"The Crisis of Air”, an era plagued by the inevitable loss of the prevalent airships. Their source of lift, the remarkable Cloud Fairy Dust, has slowly been depleted over the ages and now the incredible inventions had reached a time of desperation. A race soon spawned to find an alternate source, a means to either harvest a lost replacement for the mystical Cloud Fairy Dust or find a way to increase the Fairy population.
It is not clear as to why the surplus of Cloud Fairies has decline so severely nor how it relates to the Ushtarake of the Ihiko Empire sudden interest in rationing the few supplies of the mystic energy at outrageously high prices, but word is that the Empires have hidden knowledge they are not willing to share with the “common” folk. From that word and the outrages prices, a race has begun to locate a new way to keep the age of ships alive. It is said that Cloud Fairies originated from a common source, an island that wanes and waxing with cycles of the moon, causing it to rise and sink with the waves; making it nearly impossible to locate except in ancient myths and legends.
Even as the natural resource of the Cloud Fairies is dwindling, there is another threat that lurks for the air and sea pirates. Before the shortage of the cloud fairies, piracy dominated and controlled the waters of the Traian and Zarias seas during the reign of Emperor Rahig of the Ihiko Empire. Generations before him and beyond have accepted piracy as a part of life. A booster of the economy, but when the Emperor passed away the empire fell in to a state of civil war due to his succession. Four brothers fought a bitter battle for the throne. The war lasted 5 years before the youngest, Prince Jural emerged the victor after ruthlessly murdering his brothers. When he was crowned Emperor he immediately began his rigid reign, Jural despised Piracy and had found his father weak for relying upon it.
That being said, it was little surprise when the new Emperor made an official decree to outlaw piracy. The price for being found guilty of being a pirate or pirate supporter is now seen as high treason and is punishable to the fullest extent of the law; namely death by hanging.
Rumors have circulated of a Pirate Queen, known simply by the title of The Siren, who holds a map to the fabled Sinking Island. Having heard of this rumor the Emperor has place a price upon the woman and her crew in hopes of bringing the map under his control because as he has assessed; he who owns the map owns the source, he who owns the source owns the ships, he who owns the ships owns the economy and he who owns the economy is the sole power.
What this Rp about:
A&A is a fairly casual roleplay dealing with a near steampunk era mixed with a slight medieval fantasy. The main weapons shall be weapons mostly identified in the 18th century (rapiers, throwing daggers, hand axes, flintlock pistols, muskets and of course magic. Magic however will be closely monitored to help keep the playing field as even as it can be.
Requirements to join this roleplay:
In order to join this rp we, the co-captains of this role play, would like a profile fully filled out with a clipped sample of your role play style in the character you wish to enter this world. This sample must be at least a full paragraph long (4-5 sentences). This style goes along with the requirements to stay in the role play; at least one paragraph post per day or two if you find yourself incredibly busy. We all know that stuff comes up and people gets writers block but to help overcome that feel free to try and just describe your characters thoughts, feelings and reactions to general day to day life. **And to clear up a misunderstanding concerning how magic works in this world, please note that there now a Magic Option in the Profile Skelly. In this role play dual elementalists are EXTREMELY RARE and usually never live that long because of the conflicting or feeding Elements( ie: Water & Fire can literally cause a person madness while having say Nature & Earth will feed each other and burn the person wielding them out very quickly). There are only so many slots available in the profile skelly for a reason and that is to stop the chance of Over Powering characters. Once you are done please PM the profile.
As it stands we are looking for members to join "The Sirens" crew and as indicated later in her back story, The Siren only allows women to board her ship. However she does in very rare cases allow men to join if she feels their case warrants her attention. Not only does this selection fit in with her back story, there is also a more rational explanation; distractions can be deadly.
If you wish to be a Captain we do have one spot open for an Air Ship. This position is first come, first serve. Later on we will accept more Captains, but only if they can gather 4-5 other "pirates" to join as a full crew.
**Fairy Crystal** -
Fairy crystals These crystals are extremely important and often incredibly volatile and should never be near an open flame. It is also good to note that getting the crystal wet deems it negate of magic until it has dried, which is not a very fun process to sit through as the magic in the crystal become chaotic due to the elemental interference.
Earth- Can move and/or summon Dirt and rocks. Can also converse with plants
Air- Wind, can summon and control
Water- Can bend, summon, and control water to shape to your will
Fire- Can summon, and control heat
Nature- This is more animals then plants. Most will have Beastspeak
Shadow- Summoning, Warping and a quick way to Travel
Lightning- Bending light and/or Lightening which is very dangerous and advanced
Blood- It is the key to bind, summoning, and other rituals. More of a Ritualistic skill
All Speaker: Is the ability to absorb and understand another language just by being around others who speak it.
Beastmaster: The ability to imitate abilities possessed by animals. This is not directly related to shape shifting which requires a physical change into the creature. Rather, an animal imitator may gain certain abilities of different animals.
Cat Eyes: The ability to see clearly in different levels of darkness.
Eagle Eyes: The ability to magnify vision to various levels.
Elasticity: The ability to stretch, deform, expand, and contract one's body.
Empathy: The ability to sense emotions in others or share in or control their emotions.
Enchanting: The ability to give inanimate objects a conscious mind
Energy Manipulation: the ability to generate forces such as electricity, light, or nuclear power or to manipulate existing powers such as electricity.
Flash Speed: The ability to move at a higher rate than normal.
Freezing: The ability to reduce temperatures and freeze objects by force of will.
Healing: The ability to heal the wounds of others.
Illusions: The ability to alter the perceptions of others and their surroundings.
Invisibility: The ability to not be seen
Light: The ability to blind people and literally bend sunlight so that it hits the room at multiple angles; or manipulate and use light energy.
Lightning: The ability to create and direct electrical arcs
Matter Manipulation: The ability to control all matter to the individual’s will.
Medium: The ability to view the spirits of the deceased, and converse with them
Mind Control: The ability to manipulate, read, and speak in another's mind.
Oracle: The ability to see future events triggered by a sound, sight, person or place.
Path Seeker: The ability to see others paths by their choices by eye contact.
Phasing: The ability to phase through solid objects at will
Primal Thrall: The ability to draw people's attention, sexually, to the individual.
Pusher: The ability to create barriers made up of energy to protect a person, object, or area from intrusion.
Pyrokinesis: The ability to create and control fire using the power of the mind.
Shadow Shaping: The ability to manipulate the shadows around you at will.
Shadow Stepping: This power allows travel through the Shadow Realm at incredible speed often crossing miles in seconds when a clear destination is in mind. However useful this power is it also comes with a grave warning not to get distracted least you be lead from the Shadow lands to Purgatory.
Shape-Shifting: The ability to fully transform into any animal of the users choosing.
Spatial Shadow Chest: A clear space in the Shadow Land that the user had won and staked out as their own. In this space the user may store certain objects with little fear they will be stolen. (holy items or items that hold light or any other elemental signatures[ie; fire, water, air, earth, ect...] may not be stored here.
Summoning: Ability to summon objects or beings for assistance, be it Elemental beings or Spiritual.
Super Strength: The ability to exert greater than normal physical force.
Technomage: Is the ability to understand technology to the point where you can connect to it and make it do what you wish.
Telekinesis: The ability to move objects with the mind.
Vocal Persuasion: The ability to force others to obey one's spoken commands
