Ireland—some call it the Emerald Isle for her cyan earth. Mountains stretch across the lands, eerie, white tipped claws stretching for the gray sky. The sun peeks out only for a while and then hides back behind the clouds.
Her people are as hardy as the green nation herself. Most people from Ireland are friendly drinkers, red haired and freckle faced, as most people want to think. Though we are pale due to the fact that the sun hardly touches our faces, the image of a red haired, freckly, green eyed man swinging around a tankard filled with Irish ale is… overrated.
Ah, never mind… back to the scenery. The animals! Ah, yes, the animals. In the forests, in the fields, you can see the shadow of a circling hawk, hear the scuttling of a mouse’s paw steps, and listen to the hoot of an owl. You must also watch for the prowling wolves and mountain lions that would want nothing more than to sink their fangs into your neck.
… Oh… One more thing.
Watch out for the birds of prey.
No, no, not the hawks or owls or eagles… but the actual birds of prey. The deadly ones. They come to the city at times to gather supplies like steel ores and lumber, but they hardly glance at us, and we hardly see their faces. They are cold, hardened young men and women that are said to protect nearby cities. Some actually carve their insignia onto their wooden doors, and yet, as foolish as that might look, thieves and bandits rarely come knocking on their door.
The guards state that they’re spawn from hell. Their men want nothing more than to drink Ireland’s supplies of gin and ale and tonic, want nothing more than to take young daughters away to their holes and fondle them. The women are just as bad; they sleep with men, both free and married, and slit their throats in the morning, stealing away into the mists with the poor fool’s fortune on their back.
Some call them birds of prey. Others call them heroes. Bandits, thieves, rapists, molesters…
About the Creed
The Irish Brotherhood of Assassins, the Irish Brotherhood, the Irish Assassins, the Irish Creed… there are many names to call the Brotherhood that lives in Ireland. The Brotherhood is a closely knit, yet somewhat dysfunctional, family that consists of young men and women. They serve Ireland’s countryside—they aid families attacked by ruffians and perform small duties for their people. They also have a long standing war against the Templars, a mercenary group wanting nothing more than to control the world using the Pieces of Eden.
The Three Tenants of the Creed
The Creed mainly emphasized three simple moral tenets that focused on ensuring a successful mission, mastery of emotions, and the safety of the Brotherhood.
1. Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent. The goal of the Assassins was to ensure peace in all things. The Assassins believed that political assassinations and the death of the corrupt would bring peace and a true sense of security to the common people. Slaying innocents and civilian bystanders who did not need to die could spread strife and discord, in addition to ruining the name of the Assassin Order itself.
2. Hide in plain sight. Be unseen. The Assassins' aim was to get close to their target stealthily, and escape just as quickly. In more ancient times, Assassins aimed to perform ostentatious, awe-inspiring assassinations, usually in public. The greatest illusion from such an assassination was that the Assassin seemingly materialized from nowhere, killed a corrupt public figure, and vanished into the depths of the crowd or environment. If an Assassin was spotted stalking their target, the supernatural effect would be diluted, and it became more difficult for the Assassin to reach his target.
3. Never compromise the Brotherhood. The actions of one must never bring harm to all. If an Assassin failed in his or her duty, and was captured or chased, he or she must never commit any action or say anything that could be tied back to the Brotherhood, or bring harm to any member of it.
The Three Ironies of the Creed
"Do we bend the rules in service to a greater good? And if we do, what does it say of us?"
―Alta´r's Codex, page 4.
The three great ironies are observations that described the contradictions between the Creed, and the actions of the Assassins who followed it. They are:
1. The Assassins seek to promote peace, but commit murder.
2. The Assassins seek to open the minds of men, but require obedience to rules.
3. The Assassins seek to reveal the danger of blind faith, yet practice it themselves.
Though seemingly hypocritical, the ironies did not undermine the Assassins' cause. Rather, they demonstrated the way in which they embraced contradiction, "that one may be two things – opposite in every way – simultaneously."
The Maxim of the Creed
"Nothing is true; everything is permitted" was the Creed's maxim and primary guideline. The phrase was created during the 11th century by Hassan-i Sabbāh, the first recorded leader of the Assassin Order.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze once spoke of the maxim at length with Sofia Sartor, who found it rather cynical. However, he told her that the maxim was not a doctrine to be followed, but merely an observation of the world.
In detail, he explained that "To say that nothing is true, is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say that everything is permitted, is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic."
This maxim was spoken by all Assassins present at every new Assassin's induction into the Order.
Penalties for Disobedience
Violation of the Three Tenants: The violation of the three tenants of the Creed results in execution, with no exceptions.
Any Other Violations: Other, minor violations (such as disrespect, carrying out orders in the wrong manner, etc.) leads to floggings, incarceration, stripping of an Assassin’s rank, or at most, exemption from the Brotherhood itself (if the Assassin has violated multiple times).
Induction of New Assassins
”Laa shay’a waqi’un moutlaq bale kouloun moumkine—Nothing is true, everything is permitted. The wisdom of our Creed is revealed through these words.”
The initiation of an Assassin, who has successfully completed training, into the Assassin Order is a ceremonial tradition upheld over the many years of its existence. It is a rite of passage symbolizing when an Assassin apprentice becomes a full member of the Order, and vows to commit their life to safeguarding the freedom of humanity.
The Pieces of Eden
The Pieces of Eden were technologically advanced pieces of equipment created by the First Civilization for various purposes. Each possessed unique properties suited to the purposes for which it was designed; with some capable of bending the thoughts of one or more individuals to the will of the user. The usage of these Pieces are extremely taboo to Assassins, unless there is no other way. All PoEs are hidden throughout the world, with the Templars hunting them down in order to “make a new world”… with them at the head.
Masters. The alphas of the Creed. There are three masters at the head of every Creed—First Master, Second Master, and Third Master. The First Master is the complete ruler over the Brotherhood; whatever they say, better go. They approve attack plans and deal out punishment. The Second Master is second in command. They have a very similar role to the First Master, but they usually head attacking/defending patrols. The Third Master has the minor role, with simply reinforcing the rules of the Brotherhood and arranging patrols. They are the only ones who have double hidden blades. They are also extremely powerful and are said to be the slightly older members of the Creed, usually in their late twenties to early thirties. Each Master has a Successor—when a Master dies, the Successor takes their place.
Assassins. The face of the Creed. Assassins are the fighters of the Creed, and the direct offensive force. They serve the Creed thoroughly and efficiently. Assassins also carry out most of the assassination missions and are told to understand the victim. To prove that they have done a job well, they carry feathers around and wipe the blood of the assassinated with the plumage. They then return the bloodied feather to the Masters. They only have one hidden blade.
Apprentices. The fledglings. Apprentices are said to be foolish and rowdy. They are currently being trained by Assassins. However, they usually don’t patrol without their Mentors, and perform small duties. They scrub floors, wash robes, find supplies, clean the horse stalls, and other chores, alongside training in combat. Only senior apprentices are allowed to go on missions. They have no hidden blade, and wear a gray hood to symbolize their rank. They get branded on their left ring finger when they become full Assassins.
Tending to the Pregnant/Sick/Wounded/Elderly
Just as the disabled Assassins have served their Creed, the Creed will serve the disabled Assassins. All members of the Brotherhood have to care for the weak. This is why the disabled eat first at meals, and the healthy and able eat last.
Romance in the Creed
Romance in the Creed is considered taboo by senior Assassins, but it is a daily occurrence. Assassins are not supposed to fall in love with anyone because it opens up a way to horribly wound them in an indirect and easy manner. Though, Assassins find a way if certain… urges drive them. However, there are certain pairings that are considered unethical: Masters are expected not to have a relationship, period; Mentors and Apprentices; and Mentors with Mentors.
Of course, these rules are broken daily.
One relationship that can be punished by execution is the union of an Assassin and a common person or Templar.
The setting is 1601, in countryside and Northern Ireland, close to the ocean. The Brotherhood is located in the shadow of the mountains. They live in small, manmade dirt caves that are underground. Some may say this is a hazard—but the Assassins found a way to keep the dirt from falling on them in their sleep. They have barracks, a small library, and a second floor where the Masters sleep in separate little caves. Though the territory of the Assassins sounds rather large, the caves are small and comfy. But some may say they are suffocating at times, especially when tensions in the Creed run rampant. There is a forest nearby along with rolling fields.

Username: Silver Fox
Name: Fianna Aedan (goes by Aedan mostly. Few know her first name)
Position: First Master
Appearance: . Out of Assassin's clothes. Stands around 6'4
Wears the regular Assassin's clothes mostly but a dark green coloring
Personality: A silent strong noble figure, she goes by the creed to the fullest and sets to put the rest of tue Assassins in the right path. Often wise and mysterious, she understands some of the Templars ways. Yet will fight without any mercy to her enemy. She does not kill the innocent, and she can be a bit harsh in her training. Still, she is kind at heart but often she does not involve others in her missions. Can be a bit hot headed sometimes. Often she is seen as a man instead of a woman other than she is in disguise, and she does not correct if she is refered as either.
History: Fianna was born into the Creed as the daughter of the Third Master. Although women were accepted into the Creed, she worked harder than the other children to prove to her fellow brothers and her father that she would grow into a great Assassin. At the age of fourteen, her mother and father were found and executed by the Templars. Swearing revenge, she plotted to take a few of their own for the lives they took from her. Three years later, she went on her own mission without her Masters consent to a Templar home. Hitting the Templar that caused her family's death. She slayed everyone in his family, his wife, his son, and even his daughter... and eventuay him. After though, she saw the blood she caused.. and realized her mistake. She returned to the Creed and admitted her mistake. Her Masters punished her and she continue on her duties. Swearing to not think on raw emotions again.
Other: Doesnt have aby interest in men
Name: Garrett "Blackstrike"
Position: Second Master
Appearance: Need something?
Personality: Garrett is one of those "cocky serious" people. A deep, passionate man, he is obviously known for courting women in the Creed, kissing their necks and collarbones in shadowed corners of their home. When not fooling around and bedding women, he's a proud man, with a very booming voice as he speaks to the Creed. He doesn't let anyone hurt his brothers and sisters, and is known for defending his Brotherhood half to death. Thus, he earns many wounds.
History: Garrett appeared on the doorstep of the Creed on a cold, rainy winter morning. Shivering and soaked to the bone, six year old Garrett was taken into the Brotherhood to be trained as an assassin. Well, first he had to read many, many books on assassin history, and train with other apprentices in informal sessions until he was in his teens. No one what to call him except for Garrett as he trained, and when he became a full assassin, he was given a surname. His name was edited to Garrett Blackstrike in the books, due to his powerful and fatal blows with his warhammer. Ambitious, Garrett blazed up the ranks, becoming Second Master at age twenty seven.
Name: Cian Wilson
Position: Third Master
Appearance: Thin build, about 5' 11". Square, protruding jaw and tall, thin head, covered in medium-length hair of an dark orange/light brown colour and a short beard of the same colour. Large, bright green eyes draw most of the attention. Wears a raggedy, used white assassin robe with green and brown accents, as well as a plume of white/brown feathers and a long dagger on the belt. Carries a brown quiver and a longbow on his back.
Personality: While Cian loves to have fun and joke around with his fellow Assassins, he is most notable when he is hunting or following a target. He becomes very serious, solemn, and intolerant of any kind of mistake, misfire, or prank. These two clashing personalities make him both a good friend, and a good enemy.
History: Growing up very far inland, Cian spent much of his time in the woods. He was the eldest child, raised on a small farm which barely fed him, his parents, and his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Because of this, Cian spent a large amount of his time in the woods with his father, training his nerves and collecting pelts to sell in the village. Hunting came naturally to him and he was very skilled and agile with a bow and arrow, leaping between fallen trees and over streams of water to chase his prey. When his talent became apparent, his father revealed an allegiance to the order of Assassins, dating hundreds of years back through their family to England. This allegiance motivated Cian to train himself further, pushing his body and mind to be the best he could possibly be at hunting. At the age of 17, he became apprenticed to his father, learning the values that the Assassins honour so greatly. At 18, he was given his father's old robes, and left the family farm to live with the Order. For the first few years, he was very quiet and kept to just hunting in the woods nearby and keeping with the older Assassins, who showed him how to kill gracefully. His ability with a bow allowed him to advance steadily through his years as an Assassin and he soon became a Third Master, giving him the opportunity to train others who showed promise.
Other: This is gonna be fun!
Name: Kait Reid
Appearance: However, with straight hair.
Personality: Kait is a strange young woman. Being a mere five foot lady, she drinks and brawls as much as a man. Some say that she's been born into the wrong body, others say that she's just the way she is. Very saucy and sassy, she thinks she's the best assassin that ever graced someone with her presence. It's actually rather funny, being so short and loud and... Drunk. Either way, she's thin and lithe, and a "master" archer. She's brutal with assassinating missions and isn't kind toward victims. She doesn't protect people without a single coin. With the Creed, she's very loyal and strong minded
History: Kait was born to a mercenary and a innkeeper. Surprisingly, her father kept her and took her away after her mother denounced her as her daughter. He fed her through a sugartit, and kept her close at all times. As soon as she was old enough, her father gave her her first bow when she was ten. It was black as night and tipped with spotted owl feathers. However, her father passed away when she was thirteen. Kait was tossed into the streets, and she lived off scraps until she learned how to steal and forage. Kait learned how to become one with the shadows after two years. She found the Brotherhood soon after. Since then, she's become an able assassin.
Name: Abraham O'Carin
Allegiance: The Assassins
Personality: Like any assassin he has the ability to be a silent deadly killer, someone with no remorse for what he needs to do. Yet Abraham also has a rowdy side, he's likely to sling back a few with some brothers and have a good time. In public he can be seen as a slightly imposing silent figure (5'10"), but when relaxing in the caves
History: He was born into the creed with both parents as assassins and worked his ass off to become a great assassin. His training has been complete, but he has felt no need to work his way any higher on the ladder. The masters value his opinion and give him some of the more difficult tasks when needed. He is an assassin effective and deadly in combat having completed countless missions for the brotherhood he has even brought in a fewnew members.
Username: Silver Fox
Name: Shara Ukin
Out of regular plain white Assassin's cloak. Stands around 5'0

She has a high adoration for Master Aedan, often doing whatever he likes. Sometimes can be a bit playful to her fellow brothers and flirts occasionally. Absolutely despises Templars and doesn't really mind taking out one or two. Often cooks and cleans when not doing Assassin missions.
History: Shara grew up in a small village under Templar rule. Her parents were accused of treason and executed at the age of eight. Having to try to find a way to survive, she grew up and worked at a whore house. Pleasing whomever wanted her an serving however she could. Often customers were the Templars, whom she hated since her parents. Tired of working and pleasing them but having no where else to go, she had hoped to find some other place to go. One day, a drunk man took things a little far, including beating her to which a tall figure knocked him out. Clad in a dark green cloak, the tall figure took her away and offered her a place to call home. The Assassins. The ones those who call murderers and heroes. Thankful for the help, she joined them as a apprentice. She still has a lot to learn, but she is helpful when it comes to seducing men.
Other: Loves animals and sweets.
The Templar Order
Name: Joshua Cavalier.
Position: Templar Captain as well as a commander of the local English garrison.
Personality: Joshua is a reserved individual and hides his true emotions behind a mask but he in contrast to his usual reserved self is quick to anger. He may be reserved emotionally but he has a commanding presence when commanding men. Contrary to what the brotherhood attempt to portray the Templar's as Joshua is a caring man, the locals see him and his garrison as being harsh but fair.
History: Born to a minor but wealthy English Templar noble, Joshua spent the early years of his life on or around his father's estate with his two sisters.. He was raised to believe in the Templar ideas of order and control and to put the Templar order first. When he was young he never questioned this but as he got older he started having second thoughts. He always had a desire to do his family proud, and was trained by his father in the ways of war and movement, he can keep up with even the best Assassins while freerunning.
Once he had finished his education with encouragement from family he joined the army. He has fought against the Spanish in the Netherlands, as well as the Irish during the nine years war, he is a veteran and an expert fighter. However recently he has started questioning his Templar beliefs, he still believes in order and see the Assassins as representing chaos but he is torn between serving the Templars and his country. He has recently promoted to captain for his work against the Assassins in the Spanish Netherlands.
Other: Stands at around 6'3.
Name: Liam Haggerty
Position: Templar Guard
Liam stands at just above 6 feet, wearing a dark-brown robe with a cowl. A dark-blue vest and brown trousers are worn, as well as a pair of light boots.
Personality: Liam is a loud, brash young man who is extremely passionate about his beliefs and ideals. Loving to pick fights, he is a heavy drinker and extreme womanizer. He enjoys hanging with a crew of his Templar associates, young men in their prime as well, and acts as their leader. Liam tells jokes often, and will hardly take any situation seriously. However, he holds the Templar beliefs to heart, and will give his life in order for their plans to be met. He does not necessarily hate Assassins, and will team-up with them if it is in their mutual interest. That being said, he does not mind killing them, and he is a skilled fighter on par with many more experienced members.
History: Born as the first son of an influential Templar businessman, Liam was introduced to the order very early in life. Living in the crowded city of Dublin, Liam was taught the skills of movement and evasion from the moment he could run, taught to scale walls, sprint across huge distances, and maneuver his way atop the tightly build buildings. With power and wealth, his father arranged Liam to become an important member of the Templar Order, securing deals and alliances with senior members in exchange for training and positions for Liam.
At age 10, Liam began training in combat along with movement. First, he was taught to ways of the sword, how to parry blows and deal quick strikes. As he trained with this, it became apparent he was quick and agile enough to defeat more experienced members in duels. Even as he grew, his movements were fast enough to compensate for his steadily growing body. At 16, Liam was formally inducted into the Templar order, awarded a sword crafted by a master smith and robes tailored with armor underneath. Given small assignments, he was most accustomed to surveillance and information-gathering as his skills at running were phenomenal.
Other: Skilled fighter and free-runner, extreme womanizer.
Name: Nero Maluginesis
Position: Templar Guard
Allegiance: Templar Order
Appearance: I have horrible hair. Gets like that when I wear my helmet...
Personality: Nero is a quiet young man, shy and inquisitive. He often doesn't speak and is nervous about taking up arms. However, he has urges with women like any other men, though he is bashful and embarrassed by it. He hates the Brotherhood, and when you get him pissed off, he gets pissed off. Sure, Nero is shy, but over his shy exterior he wears a mask of grouchy and bitterness. He eats by himself, and sleeps away from the rest when it comes time to rest. Maybe if someone opens up to him, they'll see he's just really one of the guys?
History: Unlike most of the Order, Nero was born in Rome. His father was a Templar himself, thus he had to move everywhere. Nero was sad that he had to leave his friends behind, especially when he was but twelve. However, his love of scenery and different cultures sprang up in him as he traveled. He saw France, Spain, Italy, and then it came time to move to Germany. It was there that his father was killed when he was fifteen. Left alone without a mother, Nero entered the Order himself, and they appointed him to the Irish branch. At first, he was nervous. Nero had never been to a place like that. He was afraid that he would be bullied around, but it was quite the opposite when he arrived in Ireland. They left him to his own deeds, as long as he patrolled and did his work.
Name: Sophia "Temptation" Belmont
Allegiance: Templars (New to Ireland, no one knows her affiliation)
Minus the whole shotgun, replace with something more period
Personality: No one truly knows her, some say she doesn't even know herself since she's been putting on a false face her entire life. Her personality changes based on what she thinks will get her what she wants. (We'll just have to see how this plays out.)
History: Her mother was British and her father Irish. They met in _____ (Templar controlled territory) while her father was doing business. The Templars had wanted her father dead for some reason she never knew, she never felt the need to find out. Her mother had seduced him to extract information, yet after she had killed him she was so impressed by him that she kept the child instead of taking the herbs to kill it. Thus Sophia had been born.
The Templars raised her in her mother's image. Over the years she became a fearsome killer, no one looks at a pretty young girl as an assassin.
As she became a woman the Templars began to use her new skills to gain information they need. Whether she needs to trick a man into letting his guard down, or convince a woman she's a friend her personality changes on a whim.
The Templars have sent her to Ireland to deal with a "small" problem they're having.
