In the ancient land of Iroam, there were four kingdoms entailed in a prophecy. The military kingdom of Fareed, known for their swordsmen and berserker axemen, who have a king as a puppet figurehead, with General Firth in real power. The frosty wasteland somehow still a kingdom known as Rikos, home to some of the greatest brawlers and thieves there are, ruled by the Council of Vizion. The studious empire of Markon, full of mages both black and white, ruled by Emperor Darian V. The isolated island of Tynon, made up of elite engineers and gunmen, ruled only by the wind.
The prophecy states that outcasts of each kingdom, a white mage and gunman from Fareed, a swordsman and engineer residing in Rikos, an axeman and thief who call Markon home, a brawler and black mage who live in Tynon, would be heroes and save Iroam from it's demise.
The prophecy said each hero will be enbued with the refinment of a gem, which would sharpen as the heroes grew. The swordsman with the incredible sharpened senses of a topaz, the axeman with the strength of a diamond, the brawler with the speed of an emerald, the thief with the subtlety of an amethyst, the black mage with the mental strength of obsidian, the white mage with the focused mind of a lapis lazuli, the engineer with the intelligence of an opal, the gunman with the resourcefulness of a sapphire.
Over time, the prophecy faded to myth, and eventually, faded away, known only to some white mages studying the myth. But foreign powers are arriving, a distant power hungry empire is greedy for land, and the thief, been told by their mother when they were young, the thief's mother being a white mage of Markon, the thief sends out a call, a scroll sent to those most likely to be candidates to respond to the dark invasion....

A warrior who uses swords, be it a sword and shield, two swords or a greatsword. Often a mixture of strength and speed, these warriors are the best overall fighters.
A more brutal breed of warriors, more reliant on strength and endurance than speed or technique. These warriors focus on crushing their opponent swiftly and effectively.
A fast moving class of warriors, they use often magically empowered gauntlets and fight with their hands. They rely on endurance and speed, wearing down the opponent. They are agile, strong, and can survive harsh conditions.
This class relies on subtlety and speed, not being found. They will avoid direct combat, often taking their target by surprise and assassinating them, but when in direct contact they will often use a 'hit and run' maneuver. They are the most likely to survive combat
Followers of the darker side of magic using 'The Rift', an unexplainable alternate dimension, these mages are often limited to one of three skills: summoning, casting and empowering. Summoning is using life from the ambient environment to summon a lesser creature from The Rift. They are as large as a human at best, and only a limited amount can be summoned at any one point. Casting is deriving energy from The Rift and transferring it into a blast, beam, or other form of manifestation. Empowering is to put the energy of The Rift into something or someone, causing spontaneous events to occur. For example, putting The Rift into an ant may cause it to grow larger, or run faster, it may make an inanimate object animate. The Rift can easily overpower the user and kill them, so few people practice this magic. Both white and black magic are difficult to learn and take time to activate, and can take a mind of it's own.
The flipside of Black Mages, White Mages use energy from the world they live in to cast magic. Much like Black Magic, White Magic is divided into summoning, casting and empowerment. Summoning uses the user's own life force to call a creature currently living in their world to the user's side, which can take time. Casting uses ambient energy, which may kill nearby plant life and cause chilly winds, to cast the energy in a blast, beam, etc. Empowerment transfers energy from one thing to another, but often does not have the desired effect. For example, a chair could be empowered with water and it could evaporate with heat. Or it could liquidate itself. Both white and black magic are difficult to learn and take time to activate, and the magic can take a mind of it's own.
Engineers are the revolutionists of the world of Iroam, learning physics and creating machines, from weapons to flight machines. They are often not though of as fighters, but they often fight, building traps for the opponent.
A class with a reputation to be traitorous mercenaries, these fighters often sell their services, and use pistols, a new but already widespread weapon of choice. They are light ranged weapons which don't always quite work, but can kill the opponent by the time they're at an arms length, or, more importantly, a sword's length.
