Rise of the Gumiho (1x1 rp for LadyNova and CaptainQ)
Deep in a mountain forest there lived a Gumiho. Gumiho's were divine creatures with nine tails and were often very dangerous if provoked. This one was named Wol Ryung. He lived in solitude with a human monk who was a very good friend of his and always seemed to make it a goal to protect him from the outside world. The world that was so bent in chaos from the wars of mankind and other divine or celestial creatures. He was given strict advice from his friend to never get involved with the affairs of this outside world especially with the likes of men. Men were devious and cunning and could not be trusted. They would not ever see you as a equal but as a weapon for them to use against their enemies. Wol Ryung took this advice and listened to it. He knew his friend ment the best for him and he would honor him by following that advice. All would have went well until one day he saw something. At first he thought it was a patrol of humans but their ears were not right and they seemed to walk more upright as if they were godly in some way. He stood their watching through the trees curious of their design and who they were. Especially the beautiful pink haired woman who sat upon a horse besides a wagon of some kind. It was white and made out of fine wood. The design of it was unique and beautiful. It would seem that nature was a inspiration in their creations for he saw designs of leaves in their work. It almost looked as if the wagon was formed out of nature rather then built from simple wood. Their skin seemed to shine from the light poking from out of the tree line. The very armor they weared if any at all looked like golden leaves. Every aspect of them was beautiful. He wanted to know what they were up to but first he counted them. There was a total of twenty of them. Several males and few females. He suspected the one in the wagon was very important cause they kept a collum of warriors around it. They sat upon white steeds that seemed a bit more wild then those the human's would ride. He wanted to go down there and inspect them closer.
"So this is where you have been the whole time" A voice came out and he looked to see who it was. It was Chang Jo, The monk who has looked after him this whole time. He nodded and looked back towards the creatures he was watching. Chang stepped closer until he was beside Ryung and sighed as he saw what his friend had been doing. "What are they?....." Ryung asked his friend.
"They are what we call elves, They are a peaceful timid people but they are not afraid to fight for what they love" He answered. Ryung turned to look at the munk a brow raised. Chang could see he was confused at his words. "This.... this is what they love and they are willing to protect it with their lives if they have to" He said gesturing around them at the trees and bushes and even the wildlife around them.
"They are like me then?.... a guardian of the forest" He said and his friend nodded. "But you still must not get involved with them.... they may seem like friends and may even count you as such but they have relations with the rest of the world. Some of that world hates them enough to punish not only them but those who call them their friends." The monk added and Ryung looked to the elves that his friend referred to. "They have people that hate them?.... they are such beautiful creatures though.... how could anyone hate an elf?"
The monk smirked and nodded in agreement. " Envy is a sin that the mortals know all to well my friend." He answered and Ryung looked to him again and then back to the elves. "Envy?..."
"Yes envy.... you see just like you, elves have long lasting life and some like humans get rather jealous of that.." He said and Ryung nodded. He watched them some more and despite his friends advice he still wanted to go down their and meet these people. His eyes trained upon the pink haired elf who rode upon her steed. She weared a different colored armor which either meant her rank was higher or she was special. The monk placed a hand upon Ryung's shoulder and tugged. " We should get going before we are spotted...." He turned and as he did so what emerged from behind were five elves all aiming their bows at him and Ryung. Ryung turned and stood up to look at them and he instantly froze not expecting the things he was watching to sneak up on him. They were silent on their approach and gave him little warning.
"What is your business in these woods?" One of the elves asked and Ryung remained silent but the monk did not. "I could say the same for you... me and my friend have lived in this forest for the most of out lives. We were just curious as to who was moving through it." He said. The elf looked at Chang and then back at Ryung and then back to Chang. "Who are you?...." He asked next and Ryung snapped out of his state of shock and stepped forward. " I am a Gumiho, A guardian of this forest, my name is Wol Ryung and this is a monk who has been looking after me for what would seem like ages. His name his Chang Jo" He answered. That answer was something the elves did not expect. They lowered their bows and looked to each other mumbling amongst them selves. They seemed surprised at his answer . The leader, or the one who asked all the questions, looked back at Ryung with his eyes tracing him. "You look like a mere human though.... prove it that your a Gumiho... a guardian of the forest...." The elf said. The man then pointed to a small bush not yet full grown. "Make that grow....." The elf challenged him. Ryung looked to it and then back at the elf and nodded. What he did was kept his eyes on the elf but focused his powers upon the bush and suddenly blue orbs seemed to appear and float circling around them and then they moved towards the tree and emerged with it and just like that it began to grow rapidly. The elves once more began to look to each other and mumble. The lead elf lowered his own bow and then bowed. "I apologize but we must take these precautions for the safety of our lady." He responded and Ryung turned his head to spot the wagon and figured the one inside was the one they were worried about. He then turned to face them and returned the man's nod and bow. "You had every right to take these steps. I wish you good luck on your travels"
The monk was right they did see him as an ally but he had gotten involved with them now. Which meant he had failed to follow his friends advice. He only wished these elves would not pay the price for it. Then something seemed to startle the elves and they moved to look to their patrol and then it happened. People rushed out of the other side of the forest. They looked like humans and they began attacking the elves. The five with them moved to aid their friends fighting the humans the best they could. The humans were in odd attire almost like the samurai and were very skilled in combat. The elves killed a few but the men killed a few elves as well. Things were looking bad for his new found friends. He wanted to help but he could not. He had to hold onto his friend's wish. But... he was already involved so it is already too late. He then made up his mind and looked to Chang and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry..." He said and suddenly vines grew from the dirt and began to wrap around the monk holding him there. He turned to face the battle and his eyes changed as well as his hair. It went from a dark black to a grey color. His eyes went from a hazel color to cat like green color. His nails grew longer and sharp. He took on his true form of a Gumiho. Once his transformation was complete he moved in to join the fight. He fought along side the elves who were taken aback by his assistance but they did not complain much. Nova was among those warriors creating a perimeter around the wagon but the men were clever. As the warriors fought on suddenly more samurai emerged from the tree line only this time they were armed with bows and they aimed them and fired killing several elves with one volley. The elves now had to work extra harder causing Nova to exert herself by using her spells to cleave the samurai she faced in half. It was all she could do from keeping herself from dying. Then there was this one samurai who came for who watched. He saw her elite elves fighting and then he saw the Gumiho. His eyes widened as he saw him. The Gumiho was cutting his men open quick and shortening his numbers. The archers fired another volley and he watched as the arrows nailed the rest of the elves several of the arrows even shot through the wagon killing the woman inside. Wol Ryung stopped suddenly and turned to face the one remaining elf who looked as if she would not be remaining for much longer. He moved to her but before he could he was intercepted and thrown to the ground by several samurai. He could easily overpower them but as he looked up he saw the long stainless steel blade of a katana by Nova's neck. She laid there with three arrows in her. Two in her left shoulder and one in her left side barely missing her kidney. The pain must have been overwhelming for her. He wanted to help her but he couldn't. He looked up and saw the samurai who had placed his blade near her neck. "If you want to save her you will surrender...." The man said. He must be the one in charge of this attack. Wol Ryung wanted nothing more to break free and kill him but the man had held the elf woman as leverage.
It did not take long for the two of them to be placed in bonds and he even changed back to his more human like form. They were tied together and at least the elf woman had the arrows pulled out of her but he could tell from the way she was staggering that she was in immense pain. What he noticed now though was that they were coming upon a village. His life of freedom was over. Now he was captured and thrown into the world of man. But at least he had company. The samurai marched them through the village and the people looked on with some curiosity. He had a feeling they were more curious about him then the elf woman. As if they knew this band of men were going to ambush the elves and possibly take hostages. So why was there another human with the elf. Thats the question they were thinking. He looked about and he grew a hatred for these people. He suddenly began to change once more causing everyone to gasp. But something different was happening which even startled the samurai. Wind picked up swirling around throwing pots from the market stands up and back down to smash. It dislodged the leather coverings from the tents and even caused the people to brace and look away from Wol Ryung and then the blue orbs appeared again moving violently. At first people were afraid that the orbs were wil-o wisps and looked away and then suddenly everything stopped. The objects that flew in the air came crashing back down the orbs vanished but so did their captive. The samurai looked about seeing as if maybe he had hid in the confusion. "Forget him... take the elf to a cell and put her there.. and summon a healer from the church we want her healthy so we can interrogate her" He ordered and the men moved forward to carry on his order.
