TOMBSTONE, A Few minutes before arrival. The air was arid and dry, the sun stood high up on the sky, blazing the sand and gravel to blistering temperatures. The open sky had not a cloud on it, the sun left to grace the world uninhibited by cloudy skies. Tumbleweeds looked as if they were extra dried out, threatening to spontaneously catch fire out of sheer heat. Needless to say, there wasn't to many folks wandering the streets, most sat in the shade. It was as if the town had been paralyzed, even the dust didn’t feel like whirling across the streets. It could be described as eerie, as unhealthy. The air was stale, the infirmarys smoldering remains still remained somewhere within this small but historically famous town. A place known for death, a place called Tombstone. There was a crack withing the embers, something stirred. Tombstone slumbered restlessly in the sweltering heat, knowing something that must never wake, just did. The skittering of a million little legs on the edge of this universe awareness, a calling from a place that should not be. The inhabitents could feel, that uneasy feeling of impending doom. But they went on with their lives, it wasn't called Tombstone for nothing.
The car hit rocks and uneven terrain as the poorly maintained road carries the convoy of three unmarked, black cars that drove across the dessert. Within the front Car sat a very stern looking man, or perhaps he simply looked pissed off. You would have to ask him in regards to his state, but the answer might not be what you want to hear. He had a cigarette pinned between his thin lips, brown eyes scanned papers held by scarred hands. He would grumble something every now and then, commiting details to memory if he could. Jonathans suit fit him like a glove and made him look like a well off business man, you would not expect this man to be a operative of a secret organization tasked with hunting the unnatural.
“Sounds Demonic..” He spoke to the others in the car“ I mean, Red skin, tattoes, strange potrusions around his collarbone... And fire? Rules out most Reanimated things doesn't it. They hate fire.” The mans voice was hoarse, strained. Throat problems were not exactly uncommon in his family and the cigarettes probably didn't help. “Victims include Tombstone Mayor Jimmy Vasque age 55, already being treated for a broken ankle at the time of death. Melinda Heyes and Tobias Lund were working and got cought in the fire. Nurse and Doctor respectively.” He peered over the paper and looked at the others inside the car. “I am going out on a limb here. But the Mayor was most likely the target, no? A demon summoning maybe? Disgruntled citizen with a interest for the occult? Would not be the first time.” Johnathan muttered as he put the files down next to him. Instead he fished one of his two knifes out of its sheath and eyed it much like a artisan would look his tools over.
“...I don't remember it having this notch... Must have been when I lodged it into that voodoo mask back on Haiti” He mumbled to himself. Not the one to usually make small talk back at base, Jonathan did however try to make conversation before a mission. Just so he could get a feel of the teams synergy. As their medic, he rather not have to drag someone across a open street becouse he refused to listen to a comrades warning out of spite. God knows that some agents had died under incredibly stupid circumstances before. Not on his watch at the very least.
Just then, the car pulled into the town square, stopping abruptly. “I guess this is the place” He jumped of the back of the truck and hoisted out two large duffel bags with equipment off the truck.
The City of Tombstone is a small town, but it has hardy and have survived god knows what over the years. Its blood soaked history makes it a place with potential for haunting and vengefull Reanimated of all kinds. The city itself gives off a unsettling sense of calm, it's almost unatural. The mission is is to understand and stop whatever is happening here. The Handler will have the files on anything you might find important, so speak to him or her. Dapper has hired a old hotel for the group to station within and work from.
