Alright, since my other thread got enough interest for me to determine that I shall indeed make a game, now I need to decide on a theme. I have issue deciding, so I'm going to seek the opinions of the general public who will potentially be playing in this future game. I won't just choose to do whichever theme has the most votes, especially if it's only a small margin, but if there's a hefty majority voting for one option I probably will just go with that.
Below is a short explanation of my thoughts on what I'll do for each option up for voting, so you'll know what to expect in more detail than knowing the genre.
Generic Fantasy: Roles will be general things like Wizard, Thief, Knight, so on, the sort of things you might see as a class or profession in a fantasy RPG. Setting will be a medieval thing, most likely including standard fantasy races for a bit of diversity. For story I'm thinking that players will be lured to the scene of the game by a prophecy, then there'll be a dragon there who is the arbiter of the situation and will be the method of death for the lynch vote people. Rather than an "oh fuck, need to survive" scenario, this story would have the people competing for some kind of power or prize, maybe immortality or godhood, maybe magical artifacts, just something to vie for instead of using the tired old "oh man, someone is killing us, let's lynch fuckers to protect ourselves!" to explain lynch votes.
Generic Supernatural: Roles will be supernatural creatures and probably some monster hunter types as well. Setting will likely be a smallish town far from any major population centers. The story would be the usual kill or be killed scenario to explain the lynching, and the main killer will likely be a werewolf thing so that kind of explains why people cower in fear at night and only do the angry mob thing at day.
Generic Post-Apocalyptic/Fallout: If you want this one, let me know which version you'd prefer. If it's a Fallout inspired game, roles would be things from the Fallout world sorta (some former vault dwellers, a raider or two who gave up the life, at least one ghoul, probably no super mutants or deathclaws as player roles though because that shit's hard to hide), setting would be some fucked up area near an old empty vault, anyone who's played a Fallout game should get the gist here. The story would have to be some kind of shenanigans fitting in with the Fallout world, idk, not sure what I'd do here, maybe say lynch votes are just exiling people to the radioactive wastelands where they're pretty fucking sure to die. If it's the generic post-apoc, I'd go with more generic roles (scavengers, bandits, self-appointed law man, none of the ghouls or other Fallout-specific stuff) and the setting would be a shitty little shanty town built near the ruins of a major city. Story would likely be something to do with some people losing their minds due to the whole everyone is dead thing or maybe radiation or drugs, idk, but it would by necessity be a general kill or be killed thing to explain the lynches.
