BBC Norway: December 24, 2040
Oslo, The Kingdom of Norway
In an historic move today high ranking leaders from China, Russia and Western Nations met in the historic Akershus fortress. Inside it is impossible to guess as to what they are currently discussing, the official agenda is to discuss economic alliances but inside sources have said much more is brewing. Several of said sources have said China and Russia are the dominate force in the meeting, and are pushing for more influence in return for continued economic assistance from the East. While it is no secret that the west has been suffering since the collapse of America and thus far the east has been rather benevolent and generous towards them, if these sources are true it could indicate a changing dynamic. Rest assured the BBC will continue to cover these events as they unfold.

December 24th, was the day of the end. In this meeting as the sun set it set not just on the Earth but on the west. In the infamous "Akershus Meeting" western nations were forced to ally with either China or Russia, or they would lose the meager economic assistance that they relied on. By this time Russia had already militarily occupied many Eastern European countries and was threatening to expand further, and China had done the same in Asia and to America. Under these strains world leaders from the once proud west finally bowed, and signed away their nations.
These "Death Contracts" as they were called varied from each country. The terms offered by the Chinese were rather generous, reflecting the new moderate government that had emerged in the past decade. This gave them the pick of the crop, and a loyal following. In return for an "economic alliance" (what was really economic-political domination by China) China agreed to preserve the lifestyle their puppets had come to expect and respect local anti-pollution laws. China force exported many Chinese to take over the high prestige jobs, forcing the local populations to take jobs as miners, shop keepers and other low-education jobs. They also took over the school systems (though indirectly, by playing their puppets in the government) . The locals only have to work 20 hours a week, in a job rotation program, giving them a lot of free time. The Chinese also left the local government structures in place, allowing elections and the monarchies to continue. Knowing that fighting the local traditions would only brew resentment and history showed Europeans were unconquerable in traditional warfare and invasions.
As time passed China found that leaving the freedoms of speech and other rights intact was the best way to control the population. The majority of people loved the Chinese because they did not have to work very much and were given a basic living wage by the government (about 20K a year). Those who tried to voice discontent with the domination by the Chinese were soon silenced by the young people who weer accustomed to having their lazy lifestyle. However to maintain their good reputation China did make the local governments turn over control of the press to China, though this is and was unknown to the public. The same was done for the school system, which was made to breed artists and other people who had no skills in leadership. In other words a boot camp for happy slaves to teach them how to follow orders and do basic math.
Russia was less friendly to the countries that allied with them, all rejects China found useless. The Russian "President" (really a dictatorship in the guise of rigged elections) went for the more traditional method of domination, military. He sent out the military into his ally's nations and instilled dictatorships who would follow his bidding. Following the model used by Stalin he burned the constitutions of the nations and stomped them underfoot, literally burning them on national TV. Any protesters were tortured on the public television channels as a warning to those who would dare to think freely.
If life as a Russian "ally" was bad then life in the motherland was hell. Cameras were insalled in every home to watch every person's every movement and thought. Schedules were issued by the state and jobs given based on what the state needed. Everyone is married based on the central government's choice for them. Those with "inferior genetics" are either killed or simply never marry and die virgins. No art is allowed and religion is destroyed, Christians are literally crucified in a modern arena on national TV.

This role-play is really two (or more if requested) role-plays. Which will be hosted with separate threads, OOC's ect. The first will be based in Oslo, Norway. The second will be based somewhere in Russia, I don't really have a place in mind so I am open to suggestions. Our characters will consist of members of the local population, I might allow exceptions if you make a reaaaalllly good case. The characters would be young adults(18-24) and how they interact in this world, I'll toss in national events and news stories periodically to keep things interesting.
Please feel free to offer suggestions or make requests I am pretty open about the RP. If there is enough demand I might open threads in other locations, such as Chinese occupied America. Also please note global warming is active here so I will get detailed about the specific location later.
