In my pre-cal class, we have quizzes about every two weeks. The first quiz I passed with an 85. The second I failed with a 62. So for the third I decided to really sit down and study for this. I memorized all the formulas and read over my notes from class, even went to the free math tutoring thing the college does and had a few concepts explained to me in different ways. I took the quiz and felt pretty confident in it. I get the grade back and it's a fucking 65. Apparently most people in the class bombed it too, so the professor decided to let us retake it today. I have to say, despite studying the concepts again it was even harder the second time around. The questions I got involved all those strange functions like sec, csc, and cot, which I didn't even know existed until about a week ago. Not to mention all the weirdness that is derivatives and integrals, and ridiculous trig problems. I've probably failed it even harder this time around. Jesus Christ, math is the only subject I'm an absolute moron in. Luckily, most people in the class seem to be doing about the same, so we'll probably get a curve of some kind.
I just wish math made sense to me. It's like it doesn't even have rules or something. I know they're there, but they always seem to change, or I simply forget them after studying them. Above all else, I wish I didn't have to take pre-cal to get a new media major.
