This roleplay is always OPEN!
Welcome to the OOC of Impostor Syndrome, a Harry Potter Original Roleplay set in an alternate history of the HP world where the Dark Lord Grindelwald recently won the war and set himself as the God-King of the world. It is in December of 1945, and you are about to start a long, dark and dangerous journey for both survival and a hope to thrive in an hostile world. I will start by telling you about the premise, which is as such:
December 15th, 1945
The Dark Lord Grindelwald conquered the world and, with it, was able to crown himself God-King of the world, decimating muggles left and right and gathering muggleborn and halfbloods with his armies as spoil of war to bring new blood into the most stagnant magical bloodlines. The kidnapped and now orphaned children were then adopted by sterile or cursed couples as heirs to their bloodlines, a dark ritual involving blood and seed making them children of the new House in both blood and magic. Muggleborns and halfbloods were still very much frowned upon, however, and thus a deadly game of deceits and lies unfolded, with those that were weak, stupid or unsightly being exterminated by the deadly dance of pureblood politics.
You were one of such unclean blood, and will now have to tread lightly, for a sole misstep would mean your death. You will be taught how to act, what to say and learn both etiquette and magic in equal amounts mingled with pureblood customs and history. All of it will start with a trusted, private tutor and, who knows... you may even get talented enough to join a magical school or even Hogwarts itself?
Thus it start, you are a Muggleborn or Halfblood, previously unaware of magic, who just had been inducted into a magical bloodline, and is about to start their wizarding education. You will learn etiquette and customs of the purebloods, history of your new world, various branches of magic and even calligraphy and ballroom dancing as time progress and you take your place, whatever may it be, in the wizarding world.
We are in Great Britain, and you will start with private tutor, with the hope of maybe one day entering a wizarding school, from the modest Scarecrow Academy for Elites (S.A.f.E.) to Hogwarts herself. The path to excellence will be dark and treacherous. Can you surpass your lowly beginnings?
Now, I will then continue on to the gameplay of this roleplay, starting with the fact that I will be the Narrator and therefore your guide in this grand journey, with your character as a star of either a grand adventure or a tragedy depending on their abilities and choices.
The most important boon for your character to have will be Insight, a matter of both survival and thriving that will be gained in various ways, from uncovering a mystery or performing impressively in a task to merely writing in your Grimoire, which will be further explained after this segment. Insight is good for various things, mainly the creation of beneficial Traits, the making of various feats and even a chance to start a task all over again. Each of these feats will cost an arbitrary number of Insight, the amount I will tell you on a case to case basis once asked.
This bring us to your most prized possession: your Grimoire. Serving as both a diary, an inventory and a ledger book of all your knowledge, your Grimoire will be accessible to you every time you go to your room, from when you will live with the rats in a small chamber in the dungeons to the day you may live in a luxurious suite in the family wing. The inventory and ledger book parts of this tool are self explanatory, so I will delve right into the Diary part.
The Diary is used once a game day, when your character, in IC form, will relate their thoughts and discoveries in written form should they wish it to, in exchange for a change to gain Insight and related hints and information on the subjects touched in that session. This is not mandatory, but it is a solid advantage to those who bother to develop they character and try to find mysteries and knowledge!
Finally are the Traits. For a certain amount of Insight differing by the strength of each trait, your character will be able to develop a beneficial ability, habit or even physical or magical trait that will be accessible to them following the next in game day. The creation of a Trait will always be overnight, and the trait in question will have to be designed by you.
The Character Skeleton is as such, while the Grimoire will be outlined and designed for each character as we go along.
