The sun was just setting and still Aleris had not stirred from within the Kilika Temple. It had been three whole days and many were beginning to become skeptical that she would emerge at all. It was ritual, after all, and only those deemed worthy were blessed. For many it was a dream that would never be realized, but for Aleris it was fate. Few chose the summoner path, and let alone from such a young age. Lives were often short in these difficult times so few wanted to associate themselves with the kind of sacrifices the summoners of old had to endure.
"Fayth, bless me." Aleris could not recall how long she had been praying for a blessing, but her knees began to feel numb from all the pressure they had endured while remaining in the same stance. She knew it would be futile to give up now, the people of Spira needed her. The thought of her not being deemed worthy began to make her feel uneasy, but she continued praying regardless.
"Free us..." Time was again all a blur, but a voice had jolted Aleris back to alertness. Was somebody really speaking to her or was it all in her imagination? Even fantasy and reality had become indistinguishable as she waited for a sign, but she knew she had been blessed as she felt a surge of warmth run through her body, almost like a burning flame. Ifrit. Him and his Fayth had made an appearance. This would allow her to make pilgrimage to all the other temples throughout Spira and then ultimately to Zanarkand. It was a place of myth that almost nobody set foot in now aside from Summoners and their guardians. A sacred place and location of the Final Aeon, every summoner's goal.
Aleris' departure from the Kilika temple was met with mixed reception. She was certainly flattered that some had gathered out there awaiting her emergence, but others were less than impressed, shouting that nobody else should have to sacrifice themselves for Sin. It was a sad reality that Aleris had confronted long ago, however. "Everybody, clear out. This could be messy." She commented, swinging her rod through the air. Within seconds the ground was breaking apart and a fiery wolf-like beast emerged. She already knew that the power he wielded was formidable as all the crowd could do is stare in awe. "Yes, I am a Summoner now." She announced, dismissing the beast. She knew the next step was just preparing for pilgrimage, which would require the task of finding suitable guardians. She had very few close friends or even family these days so she dreaded the task.
