Two distant horses went speeding by the semi-desert terrain, dust flying from the speeding animals. The black steed carried a cloaked figure with a curious looking long bow and quiver full of arrows strapped to her back. Her name was Charlotte "Chello" Blanc, who seemed like a delicate woman who couldn't harm a thing. Chello's silky long brown hair curled over her collarbones, her cheekbones high, pink lips, and a pair of sharp round eyes that looked very much like an eagle. If she were to stand, she would be five foot seven with a rather fullish figure. She was very well-cultured in both looks and manners.
However, her skills in archery were one of the best in Merillo. What set her apart form most snipers/archers was that she didn't use her talents for the King. It had been a long time since she had last been in court, much less in a dress. Not after when she realized that this kingdom was full of lies and deceit. Her light brown eyes flashed in anger, her lips pursed into a thin line.
Chello loved her people, and she would do anything to restore the kingdom to order.
The other brown steed carried another cloaked figure, who seemed to be riding without gripping the reins. Cloth bandages with once-red stains were wrapped around his face, covering most of his lower half. His name was Levi Castello, a myrmidon who was skilled in the arts of blades and speed. His brown hair curled everywhere, as if trying to cover the upper portion of his face. He was somewhat of a lone wolf, never socializing with anyone unless necessary. He had lived most of his life with his parents, who were knights serving under the King.
He quit his job as soon as Chello, a long-time friend of his informed Levi of this...fake kingdom. For a while, Levi denied everything. He was loyal, loyal to his kingdom, his family, and to his king. However, a good punch to the cheek from Chello that sent him flying into a wall woke him up in a jiffy.
The two friends headed towards a secluded town near the border of Merillo. It was getting colder, and they couldn't risk getting found by the search parties. After a around thirty minutes of silent riding, the two reached the town. A stream of soldiers passed by the cloaked figures, which roused their suspicion.
"Chello. Someone's in danger..." Levi hesitated, waiting for his scary yet beautiful friend to order him around.
"We can't ignore someone in need. This...kingdom is rotten to it's very core," Chello said, her lips pulled down to a frown.
The two continued, following the soldiers to a horse stable. A girl was surrounded, and it seemed clear enough to the two that she really needed assistance.
"Keep your hood on. I'll give you only 30 seconds to grab that woman."
Without a moments hesitation, Chello grabbed her long bow and quiver, loading her weapon with swiftness. She stared at the soldier closest to the trapped woman, her brown eyes taking in the situation. Silence. Then the whip of air surging with the sick thudding of metal meeting flesh. One down. The soldiers looked around, confused, then spotting the two mounted figures.
Levi spurred his horse into action, heading straight towards the crowd of soldiers. Adrenaline and fear pounded his temples, his mental clock slowly ticking down. Another arrow whizzed closely by him, hitting another soldier near the neck line. The soldiers were now utterly confused whether to attack the oncoming figure or the ranger attacker.
Levi reached the woman, dismounting to kick away a soldier. He smirked, extending his right arm to the woman to they could mount the horse and escape.
"C'mon! Let's go!"
