The Thing That Never Dies
The year is 2055, aliens landed more then 25 years ago and humans have then since made friends with them. They walk among us like everyday people now and get treated the same as everyone else. One day a alien is walking alone through an alley and get's brutally murdered, head was found a few feet away in a dumpster, the alien race is furious and say's that the human's have done it on purpose and can no longer be trusted. The government denies the claim and want's an apology, they hire a private detective to find out who the killer really is and why he did it before an all out war goes on between the 2 races..
Dorian wakes up in the morning to the sun already up and shining bright, he sighed and realized today was probably going to be just another boring day since he didn't have anything going on. He was downstairs drinking his coffee and reading the morning paper when he read about the dead alien and everything that was going on between the government and the alien race. Just then his phone rang and he picked it up, "Dorian Grey, Private detective." he answered and nearly dropped his coffee cup when he heard the voice on the other line, "This is the president, I am sure by now you have heard of the incident with the alien murder, we are almost at the brink of war with the alien race. We need someone to clear the name of the government and show that it was someone acting of their own accord. We have looked over every private detective and you are the best, do you take on the duty that the government has given you?
Dorian stood their motionless not knowing how to reply, "Yes." he said in somewhat of a squeak not able to get his breath. "Then get it done." the president said before hanging up. Dorian stood their a few more moment's before collapsing to the ground not knowing what had just happened. He regained himself and stood up, picking up the phone with still shaking hand's he called his assistant, jasina to tell her they had a job and he would need her to come into work today.
The cell phone groans against the fine polished table, playing pinball against a lamp, a cylindrical glass of water—with internal electric cooling, and a half-empty bottle of black lipstick.
Jasina Blaze squeezes her eyes, pushes her palms against her ears, and whimpers. "Oh god. Who's calling me. And why did I leave it on Supervibrate!"
Bzzzt. Bzzzt. Bzzzt. The cell phone slides closer to the table's edge.
She turns over, her fiery hair flailing. Rustling the sheets, she grabs for her phone but smacks her hand against the tall glass of water. “Blerg!”
It spills. Near-freezing water splashes her face.
Jasina leaps out of bed and groans. She wipes the water from her freckled face. "Ugh. Someone is so gonna die today."
The phone slides off the table, about to give its final ring.
But she catches it midair and answers. "Hey! This better be important! Thanks to you―" Jasina spits out some water and checks her wall clock, "—I just lost 22 minutes of dreamtime!"
A robot sweeps in and starts to clean up Jasina’s bed.
The Thing That Never Dies
Dorian checked his watch as the phone rang, he knew that Jasina would probably be sleeping and he felt almost bad for having to wake her up but they needed to get started on this case ASAP. He was about to say something when he heard the click meaning she was on the line when she started getting mad, "It's Dorian, your boss." he said chuckling softly. "I'm going to need you to come into the office early today, we just got an important case and it need's to get started ASAP. I will be down to the office in about 15 minutes, just be there in like 30 if you could." he said before hanging up the phone. He went and walked upstair's turning on the water for the shower before looking at himself in the mirror and deciding that he needed to shave took an extra five minutes to makes his face as smooth as possible, never really liking the feeling of scruff.
He looked in the mirror after he was done and smiled before getting in the now steaming hot shower and letting it sear his skin, he let out a content sigh alway's having liked the feeling of hot water hitting his skin. He heard his phone go off for the reminder he had set and sighed not really wanting to get out, opening the door he stepped out the steam coming off his body as he hit the cool air of his apartment. Grabbing his phone he went and got dressed in a blue collared shirt, blue/black striped tie, and black slacks with a black jacket before grabbing his car key's and walking out of the door to get to the office.
