OUT OF CHARACTER
Darkness crept across the small town of Edenmoor, rain began to pour and birds were flying in masses overhead out of the town. Lightning flashed in the sky, and thunder boomed. People were running about the town doing their everyday business, buying groceries, filling up gas in their vehicles, and commuting to & from work. The radio tower broadcasting across the entire town, and it's red light glowing in the eerie darkness, and fog. People assumed it was just your normal, everyday thunderstorm. Nobody was panicked. But, little did they know that something horrible was going to happen, and they'd be fighting for their lives to survive.
Event Horizon is a horror roleplay experience taking place in a modern-day fictional town called Edenmoor. One day the town is blanketed by darkness, and the community assumes it's just another everyday thunderstorm so they think nothing of it. An hour goes by and that's when these "pods" start falling from the sky, and landing in yards, pools, and crashing into buildings and in general they deal some serious damage when they fall, and even kill a few people on impact. The pods are organic, about the size of footballs, and the citizens have no idea what they are, and most of the theories are pieces of space debris that has entered the Earth's atmosphere. However, the pods start releasing a type of gas, and many of the residents inhale the gas, and soon end up dying and re-animating in odd, mutated, alien creatures. It infects numerous humans, and these mutated human beings begin attacking, and killing the normal humans in the town, with only a few pocket of humans remaining. The humans we will be roleplaying as.
Each one of us will play a resident in the town, who will all meet up at a location that is soon to be announced. So, we will all start up separated and each experience the events of the "pods" in our own time, and will happen within an hour of the sky going dark. Our goal will be to survive the events transpiring in the town, or die. Now, these are mutants; not zombies. Meaning they will go down like any normal human being would. You don't need to destroy the brain, or remove the head. Simply shooting them in vital areas, or harming them in any way can deal some damage and/or kill them. However, we won't be dealing with just standard "infected" human beings; the mutations will advance, and we'll encounter different types of sub-species of mutant per-say, but I'd like to surprise the roleplayers with those (they're already in my head too, whee).
Weapons will also be present, but nobody is going to be running about with a massive array of fire-arms. Let's keep it simple, and survival is key here. Depending on the character you play as (let's not have everyone be police officers, and no military characters allowed) will determine the weapons you're most likely to be using, correct? I want fire-arms to be a type of "restricted" weapon, so not everyone will be running about with a gun. Most of our weapons will be melee objects based on stuff you'd find in your home. Not everyone has a Shotgun, or machete hanging on their walls.
So, I'll make an example character sheet, and then we get on going and see if there's interest. Also, to make it more exciting and fun. Your characters can be killed off, and if they do die you'll be free to create another character to get in on the action, and said new character can be integrated into the current plot, or how the story is progressing. One character at a time please, but feel free to roleplay as NPC's in your origin posts, which will be everything up until after the pods land, and start exploding into the gas that infects people.
Character Sheet Example/IdeaName: Clarke Bennet
Occupation: Grocery Clerk
Bio: Clarke Bennet is the guy who tries to make people laugh, and to lighten up tense and or depressing situations. He works at the local grocery stores "Pete's Produce" and is in charge of stacking shelves with various boxed, and canned goods. He started working at the store when he was 16 and had enjoyed the job ever since, and most people in the community knew him, and would wave at him during their shopping. He was driving home from work when the pods started falling...
Appearance: Clarke has short brown hair, swooped to the right side of his face. He has extremely brown eyes, and he has a chinstrap beard on his face. He stands roughly 6'1, and weighs about 200lbs. His nose is a little crooked from being broken when he was a young child. He's wearing a red plaid shirt, black jeans, and checkerboard slip-on shoes. The first thing he did when the pods began falling was slip into something more comfortable than his work uniform.
Weapon: Tire Iron (From the trunk of his car)
Let's see if we get some interest.
