Name: Aki Farren
As the daughter of one of the king's knights Aki has shown potential for the art of sword fighting. The girl is quick on her feet and notices minute details, making her strikes and blows both swift and efficient. She's got a certain stubbornness to her that makes her pursue her goals without looking back, and when she sets her mind on something you can expect Aki to go on with her plans, whether or not people accompany her. Her decisions may seem rash when viewed through someone else's eyes, but Aki is a calculating teen who always tries to think of the flaws in her plans. Despite her calm expression, she's usually fretting over minute details inside her head while playing out all the possible things that could go wrong, the possible risks or probability of success. Aside, from her skill with the sword Aki has shown potential for electro kinesis. Something she had learned from spending lazy afternoons with the court wizard. Her out of the box way of thinking also makes her fighting style rather unpredictable, she fights with a combination of sword fighting and weak spells.
Aki's stubbornness is both her boon and her bane. Sometimes Aki lets her thick head get the best of her, despite how improbable the rate of success despite her mostly calm demeanour there are times when she believes she can pull things off when in reality it's just foolish thinking. She's a hazard to herself at times, putting unnecessary burdens on her shoulders even when there are other ways to solve things. Despite her speed and precision, Aki isn’t very strong and wouldn’t fare well with weapons that rely on brute strength. Give her an armored battle axe and she would probably take forever to swing it without nearly falling over. Aside from her previous flaws she can be a bit too blunt for her own good, spouting out hurtful words when her temper gets the best of her and regretting what she uttered just when it’s too late. Aki has her irrational moments when all her bottled up emotions get the best of her. During these moments she loses her rational side and ends up making mistakes right and left.
A lithe girl of 5'3, Aki doesn't look like much and is pretty much just another girl with a bit more growing to do. Despite her soft and childlike features she does her best to appear tough and capable. Her eyes are as dark as coal and tend to stand out against her pale complexion. Aki keeps her black hair pulled back into a pony tail almost all the time and would probably have cut it ages ago if not for her mother telling her to keep it the way it is. She thinks it's annoying when people underestimate her for the way she looks so Aki tends to wear boyish clothing in an attempt to follow her father. The girl's wardrobe pretty much consists of long sleeved tunics, and trousers a tad too big. Usually she folds the edges or tucks them into her knee length boots. Due to her daily training sessions with her father she always has two leather pauldrons on and a wooden sword is almost always by the belt on her side.
"You're going to leave, Aki. You're going with the other kids."
"No. I won't leave you dad. I won't leave you and mom."
"Don't be so stubborn, Aki! You have to."
"No, I don't. I-I can help you! Didn't you train me yourself?"
A little too stubborn and independent for her own good. Aki isn't the sort of person who lets people tie her down, she makes decisions for herself without so much as turning back. She's a calculating person, a calm and collected girl that keeps her troubles to herself and bottles up all her doubts and worries behind calm smiles or snappy comebacks. She's always afraid for the future, just too much of a coward to show any fear or remorse. Aki will continue to bottle up all her worries and troubles until she explodes and eventually her own refusal to express herself will cause her own self-destruction. She's the sort of person who'll try to help others and try to seem alright even though on the inside she's crumbling. She's young and afraid just like everyone else, but too proud to show it.
Aki tends to see minute details and thinks outside the box. Her way of solving things can be odd at times, but she does think things through. The girl might seem cold and distant at times, but really she's just lost in her thoughts and probably planning something. When it comes to her friends the girl isn't the chirpy optimist who talks away nonstop. She's more of the quiet listener who's there to offer a shoulder to lean on. The teen is a bit awkward when it comes to expressing her feelings so don't expect her to be affectionate or verbal. She's a bit of a pessimist, and isn't exactly the easiest to approach, but when someone earns her trust expect her to go out of her way to watch their back. She may not seem like the friendliest person around, but she enjoys company and can be friendly, just not in the ray of sunshine sort of way.
In heated situations she can usually think of decent plans, though when things start going awry her rational side will fly out the window and her brash side tends to take control. Despite the calm facades and taunting smirks the girl is still just a child who's in too much of a hurry to grow up.
The only daughter of a knight and seamstress. Aki grew up on tales of bravery and honor. She grew up energetic and excited to face the world, but unlike girls her age she wasn't interested in dolls and playing house. The girl's interest was piqued by exploration and the ways of the sword. The stories her father told her made her want to help fight for justice and peace, so she would usually tag along whenever her dad went on patrols, gaping at all the sites and asking him to teach her how to use a sword. His wife didn't really like the idea and he himself was reluctant at first, but as time marched on Aki just kept asking more and more so eventually he decided to teach her. Besides, exercise was good for kids, wasn't it?
At the age of eleven he got Aki her first wooden sword and began teacher her the basics. Her father expected her to get bored of it in a week or more, but her interest in the art of the sword only grew. Her father continued giving her lessons and she soaked them up with much interest almost like a sponge soaking up water. Eventually she began following her father to the castle. She'd observe him and the other knights, trying to memorize their movements. When she got home she would usually try to imitate them and when she couldn't she'd ask her father for a helping hand and tips. Occasionally when her dad was off on missions she'd still go visit the court wizard, due to her constant visits she had befriended an old woman who served as the court wizard, and so even without her dad she began to visit the castle. The old woman offered to teach her some magic, stating that it would add an oomph to her fighting style. Without her dad's knowledge the girl took lessons under the court wizard and realized she had an affinity for electricity. It had taken a lot of hard work and months of training but eventually she learned a few weak spells.
It surprised her father when she showed him just how much she had improved on his birthday and she even got his permission to join the Guild in Aven one day when she was older, but everything changed when the empire began to attack and eventually her dad forced her onto a cart with children headed nowhere.
