Every life is made up of meetings and separations. Even those seemingly insignificant ones can effect the course of a life more than anyone can possibly imagine.
Recks was sitting under a small tree in the light rain. The youth was draped in clothes that could barely even be considered rags, and he looked unhealthy, to say the least. He was nothing, if not pathetic looking. Maybe that's why the group of preteens were approaching now.
"Look at this kid!" One of them spoke. "I bet he's the one who stole your mom's bread!"
Recks looked up. He was confused.
"Yeah, I bet! He doesn't have any money! He's obviously the only one who would have stolen it!" Another preteen spoke. The three kids started to form a circle around the spot where Recks was sitting.
Recks blinked. In a way, he was deaf to what they were saying. He had no idea what was going on, and his stomach rumbled with hunger, though none of them even noticed.
"GET UP!" One boy picked up the scruffy child by the collar. "DAMN THIEF!" He shouted, punching Recks back to the ground.
