We will be taking four to five players aside from Aristo and Drake.

"We really aren't sure which nations were part of it and who or what started it but some one-hundred years ago there was a great war that englufed the world. Countless men, women, and children alike parished in a conflict that lasted nearly ten years. Sure, there has been petty conflicts since then but nothing in comparison to the border defining war from so long ago. I ask myself, did anyone really learn from the war or is the world destined to fall back into the old ways? is there another great war that will destroy our world? Great and terrible weapons are always forged in the fires of war and with conflict burned into the very soul of the human race. Let's just say that war will never end until the last human has died off.
I guess the real question is, will that happen sooner or later..."
This nation rp is based around a world similar to our own. Some will rise and others will fall as one thing that binds all men alike, greed and power. Will you become the ruthless tyrant and conquer the world with brute force? Will you choose the diplomatic appraoch and gather your friends for a new world order? Or perhaps the nation that just wants to sit and watch the world turn? The choice is yours.
There are some basic rules that all rp's follow and that we are all used to,
-No fighting in the OOC, take it to PM's or what ever.
-Don't disrespect your fellow rper's, we are here to write a story and enjoy a game.
-Respect the GM's (Aristocrap and TolarianDrake) As we will not be playing actual nations, we will be as impartial as possible and work with players on problems, however if we make a decision and its final, just leave it be and move on.
-An rp about nation building, well there is always going to be a certain amount of dick measuring. It's inevitable and expected as nations in real life do it but there is a difference between realistic balancing and just going overboard. Stay with the technology limits and military numbers and there shouldn't be a problem.
-Technology will progress as time goes on so don't get your panties in a bunch because you cannot start out with heavy tanks and jet fighters.
-Never be afraid to voice ideas. Everything in the RP should be pretty solid but there's always something new that can be done or explored so really if you have ideas, the worst that can happen is the idea is.. rejected is a harsh word but you get the idea.
-Before joining, please be able to post regularly, doesn't have to be daily as we all have lives but two or three IC posts a week (7 days) would be preferable. If something comes up and you have to be away, please tell us, please-o-please let us know so we can prepare for it by either taking limited control of your nation as to allow story progression or putting your nation on a safe mode/limbo until you return. If a player does not post in the IC/OOC at all during a weeks time (7 days) then they will be PM'd. If there is no response within two days, we will unfortunantly have to confiscate your nation to further story progression.
-Lastly, use common sense. If you're about to get upset about something, take a step back and think to yourself, if I were being asked what I am about to ask, is it really a problem? or if you know an action will be questionable, step back and think to yourself, if I were the victim of said action, will it make sense at all? Remember that your actions dont just effect the general story but your fellow players as well, respect your friends here please.
Some very story specific rules are as follows and are here to really push the game forward.
-Seeing as boundries are already set, there will be pre-set NPC nations that will be created in the spots that exist AFTER everyone has chosen thier nation location.So the GM's, Aristo and Drake will control these nations as to balance it out.
-War... War is sometimes the bane of nation rp's as no-one wants thier country to lose. Well some find it fun to do the rebuilding process etc but in general the former comment stands. To fix this, Aristo and/or Drake will determine the outcome of a battle and then the players, if they so choose, can write the actual story behind the battle (the fun part) Now you may be asking, how the hell will they do that, a flip of a coin? who they like better? Neither of the above. You can announce your plans to attack a certain nation (specifc location IN the nation really helps) but the specifics of said attack will be PM'd to the GM's with general idea of troop numbers and the types of vehicles used. Once the Attacker has PM'd, the defender will PM thier defenses (Please be realistic and know there wont always be a fortress and full batallion of soldiers just.. at the location etc.) and then Aristo and/or Drake will select a winner based on numbers, technology and expirience of said troops (troops get better as they win battles or constant training etc)
-This whole GM choosing victors process can be skipped if the two players take it to PM and determine a victor (please PM Aristo and/or Drake with basic details) and automatically get right into the Rping the battles part (once more, the fun part)
-Research requests will be sent via PM to Aristo and/or Drake and will be determined as doable or not with current technology (like suddenly going from bi-planes to gas-turbine jet fighters) and then how long it will take etc. There isn't going to be a pre-set list of research options or anything as that allows for creativity with objects created (within reason of course.)
Below is the world map and the current national boundries. At this point in the world, nations are established and everyone knows of eachother in some way or another. As this rp is a 6-8 game, all unclaimed nations will be NPC's for the world to interact with. It is first come-first serve for nations so claim wisely..

Nation populations are not to exceed 80 million starting out. Please take nation size and geography into consideration when determining numbers. Like red would have a smaller population as it has fewer places that are livable versus green which would support a huge one.-

Technology is comparable to the Interwar-Period through early 1940. While most nations still use biplanes as their principle aircraft, single-seater monowings are not unheard of. As a whole, armored fighting vehicles are akin to tankettes and lighter tanks of WWII; medium tanks are less common and considered the pinnacle of ground-based weaponry. Artillery has not been effectively developed into self-propelled platforms. The primary infantry weapon is the bolt action rifle but submachine guns are starting to become common. Heavy machineguns are still a feared and powerful weapon on the battlefield as well. In this world, there are no navies to speak of and will never play any role other than ferry boats to cross rivers or pontoons to setup temporary bridges.
Military numbers will be as follows, A standard standing army in peacetime is no more than 4% of total population. War time can see anywhere between 10-25%.but this will strain an economy. In that time of dire need, major drafts/conscriptions can be done up to 40-45% of total population but this stalls an economy entirely. Factories are mostly shut down and farms are left unattended..
