Interactive Short Stories (I guess)
I'm actually into the creepypastas and stories of horror. I had an idea I've wanted to try with roleplayers for a long time.
The rules are simple-ish.
-The Narrator: A situation is setup and designed by a narrator. The narrator acts as an event entity and has an indisputable power over the roleplayers. This means, that all players shouldn't get too attached to their characters because they can be killed off at any time. Only one character every other post may be killed. But if the narrator decides to build the tension, he can kill off that many more charters in one post.
-The Player (PC): The characters have free roam throughout the settings. They can escape or they can rise to the conflict of the occasion.
-The Fun Parts: The most unfortunate part about being a character is that they can be killed randomly. But in death they can provide more hindrance or assistance to the still living from beyond the grave. Once a character dies, they inherit the power of the narrator and can manipulate the situation in a feasible way. They, however, must wait an addition turn to intentionally kill another PC.
-The Turns: The turns of posting always starts with the narrator. The players may post in any order, but are restricted to only one post in between narration posts. If a week has passed without a post from a player, the player instantly dies in whatever grotesque way the Narrator decides freely. However, if the Narrator doesn't post, the most recent dead character takes over. Failing that, any character may rise to the occasion to continue the story or finish it out.
There are things worse than Death: Although a Narrator can kill any character, they can tie in something interesting to make a PC's life a living hell. Although this has no posting requirements, a certain amount of buildup is expected.
On the Subject of NPC's: NPC's of any kind can be manipulated in any feasible way by the Narrator or dead PC's. Let's face it, they aren't really part of the main story any way... Right?
Win or Lose: There's no such thing as winning or losing in this style of roleplay. However, all good things must end sometime. The RP stops when the Narrator has made his point and must type in -Bold Italics Underlined- that this is his or her last post. When this is done, all PC's, living and/or dead, must make their final statements to properly close out the story adding in their own special touches.
If this sounds interesting, please feel free to try this. I'll try to host a game soon as a narrator and will take any recruits.
If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to PM or ask away here.
