Eastern border of Taberi Empire
A small escort of Taberian Heavy Infantry walked on a dirt path. In the midst of them was Doran Taberi. He was sent by his father's orders to oversee an investigation and to make sure the troops don't pass over into Shal'raan. He was also accompanied by Sir Omar Incastai
"Prince Doran, there is smoke ahead." Omar pointed to their right. There was a burning caravan with corpses of those who owned it strewn about. As the group got closer, there was evidence of a battle. All the bodies were unarmed. The caravan's contents were missing. Doran let out a sigh. "Another one, Omar. The fourth one this week."
As Sir Omar and Prince Doran investigated further, a small woman came out of a bush, tears were trickling from her eyes. "My Prince! The raiders!" She collapsed to her knees in a sudden burst of hysteria. Doran watched the woman cry. "Let's take her back to the capital. She can give an eye-witness report to the King." Doran turned and walked away.
Omar hurried to Doran's side. "Prince Doran, this is a serious situation. Those raiders are attacking our caravans. We are lucky enough that they haven't hit our weapon caravans." Omar said in a hushed tone. Doran nodded at the man's statement. "Omar, you take care of the woman. Infantry, March!" Doran shouted. The infantry regathered and encircled Doran, Omar and the woman. The escorts headed to Travosia, Capital of Taberi Empire.
Travosia, Capital of Taberia Empire
On the seat of the throne sat Merek Taberi. He was watched as an audience gathered before him. Most of them were business men. It was hard to tell that they were, they looked more like an angry mob. There were all talking among themselves about one thing: the recent raids.
Merek tapped his chin and stood up. "Silence." He said placidly. The mob's voices quieted down. "I know that the recent events are disturbing to all of you. I assure you, I have not been sitting here. I have taken action. These marauders will be found and killed on the spot. These raids have not only affected you, but all of the Taberi Empire and those within it." Merek walked forward towards the crowd.
An older man in the group shouted to Merek. "This has been going on for weeks! You expect us to sit here and think you will take care of the problem?!" As the man talked, the more angry filled his voice. "You have a point, Sir. I did find this out a few days ago. If you, the people of Taberi, told me. Well, I would've taken care of the problem. Right now, gentlemen, I have sent Prince Doran and Sir Omar to take care of the problem. If that is all, go back to your wives and sleep well tonight knowing that the situation is under control." He nodded towards a few guards and they herded the group out.
As soon as the mob was out, Queen Kaylein entered the room. "Merek, I heard the commotion." She said sadly. Merek turned to face her. "I am sorry, My Queen. It is taken care of. I hope our son and Omar come back with promising results." Queen Kaylein smiled at the thought of her son coming home. "Our boy has been gone for so long. I miss him." Merek nodded in agreement. Although, Merek was the one who sent his son around the empire, in search of the raiders. "Guards, if anyone comes back with problems. Tell them to hold it until tomorrow." Merek and the Queen retreated from the throne room and into the deeper parts of the castle.
