This story begins in 2020, on inauguration day. After winning against the incumbent libertarian candidate, Orion Richards becomes the first hispanic president. He and the democrats rejoice, until the fifth of november the following year, or so they would say. An attack on a corporate buliding was traced to the work of a militia. Ever scince then, the militias of the united states, despite their loyalty, were labelled terrorists. The truth is that it wasn't a militia, it was Richards. Soon, even his own party became shocked at what freedoms they had lost.
Matthew "the Raven" Brenndur had no intentions of submitting. As martial law was declared, and the UN pulling away, he and his comrades braved the storm. With his westpoint training, army ranger trainig, and military contacts, he managed to secede from the dictatorship. He won against the most powerful military on earth, and endured all of its wrath: the nuclear weapons, the heavy weapons, and the mass infantry. Millions died, and Seattle, LA, Las Vegas, and Denver were vaporized The land he freed, the western states and texas, however, were not immune to a tyrants tantrum.
As sanctions and greed of Richards ensued, the entire continent collapsed. The economy ceased to exsist. Anarchy ruled. Communities formed and factions raged for 25 years. The Raven saw this as an opportunity for a fresh start. His army, the "Columbian Rangers," were named after the river that ran through his home state. These Rangers roamed the frontier, offering communities protection, training, trading and autonomy in exchange for cooperation. The last seven years of the chaos marked the begining of what some called the Columbian Alliance. It defended against many factions and new nations, and encompassed thousands of communities, coined "counties" by the Raven. It supported some 43 million people through the toughest times. The world would be getting back to normal, or so everyone thought.
A rare policy in our world; the alliance still restrains its own power, thanks to Chief Ranger Matthew Brenndur. He has no intention of letting his home slip back into totalitarianism. Columbia has to be structured much better before he can let it subsist without fear of tyranny. Enclaves and exclaves continue to be a logistical problem with running the alliance. Worst of all however, is the warring of the parties. The Rangers don't interfere with local politics, but the parties do. The Guilds and Houses, powerful factions promised prosperity and control in exchange for support, push for the redemption of that promise. The Alliance continues to grow, too. It dominates the lands of former Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. New nations divide the region: The Federal Republic of California, The Corporatists of Arizona, The Federation of Dakota, and the Republican Confederation of Texas.
So what is the future of Columbia? Where is it headed? That is for you to decide.

Make an outline for your charcter:
Height: (be realistic on this and the next)
Residence: (within the areas mentioned prior)
Your character is a local leader, high ranking ranger officer, political lobbyist, economic executive or otherwise important in the alliance's politics.
Your character should have unique skills, background, belief system, quirks and personality.
Your character should be one of the following parties, or independent. Take note of the demographics when you pick a party, if statists outnumber minarchists we have a problem:
Minarchists: Advocate individualism, social conservatism, small enterprise and strict limitations on government. Primarily rural and technical workers. Survived the collapse quite well thanks to their skill sets. Following popular in many rural areas, the columbia plateau, the rockies, the snake river valley, alaska, and the north and west fringes of the great basin. Majority conservative christians. Supporters number approx. 15 million.*
Centrists (Theocratic Centrists and Secular Centrists): Advocate peaceful, suburban lifestyles, moderate viewpoints, prosperity, and equality. Primarily service, manufacturing and trade workers. Migrated together in hopes of preserving american lifestyle. Centered almost exclusively in the willamette valley. Religion increased due to desparation for surviving the collapse, but the collapse caused others to loose faith. Because of this, atheists and moderate christians go head to head. Supporters number approx. 5 million.*
Theocratics: Advocate strong, conservative, religious values and free market economy. The party is overwhelmingly associated with mormons. Their lifestyles reflect that of the Houses; agrarian and family based. Followers are almost comletely mormon, and their supporters number approx. 3 million.
Meritocratics (House Meritocratics and Guild Meritocratics): Advocate fiscal responsibility, highly conservative values, and authoritarianism. The majority of their proponents are involved with the Houses and Guilds. The Houses are more family oriented, and advocate more individualist ideals, while the Guilds are more open to collective interests and equality. This is because the Houses are smaller groups that focus on familial work, whilst the Guilds are more like corporations that provide benefits to workers. Houses focus on the collection of resources: mining, agriculture, and utilities, for example. Guilds focus on the urban production of wares: like manufacturing, specialist services, and construction. The Houses are common in rural areas, and the Guilds are common in larger towns, as well as being rather powerful in the willamette valley. Majority christian. Supporters number approx. 1 million.
Statists: Advocate equality, greater government, environmentalism, liberal philosophies, and the greater good. The majority of their followers are workers in higher education, lobby groups, technology, medicine, and tourism. The vast majority are survivors of seattle and other large-city bombings. The majority of their followers are from sizable towns and the willamette valley. The majority of them are atheist or agnostic, with a significant minority of liberal christians. Followers number approx. 1 million.
Capitalists: Advocate fiscal resposibility, moderately conservative values, and corporatism. Nearly all of the remaining advocates are involved with the large corporations of the willamette valley and Utah. The religious background is primarily mormon. Supporters number approx. 500000
You can have your character say whatever, but there will undoubtedly be consequences.Be realistic. I don't care if my scenario is biased towards the right, deal with it: the conservatives will hold more power.
Keep ideological/religious debate out of OOC. Your character is the one who ist an extremist bigot, not you.
Don't godmod. I know this might be hard with politics, but we can dicuss events in OOC. If a large change is made, it has to be from the masses, not one person.
Make your character do stupid, irresponsible stuff once in a while to make it interesting.
