Welcome to the OOC of a New Frontier! The synopsis is that you are a new explorer, colonist, scientist, military grunt, what have you, on a daring mission to explore and found a stable outpost on the new planet Tezrick. Who you are, your race, your belongings, are all up to you. No preset limiting choices, although I do ask that everything is in reason. No all mighty god race that can create anything from nothing, or can kill player characters with a single thought or a single punch. There will be a character sheet to fill out though, although hopefully it's free form and should serve as a skeleton.
A letter from the Intergalactic Species Alignment: Colonist Cruiser Class 87 "New Haven"
Congratulations! You have chosen or have been chosen to embark with the Cruiser Class 87 "New Haven" on a journey to the new planet "Tezrick"! It is there, where you will help found a new facility, "Kanthor", dedicated to supplementing the needs of yourself and your fellow companions, in an effort to not only create a stable colony, but a profitable one as well. Tezrick, you will soon discover, is a land of plenty. It is a rather diverse planet, akin to the Human planet, Earth. The ground is very mineral rich in both metals and nutrients for stable plants to grow, and the indigenous wild life is another thing to be marveled and studied.
Some interesting facts you should note about Tezrick. It has two moons, a short rotation of only 12 hours, and a gigantic volcano that has yet to be named. Other marvels are also abound, but I am sure you will discover them in due time.
We should also mention that you are not the first group to be sent down here, nor will you be the last. Unfortunately, our previous groups have had less luck as it would seem. New outposts seem to disappear at nightfall, usually with a loss of radio contact before being discovered to be completely empty and ransacked. We suspect that either the wildlife is hostile or space pirates have already occupied the area. It is for this reason that you are being sent with an escort of troopers and will be given a weapon yourself if you have such a license. We do not wish to alarm you, but caution is advised.
Once you have situated yourself on our vessel, meet at the docking bay where we will send you on a New Frontier!
It will be up to the players to what the colony will strive for, whether it will be science or mining, military or farming. The outpost will have a stationed military, as the letter hinted at, not all is well as many previous attempts ended in ruin.
Rules and Character Sheet
You can have up to three characters, although you will be required to at least outpost three sentences for each of them and preferably all in the same post, although there will probably be times where not all of them will have any action going on, which is fine. The usual rules of no Godmodding, no Meta Gaming, etc. apply.
You can fill as much or as little detail as you wish into the fields below.

Belongings: (What does your character own? A gun? A ship? Maybe they own an entire share of the expedition?)

Your characters can be powerful, or just some stowaway, either is acceptable. Players can decide either to start on the ship "New Haven" or to be planetside at the colony. A list below will show all current functional facilities in the colony, which at first will start off small and will grow as players construct buildings as they see fit.

My Own Characters
Name: Barkely Jaion
Appearance: He is of average height and stature. He tends to wear a mining helmet with a working flashlight on it for no reason along with a utility belt of sorts with the most random sort of trinkets anyone would expect to find, some useful, others not so much. He wears a suit that displays data in a holographic image that appears just below his vision when looking straight ahead. He had brown hair that is neatly combed but is often ruffled with his antics.
Backstory: Barkely was an explorer at heart since he was a child. He joined the stellar exploration team at the age of 20, which unfortunately for him was part of the military, and began to explore the cosmos. Of course when an entire board of species came together to create a colony on an uncharted planet, he jumped at the chance, and just barely managed to convince his commanding officer to let him go on what he assumed, would be the best experience to date.
Personality: He is sparky, impulsive, but passionate. He often tends to fidget around with his suit if nothing is going on, and when something is, he tends to bounce from foot to foot as the situation unravels, if he isn't already diving head first. He can pick up on other people's emotions to a certain degree, and is always looking to help, although some would argue that he would just gum things up.
Abilities: He has a suit that can display data and scan. Other than standard firearms training, not much that is overly noteworthy.
Belongings: His environmental suit, an energy rifle, and a couple of snacks. He didn't come all too well prepared.
Jobs: He is a subordinate of the exploration division of the colony. Explore areas of interest, catalog them, and send the coordinates to the science team or the mining team.
Other: He loves foreign alien foods. Unfortunately, this has caused quite the stomach cramps and sickly nights.

Species: Former Aquazorais Sentinel
Appearance: Dusk appears to be a teaming mass of organic matter attached to a large circular machine with tentacles spilling out from the sides. One side of the machine has a circular edge rise out where more organic matters attaches itself to, and a circular head rises along with it with three orange slits for eyes.
Age: Virtual Age 23, Actual Age: 7
Backstory: Originally taken from his original species, and engineered to be a weapon to quell the rebelling armies of an oppressed planet by altering enabling him to control a drone army. Several revolutionaries managed to infiltrate the site where Dusk was held, and implanted him false human memories so that he would think and empathize like them. The drones switched sides and the rebels won, and Dusk was picked up by several groups, moving from one to one before breaking off and becoming a freelancer. He eventually joined the colonists team not out of want but out of necessity. Money was a problem, and this organization was willing to pay for a way out of that problem, and nobody would even have to know who he was.
Personality: He tends to be a bit cantankerous, especially when dealing with situations about his identity or people endangering himself or people around him. He's not very social, although not as far as to not talk to anyone. His Ill-Tempered mood just about spreads to any stressful situation or event. Underneath some of the rage and anti-social behavior, he can be very committed and is often very stubborn when it comes to giving up a cause or even three inches to an enemy. To those whom he calls friends can expect an undying loyalty.
Abilities: He is able to use psionics to levitate objects, as well as discharge energy to defend himself, although this is restricted to his line of sight. He has a Psionic Extension Ray that allows him to use psionics in a much larger area, but he still needs the coordinates via a scanner or a camera.
Belongings: He has a small vessel to carry around himself since he is immobile and uses a special remote controlled humanoid drone to move and interact with the world for him. It is also for this reason, many don't actually know who he is since all they ever meet is the drone. The drone itself isn't disguised to be human in anyway, it's quite clear you are talking to a robot of sorts. It carries a built in laser, energy shields, and manipulators to pick up and set down objects, as well as a scanner and of course, camera.
Jobs: Dusk is part of the military aspect of the Colony, although more for defense. His job is to make sure peace is maintained through the colony and that either external or internal threats don't destroy the outpost.
Other: Dusk is immobile and stays inside his vessel at all times aside for his drone. Nobody knows of his true nature.
