: Malakaus Vorinclex
Malakaus is a big believer in that anything is possible. He also believes that anything can be solved if you throw enough money at it, which combined, mean that anything with possible if you have the right amount of money for it. He can be oddly sociable for an orc, and while many will fear him, he can easily be your friend as well. He has a sense of justice in that he wishes to protect the weak and serve the greater good, but part he knows very well that sometimes to do so, he must work outside the law. In battle Malakaus keeps a cool head and little to no hesitation; if he's in a fight than that already means that someone must die. He won't give mercy and he won't fight fairly, because the only one who's right is the only ones who are left.
Malakaus is the son of an orc who lived in Narzulbur. Malakaus's father knew that it would be dangerous for him to live in Narzulbur due to the Code of Malacath declaring that only the orc Chief may have children. Thus, Malakaus's father had to flee Narzulbur, and headed towards Windhelm... At least, that was the original idea. Instead, due to a horrible sense of direction, Malakaus's father ended up in Winterhold; by this point, Malakaus was a young child, but her father had grown very ill to bring his son here. He died in Winterhold, leaving the young orc orphaned and left to give his father a rudimentary funeral. Life in Winterhold was difficult to say the least. Many of the residence ignored him, forcing him to resort to burglary and pickpocketing to get by. It was difficult to find those willing to trade with him at first, aside from the khajiit caravans, but eventually Malakaus was able to smooth talk the townspeople into buying some of his fenced goods. When he was still a young boy, Malakaus managed to get enough money to buy some books. He always had an interest in reading, specifically when he heard who ran the College's Archanum; it was Urag gro-Shub, an orc. He used nearly all his gold to buy books and spell tomes, to learn from them. When he was about ten years old, Malakaus tried to enter the College of Winterhold. He failed. But he tried again and again, and after three years, he was allowed to study there.
It was difficult being but a mere child at the college. Many of the students and teachers were already adults, and not all had the patience to teach children. But Malakaus was not alone; he met this breton girl at the college. She had been there longer than he had, but he was a few years older. At first she did not like him, calling him names and insulting him, thinking that he was too dumb to be a real mage. But one day he spotted her trying to steal something from one of the initiates, but she was very bad at it. Malakaus than used to opportunity to show her how it was done, and stole the object. When she went to try to steal it herself, she'd find that it was missing, and Malakaus showed her that he had took it before her. She was angry at first, but than became scared that he would rat her out to the college. But he had no intentions of doing so, and instead offered to form an alliance. An alliance that eventually became a friendship. The two helped each other in many things; from his own magic studies to her thievery.
Malakaus never really needed to rely on stealing though, as he usually did jobs for the college. He studied as an apprentice Enchanter, usually going out to retrieve and fill soul gems. As he got older however, he began to enchanting his own gear, and made quite a pretty penny doing so. He began to join excavations into old ruins and bringing back loot, not to sell, but to remove their enchantments, and before long he had amassed not only a large collection of enchantment abilities, but also became a master Enchanter himself. To survive his excavations out, he also took up Alteration magic, to illuminate dark caves and to put on magical armor. He also picked up some restoration magic, though only a few classes worth.
Unfortunately, after many years at the college Malakaus's education was cut short one day when he was helping his breton friend with a particularly risky heist. they were to steal some sort of ancient and powerful artifact, one that was so secretive that anyone who so much as knew about it were to be killed. And they both got caught. Knowing very well that they could not stand against the mages who confronted them, Malakaus and his friend had to flee, not just the college, but Winterhold itself. They traveled south, braving the wind and the wild until they reached the Nightingale Inn. While they had fun together, Malakaus thought that now they would have to separate. He knew that his friend was going to the Reach; to support the Forsworn. He was sympathetic to their cause, but he himself did not want to support it personally. In actuality, he wanted to return to the stronghold his father came from: Narzulbur. He wanted to try to return to his roots, live his life among his people. After a night at the Nightingale Inn, the two had a fond farewell, and went their separate ways.
Though the war and the threats on the road made live difficult for him, Malakaus eventually made it to Narzulbur. He was accepted among his orc-kins with open arms, and they were more than glad to know that he was willing to work for his place among them. They gave him a pickaxe and told him that he could mine for them, and if he did well, they may even teach him how to work the metals. And those metals? Ebony. He spent a few years in the Stronghold, and quickly picked up the art of Smithing like a prodigy. He only spent three years there before he was a master smith. But he had to leave, when his mother recognized him. She was the Wise Woman, who knew who his father was. She gave him a warning that Malakaus must leave and never come back, least the wrath of Malacath put an end to him. He was hesitant to do so, but eventually he left, and fled south.
South through the marshes, Malakaus eventually arrived into Riften, with nothing to his name and only the clothes on his back. He was poor, injured, and unsure of his place in the world. No stronghold would take him if they knew of his origins. No one trusted mages. What was his skills as a thief to the people? It would seem that he would have to take up a beggars life... If he wasn't recruited by the Thieves Guild. One of their spotters saw the skills he had, and he proved to be able to hold his own as a thief. While orcs weren't well known to be the stealthy type, he was able to prove his worth and he stuck around. In the guild he was able to make money and bring his life back around, from rags to riches. Life was good. At least until he was given a job to Markarth.
It was a simple job. Steal everything in Markarth that wasn't nailed down. It wasn't knew, and it wasn't even hard. But when Malakaus went to Markarth, one thing happened after another, and he ended up getting caught in a trap meant for the Forsworn. The nords thought he was with them, and they were about to execute him along with the others when, instead, he and the other survivors were sent to Cidhna Mine.
Civil War Allegiance
- Enchanting: A master enchanter, Malakaus can put two effects on anything that isn't already enchanted, and many of his Enchantments are powerful enough to rival even daedric artifacts.
- Smithing: In equal ability as his Enchanting, Malakaus is a high-level smith, capable of creating anything short of Dragonbone weapons (if only because he never had the opportunity to work with Dragonbone), and can even make a simple steel sword powerful enough to cut through even ebony armor he made himself.
- Alteration: An expert Alteration mage, Malakaus has grown resistant to 30% of magical effects from his foes, and can make even a spell like stoneflesh turn him from a orc in rags to a orc in armor, sans any armor.
- Pickpocketing: A skill that Malakaus has honed over years of necessity, he could steal any sort of small object that could fit between his fingers; gold, keys, gems, jewelry, if it's in your pockets, it'll soon end up in Malakaus hands.
- Restoration: Only a minor skill that he picked up to patch himself up after a particularly hard fight. He usually just uses some minor healing abilities and wards.
: Chaotic Neutral - He does whatever he must to do what he has to. If he needs to work with the law to bring down his enemy, so be it, but he won't hesitate if his enemy is the law either. He's willing to shake down a man for his money, talk him into giving it to him, or simply mugging him for it. But he won't stand aside and allow evil to do what it wants, as long as it's not doing it towards anyone he likes.
: Has a bounty in Winterhold for 3000 gold. He also has a useful scar he got on his way to Riften; since he got it, he can hide small things between the folds of his scar, like a lockpick and a ring. He also has a lockpick made of pure ebony, making it nearly unbreakable. His favorite color is light green
