Nate was wandering the streets, a small bag of coins attached to his waist jangling with every step he took. Despite the money on obvious display, he wasn't worried about anyone attempting to steal it from him. The sword handle and the thin sliver of blade that visible above the sheath on the opposite of side of his waist made it clear what would happen if anyone attempted to take anything from him.
He was heading away from the harbor, further inland, his large ship still visible on the horizon when he glanced backwards. They'd stopped for supplies, and then they had to leave again quickly, before anyone realized that their ship wasn't properly registered anywhere.
He turned a corner onto the main street, stopping next to the first stall he saw to ask about where to buy everything he needed. He had an easy smile on his lips as he spoke, his black hair scraped back off his face to reveal startlingly blue eyes. The woman he was talking to let out a high pitched giggle every now and then as he spoke, blushing a little.
He thanked her for her help, about to head off further down the street when he heard a loud thump in the narrow alleyway between the crooked, ramshackle houses. His natural curiosity got the better of him and he headed towards the alleyway, pausing in the mouth of it to take in the situation.
What he saw made him draw his sword straight away, and he shifted into a low crouch instinctively. There was a woman at the other end of the alleyway, held against the wall by three men, one of them holding a knife against her throat. He couldn't hear what they were saying, but it wasn't anything pleasant, judging by the leering expression on their faces.
