"Just five more minutes..."
She moaned, stuffing another pillow over her head. Today was supposed to be the first day of her training with Rob, but Jess couldn't even bring herself to get out of bed. It was currently four in the morning, and they had to be at the gym and ready to get started by five. Rob had been trying to wake her up for the past half hour. Luckily, he has estimated that they would need more time to get ready, since Jess wasn't used to this.
"Don't most fighters get up at dawn for training?" She grumbled against the soft fabric of the sheets. "The sun isn't even up, yet... This is like, pre-dawn or something..." Another loud moan escaped her lips. Obviously, Jess wasn't a morning person, but she knew that she had promised. This training was for her own good. If she didn't find some way to occupy her mind, she knew that she would just end up back in the partying scene with her DJ-ing. Which, of course, would lead to drinking. Again. Although at this point, Jess was almost convinced that she would have a relapse (if you could call being one week without alcohol even being "off the stuff") just from the stress of waking up so early. What was the point of getting up before the birds to train if you were just going to be done by noon? Wouldn't it be better just to sleep in?
Jess sighed and flipped over onto her back, hugging the pillow tightly against her face as her milky brown hair sprawled out around her on the sheets. She was dressed in a slinky purple night gown that was just barely long enough to cover the matching, lace underwear she wore with it. Rob had already done the honors of pulling the covers off of her, revealing her long, petite legs as she laid there so inelegantly. By this point, they had been living together for almost two months. Not that Jess wanted to mooch off of him or anything, but there was something in the air that kept her from going back to her own house, even with her brother gone. She had hardly been away from Rob's side since the incident with Derek, and being alone usually resulted in terrible hallucinations and fitful nightmares. In fact, so much had happened to Jess recently that she found herself screaming herself awake from a nightmare at least one night out of every week, sometimes more. She couldn't tell how or why the nightmares had started... but usually they were about Derek. Sometimes they involved his brother, too. They were awful, but Rob was always there to stroke her hair and tell her everything was okay.
At the same time, Rob and Jess were practically a steady couple, now. They held hands when they walked and kissed and spent their evenings cuddled together watching movies. They grew more and more comfortable around each other by the day, as could be displayed by Jess' current wardrobe. It seemed to Jess that it was rare for either of them to feel uncomfortable around one another. After all, they had completely opened up their pasts to each other. When it came to hardships, they were in it together. That would begin with this training (which took a few weeks for Bryon to get a training schedule set for the both of them), and then continue with Jess' regular check-ups to keep an eye on the nightmares. So far everything seemed normal in that department, so Jess just tried to keep thinking happy thoughts. And for Rob's problems, they had arranged to have dinner with his parents in a couple of days to try and invite his father to the fight face-to-face. If that didn't work, then they were going to have his mother trick him into seeing it. Jess really wanted to repay Rob for all of the problems he had helped her with in just a few months. It would be nice if they could patch things up with his father.
So Rob still earned income from fighting and Jess had started helping pay the bills with the flower shop's income. Sometimes it felt like they were married. Except for today. Right now, all Jess wanted to do was curl up under all of the warm blankets and sleep until noon. Why did this have to be so early? Curling up into a ball, with the pillow still pressed to her face, Jess rolled over to her side so that her back was to Rob.
"Just five more minutes... I promise I'll get up, this time..." She mumbled, incoherently.
