Welcome! I shall first proceed with the rules of Homestead, then it's premise, it's gameplay, it's submitting form and, later, finally the Homestead Rankings, which will be how you see you do against your competitor in this roleplay of mine.
First, the three golden rules:
As a den of questions answered and chatter centered around the roleplay called Homestead, this shall be free of inter fighting and insults, as, I hope, we can be civilized beings for the duration of our stay in this cozy little thread.
This is in the advanced section, so effort shall be made and enjoyment shall be had in greater quantity than if it would be in another section, so please use spellchecker and reread yourself before posting in the IC, and post at least two full paragraphs (I will give you a system that will make it easy, I assure you) for each round, with each round being a posting cycle and encompassing one year in the fictional world we will inhabit with various soon to be esteemed families.
Please start with only one Homestead, it will be busy enough, and if you still find yourself yearning for another one after ten turn, petition politely with me for a second one. I will be more strict in standard for any Homestead submitted beyond the first, however.
Secondly, the premise:
Fifth Century, the island of Britannia.
Chaos covers the land as a great empire fell and a warrior race took precedence over the foggy coasts of the land of the Celts. Tribes are pillaged and villages butchered until finally an uneasy truce is reached: Britannia lay in ruins, but it will rise up again. Warfare change and adapt to this new state of both hope and disrepair, and soon clans emerges, homesteads that will, perhaps, one day become an unifying font to the desolate land. No treasures can be found, and no kingdom can be founded but, perhaps in time, there will be.
That is why stragglers, still free and alive from the war, took a part of the land and made it theirs, that they may be native Celts, Southern Romans or even Saxons of the North, they say the possibility of a home and made it theirs. May they succeed in their endeavor.
Thirdly, the Gameplay:
This roleplay will be centered around Homesteads, lands that one day will become Ancestral Homes. The 'goal' of this rp is to make your Homestead, it's bloodline as well as it's Estate into as grandiose as possible, with each turns of one post per player encompassing a year in these Homesteads' existence. You will all start in the fifth century, with a newly married couple of either Celts, Romans or Saxons, each with their starting perks. Remember that you will always be in competition with your fellow roleplayers, yet rivalry do not need to be nasty!
Each turn will be the center of a few actions, the primary one being the expansion of one part of your Homestead, that it be Estate, Finance or Social Status or even the expansion of your residing family. The second part would be the changes encountered in your Homestead, without it being bettered or worsened in any way, may it be a change in the food used or even a new pet or technology received. Finally, the last but not least of part of every post will be your homestead's action for or against other ones, that it may be sabotage or financial aid, this will always have repercussions. While at least one betterment of your Homestead is guaranteed, magnificent posts could also gain bonuses points in certain fields!
Each post will thus look a little bit like this:
You will post what you intend to do with either your homestead Finances, Estate or Social Standing, or renounce the chance of bettering it that year for a new member of the family, that it may be a new spouse or a baby.
Here you can impress me with the effect that the last year had on either your land or your family. You can get really creative here, and it's where I myself can get creative in rewards as well!
Concentrate on one of your allies or rivals here, that it may be to harm or to aid. There will most likely be a drain in your resources, however, so be careful in your dealings there.
Now, each 'Level' of each of the three parts of your Homestead will have a goal to complete before being upgraded, with you all starting on the very first level of two of the facet of your Homestead and with the last one of your chosen race ending up on the second level. All three are important to progress, as Estate make for a safer and happier life, Finance for a boarder range of actions and a quicker growth and finally Social Standing for more privileges and opportunities. Goals for the next level of each part of the Homestead will be given to you in a GM post in the IC thread, and you will then be in charge of striving towards it, with the first levels being easy but increasing in difficulty as you go along.
Fourthly, the Acceptance Form:
