as her target if said memory is powerful enough, if she is startled by an outside force causing her to lose concentration.
- Even after she manages to unattach herself from the target’s mind, it can sometimes cause a whiplash effect making her experience the target’s emotions for a short time.
- Telepaths and other such supers have increased resistance.
- She needs to take care when duplicating memories as an overload of information can cause extreme headaches to unconsciousness.
-Vera is extremely good at entering (without breaking anything) being able to scale walls and having the agility of a cat. She can give an Olympic gymnast a run for her money.
-Novels (Science fiction and crime, not romance)
-Fluffy animals (Hamsters and other rodents excluded)
-Kids (she doesn’t have any problems with them when they’re at least 10ft away)
-Babies (they terrify her)
-Idiots (self-important, braggarts, self-righteous people all go into this category. More to be added, possibly)
-Ferris Wheels. (She has an unnatural fear of them. She expects it to just roll off like a giant hamster wheel)
At first glance Vera appears to be a nice and friendly girl who neither stands out nor fades into the background. Dig deeper and you’ll find that she’s actually quite cynical and distrustful. Due to the nature of her power she has been treated with mistrust, even by other supers. Over time this has left her emotionally scarred though she won’t admit it, not even to herself. She doesn’t have any real friends. Just people she considers temporary allies and assets. She fills the psychological need for companionship and warmth by stealing another’s happy memories or creating her own as deep down she is terrified of being rejected again. Though she is envious of those more fortunate (in terms of memories not wealth) she harbors no hatred towards them.
Which isn’t to say that she’s socially inept. She is excellent at charming and gleaning information out of people when she puts her mind to it. No not just literally. She views most people as data sources, nothing more. Vera prefers subtlety to aggression or pointless confrontation. In combat if she deems it pointless, she would choose to flee if possible rather than fight. Her ego doesn’t demand that she win, be the stronger one.
Barely a few days old, Vera was left at the doorstep of an orphanage as a baby. She has no knowledge of her biological parents or their reasons for abandoning her nor does she have the desire to seek out the truth. She is thankful to the gods for small miracles as she could’ve been named something truly awful like Ermintrude. That however is almost all she was thankful for as the gods hadn’t chosen to shower her with blessings. She would’ve been happy with just a sprinkle but the gods weren’t feeling generous. Life in New Lilith was dark, dreary and corrupt. After all, how good can a city named for a demoness be anyway?
The orphanage like most of the establishments was corrupt. It was run by a stern and calculating woman whom everyone called Madam. If she ever had a real name was a mystery. The orphans had to pay for her kindness by stealing and running errands for her. Those who failed to meet the criteria for the day would have to go without food and be locked in ‘The Closet’. It was a small, dark cell filthy with excrement and the occasional rat. Repeat offenders would be left out at night to fend for themselves. She had a stubby finger in one of the local gangs’ drug operation and would make the kids play delivery boy from time to time.
Early in her life Vera learned to observe the people and her surroundings, predicting when and where the next threat was coming from. She learned to avoid Madam’s wrath and bided her time. When she was 11, some of the children staged an uprising during which she escaped Madam’s clutches. Alone in a city where monsters lurked in every shadow, Vera had to use every bit of knowledge just to survive. Pretty soon she joined up with one of the smaller gangs. Life was almost the same as at Madam’s. The only difference here being that she could climb up the ranks if she was clever enough.
Young and in need of someone to look up to, Vera adored James whom she ran into. A fellow misfit from the orphanage who had run away a few years ago. He’d been kind to her then. What she didn’t know, and eventually refused to see was that the past few years had changed him for the worse. He wasn’t the kind older brother anymore. The supers conflict was rapidly escalating causing even more problems in an already crappy neighborhood. The gang she was in was very anti-supers. They would torture the few young supers who came into their powers. Vera was terrified that she would turn out to be ‘a freak’ like them too.
Much to her horror, her powers manifested during a raid gone wrong when she was thirteen. Thankfully, hers wasn’t outwardly obvious. Fortunately, or rather unfortunately as she’d later come to realize, the only person who discovered it was James. He had big plans and was aiming high. He told Vera of his plan to grab leadership of the gang. He explained that he was doing it for her, if anyone discovered her power he’d be able to protect her.
Month after month he pushed her to practice her powers until she was finally able to remove specific memories and implant new ones. James was manipulative and clever; he’d already gotten most of the gang on his side. One night, he snuck her into the leader’s room and had her change his memories so that he just left, leaving James to take up the now empty leadership position.
In a couple of years James had amassed even more power with her help. Vera pretended not to see the real him. For one thing, he was all she had. For another he had accepted her even as the freak she was. And nobody else would, he continuously reminded her. By then Vera had learned she could duplicate muscle memory as well and had acquired a few basic combat moves. Despite his promises, whispers of her ability had leaked out and started circulating. She was treated with fear and disgust. Even among the few other supers in the gang.
During his reign, the gang had grown more ‘accepting’ of supers. Which basically meant they were used as weapons. James had grown increasingly cruel and she could no longer ignore it. She went to talk to him certain he’d listen to her. What she walked in surprised her. She knew she wasn’t liked but had hoped they wouldn’t outright hate her. Quite a few people had gathered to protest that she was too dangerous to keep around, be allowed to do things freely. She could wipe their minds in their sleep, how were they to know that she hadn’t brainwashed James already? Vera waited silently for James to defend her. To convince them she was an equal member.
“Freedom? All I allow her is the illusion of it. She does what I say when I say. She is mine to do with as I please, a powerful weapon to be used. Nothing more. Have you not seen how our influence grows? If I had shunned supers we’d still be back where we started. This is why I tolerate her. Don’t ever question my judgment again. Know your places.”
Vera stood rooted to the spot as hurt blossomed in her chest, threatening to suffocate her. She turned back quietly and walked aimlessly, the tears flowing freely as soon as she got out of eyesight. By the time she was done the sun had set and the light had long faded along with her hurt. Anger replaced it and roiled in her like a snake. Vera walked back calmly, her face set in grim determination. She entered James’ room quietly and looked down at his sleeping profile. Placing her hand gently on his forehead she brushed back his bangs and waited for him to wake up. After a few moments he opened his eyes blearily and looked up at her, the surprise in his eyes turning to fear.
“Ve-“ He began but it was too late. “Goodbye James.” Vera smiled at him. It was a cold smile, beautiful and malicious. He didn’t even have time to scream as the force of her power slammed into his brain and he grew slack. When he woke up, if he woke up he wouldn’t remember anything. Not even himself.
After leaving the gang, Vera joined up with a bunch of other supers who were on the run. Maybe this time things would be different, she had hoped. She was wrong. Sure they weren’t cruel like James but they too feared her power. They were wary and kept their distance. Even with her own kind, she never belonged. The years were difficult for Vera, both physically and emotionally. It had slowly turned her cynical and bitter. By that time she had heard rumors of a special school for supers, run by supers who were supposedly heroes. Vera paid it no heed. Caught for squatting, miraculously the policeman who caught her turned out to be a decent human being. Her ‘friends’ had abandoned her at the first sign of trouble. He didn’t want to arrest a teenager to whom the fates were unkind to. He gave her a choice, she could either serve time at a correctional facility like a delinquent or she could go to the special school. Having no desire to be locked up, she chose the school.
Pain illusion - The ability to psionically trigger the pain centers in the brain and trick an individual's mind into thinking they are in burning pain. Though it has no affect on the body physically, it is very useful and formidable, thus making it one of the most powerful known abilities. Jaymi can induce an excruciatingly painful sensation of burning in anyone of his choosing. The sensation is powerful enough to incapacitate him/her to the point they are writhing in agony on the ground, until the illusion is lifted by him. That pain is described as your whole body being burned alive. He can perform this power from a far distance, as long as he can see his target. If held long enough, the individual could pass out due to overload of the brain.
Limitations: Jaymi's power merely allows him to inflict pain on one person at a time. This renders him vulnerable against several enemies, though he can redirect his focus to keep them at bay. Not many are aware of this, however, since Jaymi's presence alone scares people out of fear he might use his ability on them. Since this power is illusionary, it does no damage to his targets physically. (Power will eventually grow to where he can affect more than one person at a time.)
Telepathic Immunity - (Sub-ability) Jaymi is immune to any and all mental intrusion. This includes defense against psychic or empathic powers, hypnosis, as well as illusions and deception. Mind readers only “hear” static, while mind controllers are incapable of manipulating him.
Sadly, Jaymi was another kid susceptible to bullying as cliche as it may sound. He wasn't always picked on, however. Most of his life was rather normal with normal parents and normal friends. He went through elementary and middle school with a breeze until he got to high school. Most would describe him at first as a rather calm, but chipper individual. Funny how bullying can change a person's entire being. Jaymi never knew why they were gunning for him. They just did. Maybe it was his kind spirit or they felt he could be taken for granted. Whatever it was, they leeched off of it. They tormented the poor boy nonstop while others did nothing to come to his aid. Teachers wouldn't do anything, and his parents passed it off as simple child's play. But there is a time when a person snaps and they've had enough.
While being confronted by the taunters, Jaymi merely stared them down with anger in his eyes. That's when it happened. The ring leader of the group fell to the ground screaming in agonizing pain. No one knows what happened or how it happened. Jaymi merely stared at him while he writhed in pain, being tortured by the illusion of pain. It was enough to scar the kid and his friends for a good while and leave Jaymi alone. He didn't know how he did it, but it seemed to scare people away from him. During this time, Jaymi developed in what you would call a dick or an asshole. He had good reason. No one ever came to his aid and now he had means to defend himself. He grew cold, and uncaring for others to the point he wrote off those that were friends. Or what he thought were friends since they did nothing to prove their worth before hand. Over time he became more cynical, witty, sarcastic, and lethal. Most of this was just a shield to prevent people from taking advantage of him. He was still insecure with himself and the bullying really took a toll. However he won't let anyone in any time soon. Realizing that he had no one to confide in about his gifts or any knowledge as to why he had them, he did a little research and found himself at a boarding school for people like him.
Jaymi is very smart despite his first impression, but he has a cynical and witty nature. He's known for being full of sarcasm. He can also be extremely blunt and often confrontational with others. He has a very morbid sense of humor, with a sweet yet highly lethal charm. Jaymi can also be very cold and uncaring when dealing with people and seems apathetic to the concerns of others. He is very adept at reading people and constantly distances himself from others by speaking his observations candidly and plainly. As a result, he has difficulty holding down a job or keeping a lot of friends. He is, however, fiercely protective of his loved ones. Even to a fault, often hating those who could cause them harm. Anyone who dares to insult Jaymi had better watch out, because he will gladly let them know exactly where they can stick their unkind words. He doesn't take kindly to sass from anyone. Although he doesn't really talk about his personal life, Jaymi is in fact homosexual. But since he isn't portrayed as the stereotypical gay person, people don't often know until he tells them.
Ariana is average height and weight with a slender, athletic build. She has brown hair the color of oakwood, streaked with shades of red that falls just below her shoulder blades. Her tanned skin is adorned by sweeping, colorful works of art; tattoos that caress one side of her torso, and the curve of her wasit. Hidden beneath layers of clothing, a careful observer is teased with fleeting glimpses of vivid color when she moves and her clothing shifts just enough out of place. High, curving cheekbones along with other gentle features give her a delicate appearance
+Illusion Manipulation with a twist!: can create and manipulate illusions, causing people to see, hear, touch, smell and/or taste things which do not actually exist or cause them to perceive things differently from what they truly are. Ariana is able to bring her and someone else into an in illusion like world she can alter to some extent- what ever happens to the both users in the realm happens to their body in the real world, thus making this a useful combat power. She does not have to bring a full illusion, it could just be something small in the real world. Her attacking/ combat strength does not change in either places
+Intuitive Aptitude: The power to instantly learn and understand the complexity and exactness of organisms, objects, and even powers without the need of long-term or special education. The fastness of learning will not effect her current illusion power, as one of the huge points of the roleplay is to get stronger. This would effect things that she is no enhancing powers in, like combat.
+ weaker Nullification powers
Bio: Ariana was born and raised in the urban sprawl of what was once Chicago. Her mother and father were unnamed Russian immigrants who arrived in the city long after the great collapse of society. With the death or simply disappearance of her parents before she was two, she grew up under the care of her paternal uncle, who while neither the most ambitious nor clever man was at heart a decent person. In the beginning, before her uncle's alcoholism took its toll on his health and prospects of employment they lived simply, but well, at least in comparison to many others in the hood, until the state finally had enough and took her away to be adopted at 5. The people who adopted her remained supportive of her growth, but Ariana continued to see through them and missed her actual parents dearly. Even at a young age, it was hard to forget the feelings of loosing them- up until she discovered her hidden powers at age 15, really too young to really get through to herself that showing a 'couple' people like her close friends and step parents would end her up in a white van. (i think this is how they are taken away?)
Ariana is a very lively teenager. She believes in embracing what life has to offer before it slips away, and tries the make the most of her daily life. She is a very playful person, often seen joking or laughing with others. However, when she thinks others aren’t watching, she tends to fall into deep thought and contemplation. She often questions the world around her, and although she wears a strong and competitive face, she also has a very sensitive side. To keep herself from feeling too vulnerable, she tends to put walls up to others. Because she keeps most people at a safe distance, she is difficult to get close to. However, she genuinely enjoys the company of others and is not difficult to get along with. Although she frequently has frightening dreams, she is brave and strong-willed. She is somewhat self-sacrificing when it comes to her loved ones and goes to great lengths to protect the people she cares for as long as they have not gotten on her bad side.
Name: Samuel Peterson
Power: Samuel can make things that are inanimate alive to do his bidding. Weather it be to get him an apple, or to sneak into the FBI's base. He can also make them inanimate again, in case you didn't know.
Bio: Samuel was born to a rich family in southern USA. He grew up an only child, and his rich parents gave him anything he wanted. He became quite a spoiled brat, but, of course, his parents saw him as a perfect angel. He grew up with few friends, and was often lonely. He went to his mother, and she just said that they were envious of him, and if they weren't nice enough to be friendly, they weren't nice enough to be his friend. He wasn't convinced, however, and after class he went to his teacher and asked about her. The teacher saw that he was sincerely lonely, and told him that he was often bragging about himself, and only doing stuff that interested him. At first Samuel was angry, but as time went on, he saw that his teacher was right. He tried harder to be nice and friendly. At first the other students were suspicious, but eventually they gave him a chance and he didn't disappoint them. He became quite popular, but good things never last, and out of nowhere his power appeared. People grew afraid of him, and his parents left to seek answers. On their way to who knows where, they had a car accident. Neither of them survived. Samuel was devastated. He thought it was his fault, and he never forgave himself. He was adopted by a couple who's only thoughts were on his money. They treated him like dirt, and never let him have time for friends. Bit by bit, he taught himself how to control his power, and though he thought about it a lot, he never used it on his adopted parents. When they heard about the school for children with super powers, they sent him there, and kept his money with them.
Personality: Samuel is quite and shy. Ever since his powers went wild a few years ago, he's stayed to himself, afraid that he'll do something terrible to someone. He's long since gotten control of his power, but the years he had spent fighting it left him lost and alone.
Name: Rhiannon Jones
Nickname(s): Gwen (in reference to Guinevere)
Basic Description: Rhiannon was born with the famous Celtic red hair her more wild ancestors were famed for. She has a round face with a little nose which, along wither her height, make her look even younger than she is. Her piercing blue eyes give her a fearsome expression, especially with her waist-length hair unbound and wild. Thin and wiry she almost looks underfed, especially with her slight height of five foot and an inch tall. She tends to wear below-the-knee length skirts of a single, calm, colour and white or pale coloured blouses, sporting hoodies when the weather becomes colder.
Power: 'Mimicry' however she only uses Julius' power which she copied so everyone believes her ability is the same as his.
Bio: Rhiannon was born in Wales, near the town of Machynlleth in Ceredigion. Brought up in a Welsh-speaking family she was taught in both English and Welsh and has a firm accent which has stayed resiliently strong despite her time in the States. She copied several abilities from 'supers' in her town but unlike them she had an unaccepting guardian.
Having lived with her abusive Aunt for several years, both her parents long dead from a flash flood, Rhiannon was quickly packed off to the States to an institution promising to 'cure' those with abilities like herself. She was only there for a month before the company behind the institution collapsed and the inmates were freed. She was returned to Britain but to the care of the British Guardians rather than her Aunt. Eventually Lady Elena, a Major in the Guardians, brought Rhiannon back to the States and placed her in Julius' care.
Personality: Rhiannon is quiet most of the time due to her long life of being abused by her alcoholic Aunt. The brief stint she stayed in one of the Institutions in the States hardly helped and so she fears contact with most anyone.
Name: Marc Willems
He stands 1.89 meters tall and has an average build. Most of his face is covered as shown in the image, and he usually wears sunglasses, also inside. He also always wears gloves. Underneath this, he has short brown hair and grey eyes. He is always fully covered in clothes, to reduce the impact of his power.
Power: Marc has a strange kind of modified nerve system that gives him multiple abilities.
-Enhanced Hearing. Marc can pick up more frequencies than normal people, he's also able to hear sounds at a much lower volume. He can pick up nearly any sound and might be able to single this out through multiple layers.
-Enhanced Sight. He's able to see with unbelievable clarity and sharpness, he can also see from a much further distance and is even able to 'see' some ultraviolet or infra-red as well as seeing higher frequencies.
-Enhanced Smell. He's able to smell much better than bloodhounds and is able to single it out through multiple layers.
-Enhanced Taste. He has a much more refined taste pallet and can 'taste' things from a distance and single stuff out. He's even able to find traces of substances that are many times diluted.

He is also able to feel the temperatures of items at a distance and is able to tell the slightest temperature changes. He's also able to feel the breath of someone standing on the other side of a sports field.
-Enhanced reflexes. His nervous systems is much better at handling information, giving him superior reflexes.
-Control over his nervous systems. He's ale to shut down certain parts of his nervous systems, for example, his pain receptors. He still get's hurt, but is unable to feel it.
The downside to this is that he can't control any of this yet. He lives in constant pain, because he can't shut this off. He is constantly feeling his surroundings and sensing everything around him. He's overstimulated to the point of pain. Because of this he always covers his entire body and senses to dim them down. Despite covering all of this up, he's still more aware of his surroundings than other humans, and he's still in pain. At times he wakes up blind, numb, deaf or has lost his entire sense of smell or taste.
With a lot of concentration he's able to focus one of his senses, but most of the time it's involuntary.
Bio: Marc was born and raised in a medium sized city and lived a rather normal life. He always had better senses than other kids, but nothing extraordinary. This all changed when he turned 16. From that moment on his life turned upside down, often having headaches, seeing stuff others didn't or waking up blind or deaf. After many medical examinations they found out his strange nervous system was the cause of this and he was sent to the School of Powers to try and control his. To dim his pains he has developed a addiction to painkillers and alcohol.
Personality: Despite his life of pain he is a very friendly and cheerful kind of person. That is, if he's not plagued by his pains. During this he might turn very annoyed. He's very loyal and has a strong sense of justice, however he hates violence and hurting people.

Increased Density- Julia's body is almost three times as dense as a normal human, making her much more resistant to damage.

Name: Vivian Rains
She is usually wearing a black cowboy hat that used to be her mother's, and a black duster that belonged to her father. She has green eyes, though they turn white when using her powers.
Power: the ability to become a ghost. Pass through walls, turn invisible, light telekenisis, and illusions.
Bio: daughter to a good old fashioned Texas couple, Vivian grew up on a ranch. She was homeschooled by her mother who was a science teacher, before quitting when she married. She helped with the animals and crops though her favorite part was riding the horses.
Vivian is unsure if her powers saved her life, or taking a solid form is a talent she gained from dying and becoming a ghost. She was in a plain crash with her family, only to be found unharmed and unconscious among the remains of the the passengers. She woke up in the hospital, and was questioned extensively. When the questions became too much for her and all she wanted to do was disappear, she did. It was then she discovered her powers, and was also sent to the school. She is unaware of the extent of her powers, and at the moment is simply practicing at taking her ghost form.
Personality: Vivian is cynical and tends to have a dark sense of humor. She is generally nice to others, and tries to help out when she can, though she still has her emo moments of grieving over her parents.
Name: Sam Almond
Appearance/Description: Sam dresses neatly in a faded white suit, with trimmed hair and a thoughtful air that seems to encircle him. He wears dark glasses constantly.
Power: Sam has the ability to teleport at will, building up energy over long periods of time in order to greater execute his powers. Teleportation occurs instantly and Sam can also transport anyone touching him, though the number of guests tagging along will impact his abilities significantly. In order to use his powers to their full extent, Sam avoids exerting himself unnecessarily, spending the majority of his time building up future energy for use in teleportation. Teleporting short distances is second nature to him, though goals further afield require preparation time.
Bio: Precious little is known about Sam's past due to his sheer reluctance to explain his origins - though it can be assumed that his upbringing was relatively uneventfully. What has been pieced together through various fragments are a number of small certainties. These include the fact that his father worked the night shift at a telecommunications base and Sam would often tag along and that Sam's teleportation powers had just appeared one day without prior warning. Through hook or crook, Sam found his way into the school of powers - though even he knows little of how he got there nor of where he originated from.
Personality: Sam is lax beyond all belief, hiding his eyes behind dark glasses in order to disguise the fact that he often sleeps on his feet. He is a light sleeper however, switching on and off at will so as to avoid his resting being noticed by those around him. When he is needed by teammates, Sam releases the built up energy to engage; his lax nature slipping away for the duration of the action. It's the combination of these contrasting, almost nocturnal, mannerisms that earned Sam the nickname "Owl" from his peers. Sam enjoys social interaction, even if he is not part of it, thus he is content to sit on the sidelines and simply listen to the stories of others. He enjoys being read to, or simply to listen though he dislikes being forced into the midst of awkward social situations for fear that his quietness will arouse anger. Sam is a thinker, contemplating his surroundings silently and thinking long and hard before speaking, ensuring that every word is absolutely necessary.
Name: Sophia Talsey
Appearance/Description: Sophia's ghostly pale skin contrasts sharply with the rest of her features; she has long midnight hair, dark brown eyes, and tends to wear dark clothing that covers most of her body. She is thin and of about average height for her age. She has a few thin, white scars on various parts of her body.
Power: Sophia can control shadows and, to a lesser extent, darkness. The extent to which she can do this depends on how thoroughly she is shrouded in darkness. If more than 50% of her skin is exposed to light her powers fade completely until she is surrounded by darkness or shadows. This is why she wears clothes that tend to cover up her body, leaving her skin in the dark. When she is in sufficiently much darkness, she can extend tendrils of shadow into lighted regions. The more/larger the tendrils, the harder this is. These tendrils can be extremely thin, in which case they tend to slice through anything they touch. The tendrils are much easier to make if they stay within dark regions. Sophia can make her body get absorbed into the darkness/shadows. While it's absorbed, she can make modifications to it (such as healing smaller wounds) as well as travel very quickly through dark areas.
Bio: Despite growing up in a middle class family and environment, Sophia was spoiled as a child. She had no siblings, so her parents focused all their attention on her. It didn't have the effects they intended. It didn't take Sophie long to start thinking of toys and the like as dull objects, and the hobbies and interests of most of her peers were equally disdained. She ended up finding herself a loner who read more than anything else. Living vicariously through stories became her obsession, and she had trouble finding joy in almost anything else. It was when she was 15 that she began to notice oddities. For reasons she couldn't grasp, boys seemed to want her attention, and she hated it. Those boys would often get cuts while they were at school, but often not within her sight, and she could never explain it. On occasion, they couldn't find her even when they looked right at her. This strangeness was not confined to those boys. Anyone who annoyed her too much tended to get injured. Sometimes, people she barely knew experienced the slashes, and a few times Sophie herself suffered from inexplicable wounds. As time progressed, this only worsened. Sophie would wake up in the middle of the night for whatever reason and find herself in odd places that she was vaguely familiar with, like on the top of a neighbor's house or in the school bathroom. Before long, she realized that she had vague control over these trips; she was going places she had dreamt about, or thought about in passing. Eventually, she strange abilities began to take over her life, and she had to seek out help.
Personality: Sophia is quite reserved. She rarely chooses to associate with others, and when she does, she tends to be quite awkward. She doesn't have a whole lot of self confidence. As a result, she usually prefers to use her intellect to manipulate others into taking care of more challenging tasks. To strangers, she comes off as cold, but she actually is quite tender with the few people she trusts. Her allegiance is to people. not ideas, so some think of her as amoral.
Name: Andrew Sol
Appearance/Description: (Pictures/photos are acceptable with a small bit of text). His original form doesn't have many key features. He is a tall, slender figure with dirty blonde hair that is normally not groomed out of laziness. His eyes are a strange gold, which cares though any form he takes, allowing a keen eye to recognize him even when he uses his ability, in fact his eye color is one of the few things he can change.
Power: (again, please no god modding). Shape-Shifting (He is able to transform to anything he has touched up to a size limit. The exact size limit is unsure, but he has enough stored massed hidden in his body for at east a large bear or stallion. He must have touched whatever he is going to turn in once while it was living, but after that he can store the needed information for presumably the rest of his life. What ever he transforming to most be biotic and can only be so small, like a mouse, and he can transform into different humans.), Animal Communication and Empathy
Bio: Andrew always thought he was normal. Andrews ability never even appeared until he just recently had a doctor's appointment where his doctor found out about his secrets stores of mass. The doctor was at first confused by them, thinking they may be cancerous, however he had no symptoms. He was perfectly healthy. The doctor began to silently suspect it may be some sort of dormate power and using a simple test managed to trigger a reflex causing his hand to change into a paw. Confused and frightened, as he knew very little about people with powers, he was shipped off the academy without much struggling.
Personality: He is intelligent, but only when it comes to books. He is horrible at math and common sense, and is easily manipulated and fooled. This is only made worst by his kind personality and his willingness to go out of his way to try help people, one of the reasons he didn't resist going to the academy. Though is also easily frightened and can be a bit of a nervous wreck at times, though tends to recover quickly.
Name: Atticus Tyren
--Atticus stands about 5'10", weighs 162lbs, and has dark blonde hair and brown eyes. His build is long-limbed and light, strong in a way but clearly not very athletic. He typically wears very preppy clothes: suit jackets, sweater vests, and pastel polo shirts.--[/FONT]
Atticus Tyren – When getting kicked out of his home, his father refused to allow his son, a ‘freak’, to tarnish his family’s name and so forced Atticus to go by his mother’s maiden name, Tyren, instead.
Blood Manipulation - He is able to control the properties of blood, moving his own as if it were another limb and changing its shape and consistency at will. The blood can become very hard and very sharp, able to cut through flesh or even armors with relative ease. At the most basic level, Atticus often uses his blood to create sharp spikes that snake about and pierce his enemies but as his powers develop he is able to do much more including making barriers to block weapon strikes and bullets, entangling foes with bloody vines, and even freezing the blood in another person’s veins. This takes a lot of concentration and can be quite exhausting over extended periods of time: the bigger the use or the greater the distance from his body, the more energy is required.
It should also be noted that this blood can be lost if he suddenly loses concentration which can certainly kill him if he is overdoing it.
[General Stats-] Using a 1-10 scale: 1 being a child and 10 being better than an Olympic athlete, how does your character stand?
Strength – 4: Atticus is not particularly physical, though he does stay in shape with calisthenics.
Agility – 6: Atticus’ light build allows him to duck and weave rather quickly, reacting to attacks with surprising speed.
Intelligence – 6: Atticus is very smart, or rather very clever. He is well studied in classical music and literature can solve puzzles and riddles with ease.
Wisdom – 3: Atticus is not wise, as can be seen by his spiteful remarks and near miraculous ability to piss people off.
Constitution – 8: Though he may not look it, Atticus is surprisingly hearty. With the control over blood comes an increased healing factor and a resilience to pain that allows him to power through many wounds.
Charisma – 7: Though his lack of wisdom often leads to poor judgment and mistimed remarks, Atticus does have a certain charm from years of etiquette training. When he puts his mind to it, he can be incredibly persuasive.
Perception – 8: Growing up in the cutthroat world of the upper-class, Atticus picked up more than a few things attending the social galas and gatherings of his family’s station. He can read people very well, sensing hidden motives and lies with a near expert intuition.
Movement Speed – 6: Through his callisthenic training and with his long limbs, Atticus is a bit faster than your average runner and can go for incredibly long distances (even longer if using his powers).
Eye for Business – Though his father rarely involved Atticus in his work, the boy couldn’t help but pick up a few things regarding high-end transactions, mergers, and takeovers.
Green Thumb – Atticus spent a lot of time in his family’s high-rise garden as a child and flowers became one of his closest friends. It is a somewhat secret passion, often being done in the early hours of the morning before anyone else has risen, and it is one of the only times Atticus will willingly get his hands dirty.
Violinist – Atticus’ parents forced him into lessons from an early age as a way to entertain guests and while he at first rebelled against this notion their vicious punishments quickly brought him into line and he eventually sought the music as a refuge from their harsh rule. Now his musical ability is masterful, at levels most people only dream of, and he was even invited to play with the New York Symphony Orchestra on several occasions in his early years of high school.
Atticus is a snobby, self-absorbed individual who typically speaks with an air of arrogance most people don't understand or appreciate. It is rather clear that he believes he was 'cut from a better cloth' and that he takes great pride and care in his appearance. His poor attitude and habit of speaking his mind often creates tension between him and most people he meets, though he can rein it in when he seeks to benefit from the social interaction. When speaking with beautiful females, for example, he is much more suave and flirtatious, often showering them with compliments while presenting them with personally grown flowers. He loves nature and flowers and often keeps several personal flower boxes which are filled with rare and beautiful specimens.
While this version of Atticus is pervasive in nearly all social interactions, an entirely different person can be seen when he plays his violin. Through the instrument he is able to express many of his hidden feelings, emotions, and desires. To someone who really takes the time to listen they might discover that the ‘true’ Atticus is quite the opposite of what they first thought: a frightened and lonely boy who feels he has no place in the world.
Classical Music (mostly Bach)
People without manners
People who judge him
People who pry into his personal business and past
Being separated from ‘normal’ society
Atticus was born in New York City to two typical executive parents who had little time for their son. They expected perfection and presentability in all things and were quite harsh in their punishments whenever he strayed from the 'prim and proper'. Having few freedoms and fewer friends, he spent most of his time in his mother's rooftop garden tending to expensive flowers and plants or in his private studio practicing the violin. In the upper echelons of society, Atticus was raised to think the world owed him success and fortune and while he had a few periods of rebellion he eventually conformed to this ideal. Despite this conformity Atticus’ parents, especially his father, were constantly berating him for his flaws. Throughout most of his life he tried desperately to please them, to make them proud by doing everything they demanded, but to no avail. He was constantly being told that he would never be as good a boy as his older brother, Nathaniel, who never strayed from his parents good graces and seemed perfect in all things. Nathaniel was always kind to Atticus but he rarely had time to spend with him, being eight years older, though the younger boy looked up to him immensely. However, when Atticus was 14 years old there was an accident, a plane crash that took his brother’s life. His parents never fully recovered and instead of taking solace in their one remaining child they sought to blame him for their woes. Atticus never would be good enough, smart enough, handsome enough, to win his parent’s love.
When he turned 16 years old things took another turn for the worse and Atticus’ powers began to manifest after a prick from a very unique Amazonian flower his parents bought at a charity auction. He suddenly found himself able to control his own blood and, while terrified of the ability at first because of his parent’s open hatred of ‘supers’, the boy began to train it in secret. All was put out in the open, however, when his mother walked in on him practicing. Though he begged her not to tell his father, she went straight to the man who, after only a slight deliberation, disowned the boy, forbid him from using the family, and sent him away to a special school designed for ‘freaks like him’.
Name: Corvin King
Corvin stands at 5'9 with an athletic build minus the tattoos.
Power: Shapeshifting - Corvin is capable of shapeshifting into a multitude of animals, however he is limited to only animals he has previously touched. His strengths and weaknesses depend on the animal form he partakes in. Such as a fly, a rolled up newspaper is more than enough to kill Corvin in an instant. However, if he were to lose an arm he could transform into a salamander and allow the ability to regenerate lost limbs take over. On full moons he will not transform into a wolf, but instead into one of his various animal forms for the full duration of the night. Corvin is also capable of speaking in a few of his animal forms. His animal forms are:
Bio: Corvin grew up in a middle class family as a very sheltered boy. Corvin discovered his powers in the tenth grade when he desired to go to a party, but was refused to do so by his parents. His first transformation came about when he touched his black cat Felix. Initially horrified by this he paced about his room, meowing incessantly and making a ruckus, however he quickly adapted to the new found situation and used it to his advantage. After this, he realized something, he had a unique gift that would be a shame to not use to its fullest potential. Ever since then he has attempted to use and master his abilities to their fullest potential.
As a result his grades dropped because his goals and focuses changed. Prompting his parents to question what has been happening to their son. With no one to tell of his new found powers Corvin longs to interact with others like himself.
Personality: He thrives on his powers and loves to use them. If an opportunity presents itself in which he can use them, he'll jump at the first chance to do so. Previous to enrolling at the school he'd feel lonely because he didn't know many supers.
Name: Bliss Rodes
Bliss stands at an average 5'5" with blonde hair and pale grey/blue eyes. She has fair skin with no piercings or tattoos. She isn't thin but she isn't big. Her build is muscular and fit having been in many sports most of her life. Her wings are what you'd expect angel wings are like, their color being white. When open, their span is about ten feet.
Power: Wings and sonic scream.
Bio: Bliss was born in a small town, to an Army sergeant and her mother an MMA instructor. She had an older sister but before the age of one her parents split up and the father left with her older sister and the mom took Bliss. They rarely spoke about them so she went on not knowing much about them. Even though Bliss had wings, she carried on living a normal life, hiding them every morning with the help of her mom. Her mother would wrap them up and she'd always keep a coat on her at all times. She would go to school, stay in the back of her classes and come home, going unnoticed for many years. Since her mother was an MMA instructor, she would take out her frustration with that. Sparring with her mother and other students that showed up. It's the only place she could feel at home or safe because everyone there knew her and didn't mind her abnormality. It wasn't until recently that she found out that there was more to her power than she thought. While walking home from getting a bite to eat with some guys she sparred with, she said her goodbyes and went on her own way home. It was dark and she decided to take a short cut through an alley to get home when she was blocked off by two men. Trying to fight them off, one of the men broke her arm and she let out a scream. Not a normal scream. The windows around them shattered and the men dropped to the ground, unconscious and blood running out of their ears. Frightened, she ran home and told her mom. Bliss' mother fixed her arm up and registered at the academy, knowing that without proper training, Bliss could be a threat to society.
Personality: She tends to stay in the back of her class. She usually only speaks when others speak to her first and tries to be as nice as possible. She might be reserved but she's far from shy. She speaks her mind and has a temper on her. When things get rough, she tends to get aggressive rather quickly, "shooting first and asking questions later" as the saying goes.
Name: Miguel Rodriguez
Appearance/Description: Miguel stands at 6'4". He is very muscular and athletic. Tattoos, both tribal and miscellaneous run down his arm and parts of his body. On his back, he has this tattoo.
Power: Acid Generation (spit, blood, and out of his hands. Has special glands kind of like Spider Man that let it shoot out of his hands) and X-ray vision. Acid takes some time to generate, and although he has a somewhat healthy supply of it, he can use a lot without thinking about it. Sometimes he can't control when it comes out, and so he ruins things somewhat easily. The X-ray vision can go through almost all materials except very thick surfaces.
Bio: Miguel was always close with Diego. As kids, they hung out almost every day, laughing, playing, you name it. Even though Diego was five years older than he was, Diego always was able to make time to spend time with his favorite cousin. Despite the age difference, however, the two grew very close. When he was thirteen, however, Miguel learned that his favorite cousin had been taken away by strange people, just because he had weird things happen to him. From then on, Miguel was thrown into a state of depression. When he had turned fourteen, he had gotten into a fight with a boy, and had burned his face badly with acid. From then on, he knew he was different. But he wasn't taken away like his cousin was, but that was because the House had already been destroyed. When the coup started, Miguel watched intently at all the news coverage, and was excited to see his cousin Diego still alive and doing well. Four years had gone by after and he had learned that he had a second power. He could see through walls, floors, and yes, girl's clothes. Although he was proud of his new powers, he couldn't tell Diego. He barely heard anything from his cousin, and he was again heartbroken. That was until he got an invitation to the school from Diego himself. He was excited beyond measure. He could now better his powers, and spend time with Diego.
Personality: Miguel is a usually well rounded person. He is very friendly, and doesn't really talk bad about anyone just to talk bad about them. He does not, however, tolerate stupidity. He is stubborn on topics he believes is right, which he usually thinks he is most of the time. He likes to party, a lot, but is studious at the same time. Around Diego, Miguel is the most cheerful person you'll ever meet.
(If I change anything, Ill say so here)
Name: Zus Grechko
Age: 18 (Technically 90)
Power: Time travel(Extremely limited, he can only use it once every 15 years), Electrokinesis
Bio: Zus was a part of the Bielski partisans during the occupation of Russia by the Germans in WW2. He was close friends with Aseal Bielski and was Jewish himself. He had joined the partisans at an early stage and was only 16 by the time he joined. He helped build a lot of the makeshift housing and went on a lot of raids with the Bielski brothers. By the time he was 18 he had grown to a higher position within the partisans and had his own 'forest wife'. That is around the time the Germans had found out about their camp. He was chased out of the camp and had been shot in his arm and leg by the time he had escaped. He then discovered his gift. He had caught the Germans offgaurd by zapping them with lightning from his hand. He expected that god had intervened until he done it a second time, and a third. Just as he was about to bleed out he seemed to warp to a much different place. He was treated with technology he had never seen in a building he did not know of. It turns out he had warped to a boarding school who taught people with powers such as his to fit in with normal society. He joined of course.
Other: keep in mind most of my knowledge of the Bielski partisans is based from the film 'Defiance'.
Butch 'Boom' Breakson
18 years of age.
Butch is an average male, around 6 feet 2, with black hair and a small amount of stubble. His eyes are usually narrowed into a glare, or half-lidded into an emotionless stare, with a naturally frowning mouth and an average skin color, if not a bit grayish. His usual attire is a hoodie of some sort, with the hood usually up, and regular jeans and sneakers. Tattoos of 'Tits' and 'Ass' covers his arm in messy scrawl, probably inked by him, and he has the appearance of a hoodlum or, at least someone who 'doesn't give a shit.'
Combustion Inducement, or the ability to, as Butch eloquently put it, 'Blow shit Up'. Yes, I could go all scientific and shit to tell you every single detail, but I'll attempt to keep this short. Butch has the ability to, once any part of his body touches something, blow stuff up. His skin cells reacts to the matter in an object , causing it to combust on itself, creating a great explosion depending on the size of the object. This means that, if he picks up a pencil, he could, for a split second, 'fuse' his power with the object. Depending on the 'fuse', the object could blow up in a few seconds or a few minutes, depending on the time he thought of. So, he picks up the pencil and throws it at something. The pencil, after touching the object, blows up as if it's a grenade, exploding in a mass of splinters, dust, and friction. He has enough control to make it so that EVERYTHING he touches don't blow up, but sometimes accidents occur and he has to pay for the damage. Recently he's tried to...blow up living things such as kittens and bunnies ((Boredom)), but it only causes them to blast backwards as if slapped by a cannon ball. Fucking shit.
Oh, yeah, and once he stomped the ground out of anger and was blasted upwards 15 feet. He suffered from a sprained ankle after that, but after thinking on it Butch has named that ability...'Rocket Feet'. Unoriginal, he knows.
Butch is usually a very...sarcastic man with a dull and 'droll' voice that has become a main piece of his character. Usually he could be seen getting his ass beat because of his sarcasm and love for insults. His insults are usually very...creative and mind-boggling, often times not even making sense, though he doesn't really give a shit. He's not afraid of showing his point of view, and hates being told what to do or how to do it. Often times being punished for his use of profanity, and because of his die-hard way of insulting anyone he doesn't like without stop. Some people are annoyed by his 'emotionless and mocking' personality, but yet, once again, he doesn't really give a shit. Though some could say that he has a 'soft side' for women, they would automatically change their opinion once they get a real taste of his personality. Brutal, apathetic, and seemingly immune to the pain of words or the pain of physical violence, Butch is someone who you would want to avoid. Rather notorious for his forms of greetings: "Hey, faggot." and "Yo, boner killer!", he's not much for romantic relationships or really friendships in general.
Plus...with his random anger outbursts combined with his...explosive powers? Yes, be wary.
