Special Operations Group, Detachment Alpha
Dallas/Fort Worth Interplanetary Starport, Earth (Sol system)
Colonel Samuel "Kingpin" Lorenzo, commanding officer of the Ghosts of Orion, wasn't the least bit surprised when word reached him that a coordinated terrorist attack had left Earth's embassy in the Tau Ceti system in ruins. After all, he had been keeping close tabs on the more fanatical elements of the Separatists for some time now, and knew that a splinter group would eventually take action against the Earth Government. But what he hadn't known was who would claim responsibility for the attack, when it would take place, and what the intended target was. If the Earth Security Council hadn't ordered him to adopt a wait and see policy though, and allowed the deployment of his Ghosts, the Colonel felt confident that he could have found the right answers. That he could have stopped the attack wholesale. That he could have stopped the deaths of so many.
But that was in the past, and the Colonel didn't have the luxury of dwelling on what could've been. Instead, Lorenzo dedicated himself to stopping the next attack, and began to analyze the data he had. For starters, he now was aware that the newly formed Colonial Liberation Front was taking credit for the attack, but how did the attack happen in the first place? How did the Colonials acquire the bomb they used to level the embassy? How did they get pass the security detail posted at the embassy? Who specifically had been involved in the attack? To find answer these questions and to further investigate the incident, Lorenzo had reservations about using the local cops or military police and instead opted to use the one organization he could trust. His own.
Pulling up the assorted dossiers of his field operatives, Lorenzo began to assemble a team of four to start the investigation, designating the detachment of Ghosts Alpha team. His first pick and the team leader he had in mind was Byron Lansbury, callsign Odin, given the nature of future missions he had in mind for the team and Bryon's background in law enforcement. Next, Leon Grey, callsign Eyes. Lorenazo assigned Leon to the team after deciding he wanted someone who might be able to pick the minds of those responsible, someone who understood the Colonials in a way Odin might not be able to. And after Leon, Lorenzo felt a demolitions expert might be an essential addition to the team for obvious reasons, and picked Christopher Galloway, callsign Holdfast, as the third member of Alpha. Lorenzo also decided to tag Arianna Marie Rodriquez, callsign Flame, along as the last member of the team, having a hunch that the Colonials might have left a breadcrumb trail on a computer for Arianna to follow.
Finally, once the business of assembling Alpha team was over with, Lorenzo began to make the final arrangements for their operation, including scheduling a private shuttle at the Dallas/Fort Worth Interplanetary Starport to take them from Earth straight to Usessev. It would be from there that they could begin, and carry out, the operation at their own discretion.
