Here we go! I found a great roleplay idea in the interest check but it seems the project has been abandon and I can’t get the idea out of my head, so, I decided to propose my own spin of the idea. I’m a huge fan of mixing genres and fantasy and scifi are one of my two favorites to play. Taking what I read I mixed it with my own ideas and adopted some knowledge from one of my favorite games and create Remnants of Earth. The history I’ve written provides a general idea of the world setting, and I’ve vaguely explained the government and some important locations. If there is real interest on the idea I will polish the idea and expand on the world setting.

Technology – Mag/Tech
Long ago, earth was invaded by extraterrestrial beings, bent on taking over earth’s resources. The aliens commanded thousands of fleets that made earth tremble, and possessed an array of terrifying magical and technological weapons – the greatest of which was terraforming. They destroyed human cities and built their own alien empires. For centuries they ruled over earth unchallenged. They ravaged earth’s resources, changing the planet’s landscapes forever. They experimented on animals and humans, creating new species that could survive the new harsh environment. They named the new-humans Homins and enslaved them under religious doctrines, and homins systematically worshiped the aliens as gods. But as earth’s resources depleted the aliens sought to conquer new worlds and little by little their military fleet left.
This was the opportunity humanity was waiting for. When the aliens first arrived, those who had anticipated the invasion hid within underground and aerial fortresses, where they undetected, secretly studied the aliens and their magical technology. When the opportunity presented itself humanity fought back using their own reinvented magical technological weapons and magical artificial intelligent automatons. The war lasted nine years. On the surface, strips of land were scorched and destroyed in chemical warfare, and millions perished from magical diseases. The aliens were annihilated and their cities were taken over by humans. But peace did not last.
The higher-spheres of humanity quickly realized the world they knew had perished, and in an attempt to restore the old world they begun to use the terraforming technology left behind by the aliens. Believing they were doing the right thing the first testing face of the terraforming technology begun and it seemed to work, slightly changing the ecology, but in the process the biodiversity of insectoid beings changed horrifically. The insectoid beings, now known as Kitins, have become the most feared, deadly, and reviled enemies on the planet. Some say Kitins were a failsafe left by the aliens to cleanse the planet of humans and homins to ready the planet for their pending return.
This interminable struggle between species began when the militant Humans, taken aback by the first encounter, slaughtered the creatures without thought. The revenge of the Kitins was swift and devastating: the Great Swarming of 2481 eradicated the unsuspecting civilizations within days. Were it not for the joint efforts of the humans, atomatons and homins, they may have never survived these horrific times.
The Council of Five and alliances were created, and though none have united as one government, in the New Lands they are united by the Treaty of Peace and agreed to restrict the use of certain types of alien magical technology. Those who opposed the council and their laws fled to The Dunes. Among the remnants of the old civilizations, the deserts are a lawless, dangerous land populated by Marauders. The Council of Five and their laws don’t extend beyond the New Lands, and many settlements in the desert regions are conquered or razed by marauder warlords, dogmatic cultist, and powerful Kitin creatures. But, the dunes are where the old world artifacts lie, and many an explorer has found a fortune in an ancient ruin. Given the freedom of the dunes, one’s legacy can also be made other ways: bounty hunting, Kitin slaying, thievery, and magical discoveries only scratch the surface.
There are five races to play, but the human race will be played by me. However you have the opportunity to introduce your own race, your race falls under the umbrella term Homins, which are symbiotic of the human race. This means their ancestors were once humans genetically altered by the aliens into four different races – so homins basically have two legs, two arms, two eyes though they are genetically different in appearance and physical abilities. Homins are basically intelligent beings, like humans, but they’ve fashioned their own societies, which is completely different to the Humans.
Each race has an inherent magical ability they are primarily dominant, but all races can learn these magical skills. Think of it like a racial spell, a racial spell is inherent to the race you introduce, but the other races can learned this magic through study and training or even used by enchanted items. The types of magic abilities are open to your imagination.
The automatons were created by the Humans, though they are not a race of their own, they can be independent if they choose to be. Atomatons are basically intelligent robots and you can play one however you like. Atomatons are pure tech but what animates them is a magical energy source, which the humans created out of the alien technology.
I will be selecting four races from the ones you submit. What I’m looking for is the basic information, the name of the race, their appearance and the makeup of their society.
The plot is open for discussion. We can be adventurous seeking fame and riches, we can be guardians of the prohibited magical technology, we can be marauders opposing the Council of Five, we can be ambassadors involved in the political game of our world, or we can be militants fighting Kitins and other beasts. The directions we can take are many, we just need to agree on which challenge to take. We play as a group against the environment and others, we will not be fighting each other but dueling is accepted among yourselves.
Participation is relaxed. We have RL obligations so I don’t expect you to write every day, twice a week (or more) is great, but once a week is also acceptable. All I ask is that if you join and need to leave to let me know. Writing level will be medium standards to highly moderated, so casual to advanced, depending on who joins. I’m all for character development and acceptable spelling and grammar. Other rules will be added once the RP starts.
