Shadow on the Sunward Throne - A Rhimeworld Adventure
It's the Winter Solstice and the last day of the Midwinter Festival, the second largest festival in the Greater Naphilli Empire. The place is Helos 'The City of the Sun', The Seat of Church and State and the hub of the Empire.
As the sun sets and the snow drifts into the streets in soft clumps, Naphilli of all metals trudge through the streets and a group of Northern Daemion Howlers throw insults and snowballs at shivering passerby. A lone Shee stands motionless and nearly naked, It's eyes transfixed on the entryway to a back alley.
A Bronze-skin Naphilli woman steps from the alleyway, a basket of food under her arm and her eyes downcast and her coat pulled tightly around her. Suddenly the temperature seems to drop even further and the scene goes silent. All eyes turn to view the scene as the Naphilli woman's basket falls to the ground and her eyes raise to meet the Shee's.
The woman's eyes glaze over, turning a ghostly white, and a pitiful wail escapes her lips as her knees buckle beneath her. As the wail fades an otherworldly voice flows like honey from her open mouth.
"As the sun sets on the year, a shadow skinned warrior will be born. At his feet the Empire of the Sun shall fall, and with it the god who rises in the east. The hand of the Queen will try to smother him in his cradle and the foot of the church will try to crush him, but he will escape from them through the gate of filth. He will grow strong among the horned tribes of the wilds, He will grow wise among the giants under the earth, and at his word those who bring peace by the sword will fall from their thrones."
As the last words escape her lips, the woman collapses, a burned out husk in a steaming circle of melted snow... The Howlers scatter, disappearing into the alleyways, a woman screams, The Shee smiles and disappears into the Aether.
It's the day before the Summer Solstice and the day before the Feast of the Sun, the largest festival in the Greater Naphilli Empire. The place is Helos 'The City of the Sun', The Seat of Church and State and the hub of the Empire.
The Inns are packed full of pilgrims, and they overflow into the streets. Thankfully for them it's warm enough for them to camp on the streets, which means their are many eyes watching as a contingent of the Queen's Honor Guard knock down the door of a home and storm in...

Also, my notes on the world are here.
And here is the short notes on the
most humanoid in shape, skin in metalic colors. Skin color dictates place in society, gold is church, silver is royalty/nobles etc. Occasionally a gem-skined individual will be born, usually acompinied or preceded by a prophacy. Highly regemented society focused on empire building as well as technlogical and intelectual advancement. Roman-esq society.
Horned Apes, varying in type from capuchin to Gorrilla. Fur colors in shades of red, black, orange and brown depending on tribe. A mix between wild elves and traditional 'greenskin' races (orcs, goblins etc) culturally. Traditionaly value family, tribe, and honor. More magic users than Naphilli, but less advanced understanding of the techniques to control it (in extreme cases this causes "devils," powerfull spirit possesed individuals who hate all life)
Massive subterranian amphibians (toad-like, not frog-like). They are generally like (LoTR) Ogers in appearance, but with needle like teeth and six limbs (two primary legs, two primary arms and a set that switches). They grow over their long lives from small young, that are capable of fine moter control for crafting and the like, into elephant sized elders that are only capable of gross motor skills but are valued for their experience and wisdom. Culturally they are nomadic vegitarians who live primarily off of tree sap drained from roots. They have an art style similar to the traditional native north and central americans, and are naturaly in tune with the earth which gives them an advantage in respect to medicine and agriculture.
Half spirit themselves, the shee culture is mysterious and few have ever encountered a Shee when it was not the Shee's decision. They can take any form they choose, but are almost always thin, milky white imitations of other races. They have the greatest 'gravitas' and can perform certain spells and enchantments without the preperation nececary to other races, and can burn some of there life force to step into the aether and appear elswhere.
