The Couslands were very honorable people. They were the first ones to draw arms in times of danger; they would do anything for the crown and the well being of the people of Ferelden. Bryce Cousland was actually preparing to march to the South, along with Ambra Cousland's elder brother, Fergus Cousland.
Why could she not go? Why must she stay here? Her brother had a wife, a son. He was the one who should stay! Ambra would surely pluck down darkspawn as if they were apples on a tree with a well placed, ebony tipped arrow.
She was in the main hall, glowering at a stain on the very expensive rug. "Now, pup," her father began, motioning to an elder man. The man had a long face and bushy gray eyebrows, and his expression was solemn. "You remember Arl Howe?"
"Yes. I do." Ambra told her father.
"It seems like yesterday since she was nursing." Arl Howe said with a crooked smile. "How time flies, eh?"
"I still don't believe that I should stay." Ambra snapped at her father. His happy smile fell, and his black eyebrows furrowed deeply.
"Our discussion has ended." her father bit back. "Now, I would like to introduce you to someone. A Grey Warden has paid us a visit."
Ambra and Arl Howe's faces became surprised, Howe more so. "Warden?" Howe questioned. "What is he doing here?"
Teryn Cousland shrugged. "I do not know. All I do know is to respect him and do not complain." Bryce glared at his daughter as he said this.
Oh, Ambra was a beauty, yes. Ambra's eyes were like the ocean, and her hair was like fire... The long strands that weren't in her bun fell down into we face, which was white, like snow. She would have been perfect, if it were not for her disdain of her suitors, or her angry personality.
Bryce Cousland, however, looked much different than his daughter. His hair was deep black, and his eyes were usually calm and mellow unless provoked. He wanted her to be with child soon- she had to give her end of the bargain. She knew that she had to give him a child so the Cousland line can keep on. Fergus's son was not enough.
"What are Grey Wardens, exactly?" Ambra asked.
"I do not know. You can ask him when he comes."
