A few months had passed since the end of the Clone Wars, Emperor Palpatin begins to consolidate his power of the newly established Empire. Sending his armies to wipe out any remnants of the Separatists and the Jedi Order, and crushing the many insurrections that crop up throughout the Galaxy. In his sinister quest for domination, soldiers in the thousands, be they clone, or human, are sent to their needless deaths in the dozens of campaigns. Many dare not speak out against the slaughter of their brothers in arms. However, one man who had lost so much in the aftermath could not take it no longer.
It all began that one day, the beginning of the end of the young Galactic Empire. What was to be a day for celebration, as the finest cadets from the six top Imperial Academies were to graduate and become Officers of the Empire. However, the day would end in tragedy and death. As the bombs went off, throwing the sector in a panic as Gentis' Cadets took to the streets and began their assault upon the Imperial Plaza. The Emperor's Enforcer, Darth Vader led the defense against the attackers. The battle lasted briefly as the revolutionaries fell back, however, the defenders were taken by surprise as the Palace was ablaze with a green mist, Aorth-6, a deadly necrotic virus. All within the building had no chance of survival, as they were dead within mere moments, including the Emperor himself.
This had sent his Apprentice into a fit of rage as he stormed out the gates, forcing his weary stormtroopers into the fray that would unfortunately be a futile move. As Gentis' men were waiting, and unleashed a furious volley of laser bolts, the stormtroopers quickly fell, but the Dark Lord remained, he felt no pain as he absorbed most of the shots, and deflecting them with his lightsaber, before meeting his inevitable death, he took at least several dozen of the revolutionaries with him. In his finally moments. his helmet was damaged, falling apart, and in those moments, he glared at the men with a dark fury unlike any other, sending a chill down their spins as they looked into his tainted eyes. Gentis had moved past the men as he wished for the sith lord to see the man who orchestrated the coup. They met before he gloated, and finally put an end to his misery, walking away and signaling his men to finish the job.
Phase one was completed, both Palpatin and Vader were dead, and no one was aware he was the perpetrator of the act. Now the Empire was his to take by strength of arms, but some loose ends needed to be tied. A day later, Grand Moff Tarkin had arrived to assume control of Coruscant(After Gentis had reported the Emperor was merely in critical condition rather then dead), and immediately was taken prisoner, his guards killed, and was interrogated regarding new information about the Death Star. Being less then cooperative, in frustration Gentis ordered for Tarkin's execution. What came next would lead the end of the Empire.
Broadcasting live on Holonet across the whole galaxy, Gentis and his allies had officially announced Palpatin's death. And with the Strength of a few Generals and Admirals, had crowned himself Emperor. Typically, his takeover did not settle well with the other Moffs and high ranking officers. Empire was torn apart in a civil war among the loyalists and revolutionaries, further weakening the Empire. Many worlds broke away immediately, from worlds and systems loyal to the late republic, Separatist Holdouts making themselves known and banding together, to neutral or independent powers who now have taken the opportunity to consolidate their own power, or simply hide within their borders as they wait out for the storm of Galactic Proportions to pass over.
Sixty years have passed since the Gentis Coup. The Galaxy is a much different place now, the entity known as the Empire no longer exists, in it's place are many small successor states proclaiming themselves true heirs to the Empire and accuse one another of being pretenders. The same with few others, proclaiming of being the true Confederacy or Republic, while others simply do not care for such titles. However, the Galaxy remains a dangerous place, as once again, war or the threat of war plagues this era, many nations rising or fallen, plotting against the other.
