Since there will be several sub-groups with numerous sub-plots, we'll want to avoid the IC getting too clustered. We will do it like so: Everyone will collapse their posts via the "Hider=xy" feature. You can give the hiders name that fit your current subplot if you like, for example "Hider=Challenging Gym Leader xy" or "Visiting Town yz". Giving names is optional, but please do collapse your conversations like that, so that we don't have to scroll through heaps of texts looking for our partners :3
I assume you are aware of the "Go advanced" feature when posting, and the fact that you can put a title for each new post. Well, I've thought of a handy idea: Whenever you post in the IC, the title will be your pokebelt; put the up to 6 pokemon you're currently carrying with you into that pokebelt so that everyone can see which pokemon you're carrying and that you don't forget yourself. Of course, lore wise, when you meet another trainer, he or she won't know which pokemon are in your pokeballs.
Battles that are not between players but between your character and "NPCs" can be acted out the way you want them to. For battles between players, the following rules apply unless specifically lifted by my for specific reasons.
1. As far as dodging is concerned, there will be no more than 5 "but xy dodged in the last second" or similar dodges per battle. Every attack that doesn't hit the opponent is considered a dodge, unless the attacking player states himself that the attack would or did miss because of xy. Use your dodges wisely. If a really nicely written attack comes in, let it hit. Your Pokemon won't be defeated by a few hits, make battles bristling and entertaining, with your pokemon actually taking damage.
2. The level points system I received a mail about from Blizatrix is approved. Each time a pokemon defeats another pokemon, it will gain 4 level points. Each pokemon that participated, whether it fainted or was just briefly participating, will gain 1 level points (so even a loss or short participation will lead to getting stronger, though much slower). After a certain amount of level points are collected, the pokemon will gain the possibility of leveling up. I still recommend waiting with leveling up for the right Drama occasion. I will PM you once you CAN level up, but keep in mind, you might want to keep that possibility and wait for a dire situation in battle, only to pull of the "xy evolved!" and make an epic comeback :3
Currently in charge of the Points Bank: Aphe the Lion
3. I will watch every battle. If a PvP battle is about to take place, PM me so I can monitor it. Unless a consensus in the OOC is reached (which I'd prefer), I WILL interfere once a battle has dragged on for an appropriate time and I will announce the winner by PMing the opponents. To decide the winner, I will both take the points bank into account as well as my personal judgement based on watching the RP and progress and the characters and their pokemon develop. I know this system is biased, but such is the burden and privilege of the GM.
Apart from that: Consider the pokemon types to a large extend. After all, it is a game of strategy, so a water pokemon will have an advantage to a fire pokemon, fire beats grass... etc. Incoming attacks of a stronger element will hurt your pokemon more.
Since there will be at least pairs, if not teams of three, 2on2 fights will be a possibility. I will update on this once I'm sure how the battle system works.
Since there is most likely no such thing as levels in our RP, I leave evolving your pokemon up to your own common sense. Don't rush evolutions, otherwise I as GM will step in. Best case scenario would be to use the Drama-inspired evolutions from the Anime, where pokemon evolve in dire/difficult battle situations.
If you haven't evolved a pokemon after a time and number of battle I feel justified to evolve it, I may send you a message that this pokemon is ready for evolution. You can then evolve it at any point in time you like.
Before you start your adventure, Professor Oak (I) will put you into pairs of a boy and a girl or groups of three (if the we get enough people) to travel together, help each other out and grow stronger with each other. Of course, since you are free human beings, you may leave your partner(s) if you have good reasons to or join up in different pairs (I'll try to match fitting people together, or people who are different enough to spark healthy rival feelings). The idea is that the first half of the story will be lots of 1x1 respectively 1x1x1 RPs, where your characters catch pokemon together, grow closer and stronger as you collect your badges and move towards battling in the region wide tournament for the title of Pokemon master. If you wish you can form the pairs or groups yourselves ahead of the story. In time, the different pairs and groups should meet and form relationships with each other, be it feelings of friendship and mutual respect or the spark of intense rivalry and antagonism.
I will as a GM set up an overarching plotline involving Team Rocket, the creation of Mewtwo and the appearance of the unown. It will be a mix of the first few pokemon movies, bits and pieces from the anime and the plot from the games. Your characters will notice the things happening around them, and I will increasingly drive you to participate. Canon characters such as "Team Rocket" (Jessie, James), Giovanni, Ash, Gary, Misty etc will be within our universe and may or may not be encountered, but they play less of a role for the overarching plot, as it is my own creation and doesn't fit in the canon. Look forward to it...
We will stray very quickly from the strict path found in the games, and you're free to travel wherever you want, whenever you want. You may immediately go to Johto, or travel in Kanto. You can start catching as many pokemon as possible, train your current pokemon or do whatever else you want. Be creative and discuss with your partner (either in the OOC in directly via dialogue in the IC). Implement as much stuff from the Anime/the game as you want. You may meet canon characters as long as you don't kill them off or take their place or something else that would drastically change the canon plot.
Oh and please, no god moding. Keep it real, go with the flow and go at it slowly. No need to rush to be champ or to catch every pokemon. Epecially in the beginning catching new pokemon is a big deal, and at least your first 6 pokemon should hold some value.
There are Legendary Pokemon in this world. They roam the wilds and are free spirits. Yet tales tell of lucky trainers encountering them and being able to bond with them. While they cannot be caught in the traditional sense, the legendary Pokemon have sentience of their own and it is said they sometimes accompany people they befriend...
Basically, you can aim for legendaries and if you're lucky/if I'm kind you'll get to encounter it. For example, I already know which Legendary I'll be aiming for
Some of the legendaries will be encountered within the overarching plot. That's your best shot. Don't force it though, try to earn their respect
