In the land of Koristea,
the year 1803, in 7th year of the reign of the Emperor,
great men wanted a greater place for their legacy.
When barely the peasants even knew how to spell their name,
the fruit of their masters' loins deserved a school.
Nay, an academy. A grand institution of learning,
building upon their highborn status.
The House of Rikasa,
the great Duke Winfred the Worthy,
would found The Grand Academy of Tcresse.
Within a month, the very best of the empire,
would send their progeny to the academy.
For 20 years, the academy stood.
Little changed, and everything that changed,
changed for the better.
But all nobles have secrets.
Within the Grand Academy,
a club was founded.
'The Club for Grand Gentlemen.'
Outwardly, it was the exclusive club of social leisure.
Joining required an invitation,
and it seemed that breeding was no guarantee of entry.
Nor anything else anyone could fathom.
There was a secret to it.
Everyone, almost everyone, within the club,
had a secret.
A deadly secret.
This is your time in the Grand Academy of Tcresse.
Or more accurately...
The Grand Academy of Secrets.
In the year 1823, the 27th year of the reign of the Emperor,
you are a student in the Grand Academy of Tcresse.
And you have a secret to hide.
Welcome to the Club.
1. Medieval technology, but clothing can be modern-esque. Gunpowder weapons are based on the 16th century arquebuses, and do not fire quickly or accurately enough, such that some even think gunpowder weapons are just a passing fad.
2. The Grand Academy of Tcresse itself has only started allowing female students 3 years ago. It was an entirely male cohort for 17 years, and still has a lot more male students than female students.
3. The Grand Academy itself is situated in the heart of the Empire of Koristea. Koristea itself is a large, hegemonic empire that accepts a lot of other cultures, so feel free to use slightly unique naming styles. Bonus points to anyone who uses patronymics or matronymics.
4. The school itself teaches combat, tactics, strategy, administration, literature, astronomy, history. Generally any sort of topic of study that can be seen as prestigious. Feel free to suggest anything.
5. Your character should have a secret. The sort of secret that could get them expelled, executed or exiled, but not an evil secret. Bastard sons are not that much of a secret, though they can be combined with other 'secrets' to make it even worse. Unless your secret is that you don't have one, and you're just trying to get into the Club.
6. We'll only be playing students. I'll have 1 or 2 students who are already in the Club and 1 or 2 students who are about to join the Club.
7. Some... interesting things may happen. It's not just school life.
8. The teacher to student ratio is REALLY low. Like 1 to 4. It's an elite school.
Picture: If a description, add it below the 'Secret' part.
Secret: (The secret they have. It should be one that if someone important and generally unfriendly to them would to know about it, it could lead to execution, exile or great disgrace.)
House: (The noble House they were born to, and any details about the house. Non-nobles find it very difficult to enter the Grand Academy of Tcresse.)
Age: (Include how many years they've been in the school. New members of the Club do not have to be first-years.) (Generally, the age of the students will be from 15 to 22, and the average student stays in the Academy for 5 to 6 years.)
Subjects: What do they study? Here are some suggestions:
Any sort of subjects that seems 'upper-class'.
Secret: Adell is supposedly, the son of Duke Winfred. However, she is actually his daughter, who pretends to be his son as she is the only child of the duke. In addition, she is most likely a bastard. Her blood is light-blue and highly acidic. (Which means either her mother had these traits, or she slept with someone else.) It is, to her dismay, considered a plaything or tool substitute by the rest of the Club as it can be safely stored in glass and diluted to serve different purposes (like removing paint or killing lice). While she is immune to her blood's effects, her clothing is not, nor anything she would consider useful. Lastly, she can bite through or eat iron, steel or any sort of composite metal comprising of 50% iron or more, but no other sort of metals. She still can be cut by those sort of metals, but her blood does make those weapons slightly more useless over time.
House: The House of Rikasa. 'Money is the root of all power.'
A great noble House that has always held influence in the empire, the heads of the House of Rikasa have usually served in the role as Chancellor (the highest position a non-royal noble can achieve in the empire) or as close friends and advisors to the Chancellor. Holding great swathes of plantations overseas in cotton and sugar (and the unfortunate implications that come with owning cotton plantations before the 20th century), the House of Rikasa still holds great power and influence, even as their power has begun to wane with the death of Duke Claire (Claire can be a man's name. He is the uncle of Adell.).
To try to resolve this, Duke Winfred, Adell's father, would invest a great sum of his money in the Grand Academy of Tcresse. Educating the future generations of Koristea's nobles could build influence untold.
Age: 19 (4 years in the academy)
Race: Half Human, Half-God-Knows-What
Subjects: History, Literature, Astronomy, Strategy, Administration, Foreign Languages
History: Born of Duke Winfred of the House of Rikasa and Countess Lydia of the House of Thaddeus, Countess Lydia would die in childbirth, ending the possibility of discovering if the countess herself was not human or been unfaithful, but the Duke had greater things to worry about his line such as to forgive her, as useless as his forgiveness would be to a dead woman.
The second head of the Club of Grand Gentlemen, she succeeded Niklas of the House of Randall as the head. Enrolling in the academy as the son of the Duke instead of his daughter, Adell found the pressure of keeping her secret nerve-wracking until she met Niklas, another noble with a deadly secret that he could not tell the world. Bonding over their own deadly differences from humanity (and initially thinking that she could use the Club to gather information to blackmail), they founded the Club for Grand Gentlemen 4 years ago as a way to relax in a friendly, non-judgemental environment. Two of the finest nobles in the same, exclusive club would draw a lot of attention, but no one would discover the secret of the Club. Niklas and Adell slowly added more members into the Club, every one of them with a deadly secret close to their heart they could share in the Club.
When Niklas graduated from the Academy last year, Adell was, without doubt, the next head of the Club of Grand Gentlemen.
Personality: To non-members of the Club, Adell is a charismatic fellow that would have been a student leader had she not been in the Club. However, to members of the Club, she seems to be world-weary, hard to please and easy to annoy. Her masculine looks annoy her a bit, but guesses that it helps with the deception. But despite all that, she's actually a somewhat good person who will always assist her friends. With her help and management, the Club has maintained an outward facade as a place of leisure.
Skills: Adell has some basic sword-play skills, but she hardly trains it as her acidic blood makes training impractical with the Club and too revealing if done with anyone else. Her mainstay talents are money-management, business tactics and strategy. While those skills can be applied to a limited extent in other fields, she is not as good as she wants to be in proper battle strategy and tactics.
Misc: Owns a sword, like most other nobles, but its collecting dust.
