The Black Reaper
Chasing Lies (Breaking Bad spinoff)
A dimly lit bar with smoke floating slowly across the ceiling sits a man with a glass of whiskey and golden chain necklace wrapped around his fist. The bartender fills up his glass a second time before turning to the boxy television hanging on the wall behind him. He proceeds to flip through the channels one after another. Brief glimpses of sport channels, soap operas, and news flash across the screen. "Hold up." The man says at the bar. "Turn it back two channels." The bartender nods and does just that. A news anchor appears on the screen. She has long blonde hair and is wearing a red leather jacket over a white blouse. A caption along the bottom of the screen reads, Meth Kingpin Dead. "People can rest a little bit safer now knowing that this man is no longer around. John Corque is on the scene with one of the officers who arrived at the scene. John over to you."
The screen changes to a man in a blue rain jacket with a microphone in hand standing next to an Albuquerque police officer. "Thank you Lisa, now I'm standing here next to Ron Fughford who says he was the first to arrive at the scene. Can you tell me Ron, what does it feel like knowing this man and the others found here are no longer capable of doing harm onto others?" The officer nods his head and looks to the camera, "Well I can tell you that I feel safer, and a bit at ease for my family knowing these men are gone. I am also honored to be the one to put this Heisenberg to rest." "Excuse me, are you saying you are the one who shot Heisenberg?" The reporter ask and the officer nods, "Yes. When we arrived I saw this man taking off to the building behind me and I warned him to put his hands up and freeze but he didn't comply. So I took the shot. He managed to get away but when we entered the building we found him on the ground dead. I was unaware at the time that the man I had shot was this, Heisenberg everyone at the station had been talking about but I'm glad I was the one to take the shot. Now I believe the good lord has made his judgement and put this man where he belongs." The reporter nods, "Well you heard it here first. Channel six news."
The bartender grabs another bottle of whiskey of the shelf and turns, "Would you like another..." But the seat is empty, just an empty glass and a twenty dollar bill.
Behold my return to the guild. I've been gone for a long while now. I'm going through some legal work with my game for the next few weeks at least so it may be awhile before we're ready to start making any money off of it and continue work so until then I figured I'd create something with my spare time, thus Chasing Lies was born...not really it's just a basic idea for now. That being said let's get down to business.
I do not plan to run this like a normal rp, there is no set in place story at this moment that we're going to follow and you won't be playing heroes on a quest. No instead I want to get a team of writers (and hopefully an artist or two) together so we can create something that can build a fan base. We will be coming up with a plot, time frame, and list of original characters to create this series. Before anything truly takes place we're going to experiment with some roles, try to find some good major ones, and a few side ones. Walter White may have been the back bone of Breaking Bad but without characters like Jesse Pinkman and Saul Goodman I don't think the show would have been the same.
So here's what I need:
More people are welcome but the project will not go on without those roles filled. I'll be playing the role of Vince Gilligan where I will do some writing but my overall job is to make sure the pieces fit together. If someone comes up with an awesome character I need to make sure he fits with the rest of the story and he/she doesn't go off too far on their own adventure. Now let me explain why I want a team of writers and artist. I want a team of writers because those six or seven people really carried the Breaking Bad series through all that it did. I want to sort of recreate that team even if we aren't quite so experienced. The artist will basically give a face to the project. We lack the capabilities to make a full on show but what we could do is a picture of a scene followed by the writing or vice versa. Some sort of graphic novel would be nice but that requires a lot of art work and time and I believe it's only reasonable for a hobby type situation to do a few pieces here and there instead of a full on book.
To further explain I want to take this in stages.
Stage One) Find people interested in the project
Stage One Part Two) Find who is going to be the most capable and devoted of those interested and form the team.
Stage Two) Create a concept for this written show. Then come up with characters that fit that concept.
Stage Three) Experiment with the characters, get a feel for how they interact with each other and build up characters people will love.
Stage Four) Create the art. The writing might be what sales the story but the art is what catches the eye in the beginning which makes it equally important.
Stage Five) Take the episodes to a place such a Deviant and build an audience.
Stage Six) (If it ever happens) Attract the proper attention to make money off of the hobby piece, rather it be selling merchandise or partnering with someone to make a youtube show or what not.
If anyone is interested let me know. I have a few weeks free time to put into this but after words I'll be fairly busy. That being said if people are TRULY interested in it and I feel you guys/girls will take this somewhere I'll try to make some tome for this. I hope this isn't just something that comes across the mind and doesn't become anything because the show was a blast.
The Black Reaper
Bump, and going to go ahead and change my siggy lol
The Black Reaper
Just to clarify there is no set story in place yet, you and I will be creating that. We could base it right after Walt dies or in the future, perhaps after Jr. grows up and Pinkman is doing whatever he's doing.
