It was a warm, noon day at the somewhat abandoned airstrip, occupied by only two people and their stuff that they call home and their pride. Both ex-military pilots of the war-starved world, they turn to being hired as mercenaries to keep up with equipping and fueling their mechas as well as their lives. The Dubois pairs, Aquilino and Letizia has stuck together like glue since their faithful meeting in the last war that has escaladed. Aquilino sat in front of a desk shaded by an umbrella, typing away on a computer powered by their air carrier. A man in his mid thirties, his brown, unkempt hair swayed in the occasional breeze as the light emitting from the computer flashed in front of his chiseled face as his emerald green eyes stared back blankly at the screen. He was tall, almost six foot two, and well built for his size. "Aqui..." A voice called out to him. That of a woman, he turns his head behind him, seeing Letizia standing a short distance behind him with a phone in her hands. "We got a call, a new number, you should check it out. I'll help fix the scramjet while you're on the phone." She continued with a smile and handed the phone over. She was a couple of years younger than him and shorter, but the pale complexion of her skin contradicted her long black hair, and to add to it, her pale red eyes. She was also a fierce one, Aquilino felt he has made his match. As she entered the carrier, he held the phone to his ears. "Hello, Aquilino Dubois here." He answered. "Hi, my name is Misato Katsuragi." The other voice was a woman's, but a very cheerful one, somewhat lacking in a professional tone much to his surprise. "Uh, hello...Anything I can help you with?" The talk went on for a bit, finishing with Aquilino hanging up. "Hey Letz, a job came up, let's get packed up. Going to head over to Tokyo-3. Go ahead and take the wheel, I'll finish the scramjet." He called out as he stood up, stretching for a bit with a smirk on his face. Putting on a brown coat that was hanging on the chair, he cleaned up his desk and helped transfer everything into the carrier before they were off using the strip.
Hours passed by, as they have entered the entrance to the Nerv command center in Tokyo-3 with an escort. They were eventually escorted to, in this underground base, to an office room where a an awaited them. Aquilino looked up to see the Tree of Life etched on the ceiling. "So, you must be Mr. Ikari huh? Heard a lot about you from Ms. Katsuragi." Aquilino said, taking a seat on the side along with Letizia, who punched him on the shoulder to hint something that was not needed to be said. The man, Gendo Ikari stared at them with a stoic gaze that can bring unease. "Then I'm sure you are aware of your job correct?" Gendo asked. Straight to business, Aquilino thought, but given to what Misato said, he couldn't really take it seriously. "Well, Katsuragi mentioned about it, that we would need to assist your pilots to defend against a threat on this city, a threat you call, Angels?" Aquilino recited. "But how big of a threat can these be?" He had to ask. "The Angels seeks to destroy humankind. That is why Nerv has been created, to defend humankind from these Angels. One is heading here at this very moment and we just took a bit of damage from the last attack. That is why your service is required." Gendo said. The unease has now hit Aquilino, hearing that Gendo said that with a straight face. Letizia stood up. "Don't worry, we will do our job. Just provide an airstrip for us to use to be able to launch our crafts. I assure you our quality work." She said with a feigning smileas she pulled Aquilino up and pushed him out of the office. "I really don't understand him...What he said, I can't believe it." Aquilino commented as they prepare to head outside of the base to head back to their carrier.
