I don't usually post shit about my life because I'm not the sharing type, but I'm pissed off and feel like ranting and everyone in my house is asleep right now, so here goes.
So tonight when I went in to work (overnight shelf stocker at Walmart), I was pulled into the HR office before clocking in, and I was told that they decided to terminate my temporary position (everyone who works at Walmart is temporary for 90 days). Why did they choose to do so? Because I apparently was supposed to go to work on Saturday night and missed it. I'd checked my schedule many times last week to be sure of my next day of work, because they'd changed my days from what had been the norm to other things, so I was absofuckinglutely sure that my next scheduled shift was going in on Sunday night; the last time I checked it was Thursday evening, because I was going to get GTA 5 on Friday morning and wanted to be sure that I had some days to obsess over it, and it said then that my next day was Sunday.
When I actually did go in on Sunday, the night manager seemed surprised and asked if I was able to clock in, which I was, and I just assumed her confusion was because that was her first night shift after being on days for a long time and so she wasn't sure what exactly was up. Instead of telling me then and there (because it apparently was decided on Sunday morning with the store manager, after I didn't show up for my Saturday night/Sunday morning shift) that I was being let go, she had me work the shift and act as basically the store bitch running back and forth doing all the random tasks that needed doing. About half way through the night, the manager came up to me and asked if I was aware that I had been scheduled for work on Saturday, to which I told her no and that I hadn't been scheduled for that night when I last checked on Thursday. I figured it would only be a minor issue where I got a stern talking to, because they fucking ninja scheduled me and didn't call me about it; I mean, I would have unhappily gone in and worked if I had known they wanted me to be there, but they just fucking added it in there a couple days before whereas they're supposed to have your schedule set at least 2 weeks in advance to avoid this kind of bullshit.
But nope, cunts used that missed day to boot me. They'd over-hired to be in good shape for their yearly inventory that happened at the end of August, and this missed day bullshit gave them good cause to end my temporary employment thing without me having any chance to protest it, cause that's part of the temporary employment agreement. I feel like they fucking shanghaied me with this added in scheduled day without informing me, then they were even bigger cunts and waited for me to come in tonight all ready to work to tell me I was fired, instead of calling me and being professional about it. I'd known going into this that Walmart was a giant bag of dicks, and they certainly were, but this nonsense went quite a ways over the line for what I'd consider acceptably scummy business practices. Sorta like an adding insult to injury thing, making me come in and basically get fired in front of my co-workers instead of giving me the option to do it more privately by going in early to get my last check and such. Fucking douchebags.
On the bright side, I had already been wanting to apply elsewhere to find a better place to work, so now I have plenty of time and motivation to follow through with it. Hopefully my couple months of retail experience will be enough to make the less shitty places around me want to hire me, or maybe I can find some non-retail shit to do. That'd make this whole clusterfuck feel worth it in the end, at least.
Alright, end of rant. Please spare me the meaningless platitudes of "aww, sorry man, that sucks" and "don't worry, you'll find something better" and so forth. I'm just pissed off, not sad and seeking sympathy, so no need for that kind of bullshit here.
