Hi there! Iíll try to keep this as brief as possible. Basically Iím looking for an advanced, active partner who wants to develop a long-term time travel narrative over PM.
My posts average about 1000 words, but I can go down to about 800 if it suits you. I always match my partnerís posts, and Iíd expect the same in return.
I can reply at least once a day. Again, a partner who can respond with the same frequency would be preferable, but I can be flexible. I donít mind if you skip a day or two once in a while, because I probably will at some point, but we all hate to be left hanging.
Iím 22, and I would ask that you be at least 18.
Romance of any kind is great, but Iíd rather not have it as the main focus of the narrative. That doesnít mean characters canít fall in love, but there has to be substance and conflict besides that.
Genre and plot
In the year 2540, the concept of time was no longer perceived as a simple straight lineórather, once humanity stumbled upon time travel, the past, present and future became an entwined, raveled narrative that spanned across millennia.
2540 was also perhaps the most violent year in the history of the Earth. Those who viewed time travel as too dangerous, too risky, opposed the freethinking liberal collective who championed the idea that it should be made readily-available under a strict set of rules. War broke out. The freethinkers were ultimately decimated by their opposition, reduced to a handful of survivors who fled to the most isolated regions of the earth. They became what are now known as Time Crooks.
Knowing that the rest of humanity would never allow them to practice time travel freely, the group became little more than hermits and thieves.
With the last salvaged equipment from the war, they travel into the past and future: stealing art and antiquities, taking lottery numbers and being in the right place at the right time, selling spaceflight technology to undeveloped species and sometimes even fortune telling for money, plain and simple. Sometimes individuals across history, all connected by underground channels that traverse the boundaries of time itself call upon themóThe Time Crooks receive assassination contracts, commissions and practice information brokerage. Obviously, they are extremely reckless and follow a highly existentialist philosophy.
A specific Time Crook has received a contract to kidnap a very particular person from either the past or future, bringing them to a wealthy Ďcollectorí of sorts who lives in the 30th Century. What the crook doesnít know, however, is that the kidnaped stranger is more capable than they assumed, and is soon bartering for their fate with some very tempting possibilities. Whatís worse is that the largest anti time-travel organization in the known universe has caught scent of the crookís trail, and they soon find themselves on the run with some very hot property, on the brink of another full-scale war.
Obviously this idea needs quite a bit of development. One of us would play the time crook, and the other would play this historical or future figure (they could even be alien, if you wanted) that the collector wants, for whatever reason. The kidnapped individual perhaps bribes the crook with the promise of rare time-travel equipment thatís very hard to come by (money is obsolete to them) and they instead get caught up in this chase across time. Seeing as the kidnapped individual has already time travelled by that point, both characters are wanted criminals, to be sentenced to execution upon their capture.
Iím not thinking that time travel in this roleplay will be as simple as hopping in the Tardis, (as awesome as that would be) Iím thinking it will be a very difficult process that requires specific circumstances and rare materials. At some point Iíd also like another war to break out, between the new pro-time travellers and the anti time traveller organization, and our characters kind of get caught up in the mess.
If youíre interested and have some ideas to contribute, send me a PM and tell me a little bit about you and your preferences. Hope to hear from you!
