Kar'Ein, the melting pot city. A port city nestled along the center of the Silver Coast, this independent city state is a trade hub as well as stopping point for travelers. To the north were the great forests and mountains of Lucanrai, primarily unsettled wildlands populated by a large number of Varyans and Gæians. The southern roads led to the mercantile towns and villages of the Silver Coast, populated primarily by Humes and rich Ktareens. Further south were the Ahkari Deserts populated by nomadic Humes and Gæians. In the center of the desert is believed to be a huge mountain, surrounded by a lush oasis, this single mountain is believed to be populated by the Adhir. Across to the east are the remnants of the once world-spanning Varis Empire, populated by Ktareens, and their Hume Laborers, while only a fraction of its former size, the Varis Empire still controls a majority of the major cities of the Tellivar continent. Across the seas to the west is the frontier continent of Garda, lightly populated by camps of Gæian explorers and Hume Laborers.
The city of Kar'Ein itself wasn't particularly large, while almost always crowded, most of the city's bustle came from the exorbitant amount of travelers and traders that passed through the city. Almost every street had a sort of inn building for travelers to pay for places to sleep. There were also much money to be made in taverns as well, as the weary traveler always paid a good price for a good drink and gossip. Since the majority of the city's businesses involve to a degree the moving of people and goods, certain business have found themselves flourishing in this city. Businesses like bounty hunters and mercenaries can be found in great abundance here, to the degree that Kar'Ein's military strength is 25% militia and 75% mercenary. The abilities of these various mercenaries varied by price, but most mercenaries and sellswords of Kar'Ein are required to work through a guild house or a mercenary company, where they could ensure the relative reputability of their men. Businesses like circuses and performers also thrived here, as they always brought interesting and new acts for citizens and travelers to witness.
--The Gæia District--
The Gæia district, aptly named for its considerably larger volume of Gæians living in the district. Poorer than most other districts in the city, its buildings were typically only a few stories high, and were of obviously lower quality and more natural materials than the other city districts. More affluent people like rich Ktareens or honest minded Humes generally avoided this part of the city, leaving mostly Varyans and Gæians to populate this area of the city. The Gæia District was however, home to the Wildhart Guildhouse, which served as both a popular tavern and a gathering place for the Wildhart Hunters, the city's premier Gæian Mercenary Company, which prompted the occasional visit from Ktareens in need of mercenaries.
By the bar of the Wildhart Guildhouse sat Faulke Renning, Bounty Hunter and explorer extraordinaire, sipping on a drink of relative potency, paying mild attention to the various conversations going on in the bar. There were rumors of a stark mad adhir, raving about who knows what in some far away land. The Adhir had been roaming around the various bars and taverns, harking to anyone who would listen. Even the other Adhir in the city, as odd as they were, seemed to give this one space. Many speculated that many Adhir went insane a short amount of time before they died, and with the stories Faulke had heard, he didn't find the theory implausible.
Shrugging, he paid the talk around the bar little attention, contenting himself with burying himself in his mug.
