I'm thinking about something a bit daring, my friends, and I want a bit of feedback if you'd be so kind.
You see, I'm looking into things such as Atlas Survival Shelters (etc, but Atlas seems to be the best and most affordable, due to stellar reviews) and one in particular has caught my eye, the 'Home' model. It can fit 8 people in the very comfortable looking bunk beds, where I would claim the bed in the back for my own, being the primary owner. Greedy me! Hehe. It also has a bathroom section, an entertainment area, living room, kitchen, storage under the floor... a lot of stuff preppers like me (although I'm not a true prepper just yet, having no realistic defendable location to prep in) would enjoy.
I'd like to know what your thoughts are on the likelihood of this being a wise purchase, as well as what your thoughts are on me renting out, leasing, and/or co-buying with others in this space. (I.E. having room-mates of some fashion that would pay a probably minimal fee to stay in the shelter with me and/or have a bed reserved for them if some kind of end time happened. With roommates that would pay or co-buyers it would make having fresh water lines, underground well drilling, water filtration devices, and electricity more realistic as well, although I'd be doing it anyway.
Ideally I'd have the shelter in Canada, but if there was more call for it in the US, fellow buyers, and a place to do it there, I'd go to the US. The price of the model I want is between 64.9 thousand and 85.9 thousand. Keep in mind, I'm not trying to advertise, really, and I'm sorry if this kind of is; I just want to know what the general population that may have interest in this kind of thing thinks about it. I don't have the money right now to go for it, of course; it would take time to save up enough, and jeez, it's a lot for me. But I want to do it at some point, really want to, and I want to know if it's a good idea, if other people would be interested enough to make it worthwhile to have a larger model so that if the end times or what have you does roll around, I'd have a teensy tiny community of my own safe and sound with me. + having my own home at a hell of a lot cheaper than most houses! (The outright price of it is around 90k, yes? Don't know what freight and such would be, but I could easily get a small plot of land an hour or two north of here for close to nothing so all in all it's pretty cheap compared to the 140k etc houses in my city.)
There are other shelters I know of with price tags more like 20 thousand, but they seem inferior, and it really wouldn't be quite as 'worth it' as only 1-4 people can be inside if I recall correctly, and they don't have the multiple perks that this does (the size, storage space, and NBC air filtration being only a few). It comes with an escape pod and mud room (foyer) already attached with the lower price but I'd have to furnish it myself, unsure if the higher price comes furnished and with the foyer section though I do know you still get the escape hatch, and they've got a 20-year proven record so far with a 200 year predicted lifespan. So... again, not trying to glorify it or anything. Just things I think could influence whether it's worth it or not. I don't know. I guess that's enough blabbing!
As I said, any input is appreciated greatly.
