The Great City, also only known as Gargoyle's Haven span many acres of land and reach both high over the clouds and deep underground. A heavy fog, product of both the nearby Sea of Laments and the ever increasing pollution of the City, blanket the area in a light grey cloud, hiding the source of the ever present scent of filth and blood in the air. The paved streets are unclear in the perpetual gloom formed by the pregnant clouds overhead, and even the warm glow of the many oil lamps hanging out of the many households and other establishments of the City fail to brighten the dreary atmosphere of paranoia, envy and despair cloaking the whole area.
It's a depressing place to live, especially for someone who was brought up in the gutters, especially for someone orphaned and abandoned by all like yourself. You turned twelve today, and were promptly kicked out of the hovel calling itself an orphanage where you had passed most if not all your young life, with not even a water-skin or a blanket, never mind a by your leave, and were told to 'find a job' before being unceremoniously hit by the closing door. Find a job, they said, but only the workshops would accept you, and those rarely make for a long life, never mind a stint as a chimney sweeper!
So you find yourself alone, cold and in the usual rags you were 'graciously' left with and with no idea of where to go. The laws were lax down there in the Gutters, and life was hard, not like the Aeries where the Royal Family lived, high above! But, at least, you were not a caught felon, and thus not in the dangerous Catacombs of the City. That had to count for something, right?
You had to find your way up to the Commons... at any cost, or your life will soon be forfeit, you knew this. You had money to make, and no law to keep you from crawling your way down or dying a dog's death, so you better go up, right? Right!
And that's where evil start, that's where your tale start, a tale of bitter survival and ruthless betterment of one's situation on the detriment of others. This is a Victorian London look-alike, with different geography and far darker consequence for messing up, so be careful of what you do... and trust no one.
Use a spellchecker, take the time to space your paragraphs and make your posts as interesting as you can and you will have no trouble from me, and may even get interesting things happen... not good ones, of course, as it's a dark tale, but interesting opportunities.
One last thing; When I say trust no one, I mean no one, at least in the IC. The OOC is another matter entirely, as though you will be encouraged of being rivals and even enemies in the tale the OOC is a friendly and lighthearted place for us to have fun and chat.
That is all, feel free to ask away at anything you may want to know!
