Welcome to the Super Robot Wars: Operation Restore interest check thread, another attempt to relaunch it after it died in TV Tropes due to a lack of interest when a lot of people were interested when I did an interest check beforehand.
Any interests, questions or whatnot, let me know. I'm eager to do this.
Hopefully the title doesn't get copyrighted.
In case you don't know what series/franchises can get involved in a SRW/T RP, check here and here
Feel free to use either canon/OC characters, but the specified mecha used with said character must be from a said series/franchise.
Here's the story for this RP that I want to run with:
Here's a draft of what was suppose to be the story before one member's opposition in TV Tropes led to its abandonment. In the Universal Era, the Earth has made major progress in colonizing outer space and terraforming the Moon and Mars to create colony settlements due to concerns on overpopulation and dwindling lack of natural resources. Global warming has also become a serious threat to the survival of the human race.
It's in this era that machines called Labors are used worldwide for the construction industry in countries where they are being threatened by rising sea levels. Later on, various police and military forces have found some considerable use for Labors. While the former used them with great success, the military never found any serious use for them aside from a few countries until the One Year War began between the United Nations and the Principality of Zeon. In this conflict, another new machine called the Mobile Suit was used by Zeon military forces that gave UN forces a serious disadvantage.
A mysterious spaceship, known as the SDF-1 Macross, crashed on Earth a few days before the end of the OYW, which led to research and development of its salvaged technology with mecha known as Variable Fighters being tested prior to adoption.
After the end of the OYW, various power blocs were formed from various continents such as the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations and the Human Reform League and engaged with one another in the Solar Wars. During this time, the UN Security Council agreed to form an elite special forces unit called the Titans to counter any further aggression from renegade Zeon factions. The Titans saw action in battling out alien empires such as the Campbellians, the Boazanians and the Baams while the Earth and the colonies try to heal the damages sustained by the wars. The last major alien war was against the Zentradi.
Mithril, a black-ops special forces unit with neutral allegiance long thought to be dead by the end of the Cold War, began to move back into the shadows, once again after the Titans gave authorization to their black-ops division, the A-LAWs to gas a colony after getting reports of anti-Titans and UN protests known as the 30 Bunch Incident. Mithril began a campaign of sabotaging Titans installations while freeing civilians and other personalities who were imprisoned for voicing out their opposition out to them.
New mobile suits, labors and variable fighters were developed and pressed into service as the UN officially launched colony ships to ensure the survival of the human race after the last four alien wars.
Various factions such as the Dinosaur Empire, Amalgam, the Zaboom, Ceruleans and the Glorft all begin to move in to the Earth, having joined together in an alliance to take out their hated enemies.
In the midst of this conflict, a shadowy organization begins to manipulate events in order to give them an advantage in controlling world politics like they did once before. While their influence waned before the beginning of the UE, they seek to use the era to take back their rightful place as it's "true master". Even if it means working with other villains to make their dream a reality. Our story begins when the Titans began several operations on Earth and in space to root out both anti-Titans/UN opposition and hostile alien incursions...
Countless milliena ago, during the time of a great, ancient civilization, (such as the Mu Empire from Raideen and Ra Xephon, or — though you might not know this one yet — the city of Atlantis from the 70's Getter Robo Manga, ) a great sorcerer, philosopher, and prophet foresaw the end of their great civilization. However, those in the positions of ruling did not wish to frighten the populace, or even themselves, with any possibilities of everything coming to an end. Basically, they were ignorant fools, too drunk on their power and their grand lifestyle to truly listen to the wise prophet. Ultimately, the prophet, thinking that there was nothing he could do, abandoned these fools to their fates, using his sorcery to grant himself eternal life, and then using it to teleport himself away danger, when it finally struck. He did try to save them all when the great disaster, whatever it was, finally struck, but not even a sorcerer is omnipotent; he only was able to teleport himself, and a few select followers, who he also made immortal after they escaped. He also tried to save his great love, but... she was killed — by a falling boulder, by a stray monster's attack, etc. — just before the group teleported away...
Fast foreward millenia later. By this point, if Rah Xaphon is included, the sorceror is biding his time, willing to let the remnants of Mu have a go at it before executing his own plan. If not, he'll just go ahead with it anyway. The sorceror, also being a prophet, was able to fortell the best time to enact his plan; in approximately the mid 24th century, when all sorts of new dangers and threats were running amok on Earth. And that's only the tip of the iceberg; the One Year War (if included, ) is in it's beginning stages, with the Federation and Zeon trying to determine the future of both Earth, as well as Outer Space. Thankfully, all is not lost; the Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, and more, all start coming out of the woodwork to take on monstrous threats such as Dr.Hell, or the Dinosaur Empire. At the same time, the war brings forth other new heroes as well, such as Amuro Ray and the 0079th Mobile Suit Gundam.
This is the era in which the immortal sorcerer chooses to enact his plan. First, he will test the various players; nudge things just oh so slightly out of their previous predetermined order, to then see where the dominoes fall. The ultimate end goal is to to obtain both various resources and objects, such as Z alloys, or stores of Getter Rays, as well as to capture various individuals who possess vital information, such as Dr.Saotome. When all is properly assembled, the Sorceror will have enough power and resources to attempt to recreate the very world itself; to create a world where his ancient civilization was never destroyed, and where his old love never died, and where his old home would grow and prosper straight on to today!
...However, doing so would mean completely obliterating the reality as is it now; the reality that our heroes knew would then cease to be. And so, when they finally learn of the Soceror's plan, they strive to stop both it, and his followers, while still having to deal with the various individual threats posed by their respective villains. (Who might form a cabal at some point, possibly formed by the Sorcerer when he decides the heroes have outlived their usefulness.) Along the way, the various stages of the Sorcerer's plan causes several Timey Wimy hijinks, resulting in places and beings from other universes (such as the Turn A Gundam, or the Armored Troopers from the Astreauges Galaxy) showing up. The final stages would involve the heroes only partly stopping the plan; the rest of reality becomes changed, but the heroes (and some of the villains, ) were able to remain, and so, the heroes have to Set Right What Went Wrong.
